Petetrucker07
I know it. I have some time but I can't take that time for granted. It'll be December before we know it. I think I was just to tired to mess with it last night. I was getting a headache. I've never done a build quite this extensive and have to really try to make it look right, not hacked up. I just need to approach this like my truck builds. Treat each thing like a model in itself, make each part right and it'll be alright. I would put all that stuff away, and just start on the engine,... and between drying ,...fiddle with the frame/body you will be using.... NO STRESS I think that's in the rulebook Cheers
Tom Geiger
Okay, I'm in. 1980 Volare from my collection of glue mangled junkers to be combined with a 300C Hemi. I've already gawked the two chassis, and surprised that the Chrysler 300 is a much larger car than the Volare. Don't expect progress anytime soon. I've got a lot going on that should take me through May!

DeeCee
I have decided, after a lot of ideas i am going with a 40 Ford sedan Delivery, with a Ferrari Testarossa for the driveline and suspension, with the right paint job, it should only look like a very tidy shop truck, i hope. I am calling it " TESTOSTARONE " WELL..after pausing on this one already, due to other builds, i have finally made a small start, i assembled the Testarossa engine to see just how far off it is from fitting.............. Quite a bit i think..... so it has come time to pull out the old Dremel and go for it i think.. And i am running with Lunajammer's idea and calling it the 40' Ford " TESTOSTAROSSA " More updates soon i think, as i am starting to "FEEL IT".. JTalmage
Tinkered with 1 of 2 of my Cannonball cars last night! Found out the older issue of the AMT '70 Galaxie cop car has narrow firestone tires, and the newer issue comes w/ wider goodyear tires. So I found some tires in my parts box that were identical to the recent issue. So this car will have a slightly foot print. And since it's a retired cop car, You can't have a cop car without the rear roll bar/compartment separator (not sure what that things called actually) So I scratchbuilt something last night thats similar... yet functional. First rollbar I've ever made actually. The round stock I used for this may have been a touch too big but its all the hobby shop had at the time. You'll see I tucked the rear bars in on the sides as much as possible to keep it concealed. it hides in the car pretty well actually... You may have also noticed in the first interior shot that it has a stick shift sitting there... I'm debating on it. Since the engine that comes with this kit is actually a 4 speed, I thought about putting that shifter in there. Or cutting the 4speed off the back of the engine and gluing an automatic on it so that I can fit the police scanner and equipment on the trans hump... still debating. Dominik
ohwowoh...some work is going on here - nice to see buddies! Michael, sorry to hear that. but the most expensive is your life - thats the only thing that counts. all other will be replaceable. hopefully, your and familiy is fine. sure, everybody hopes, to come not in the same situation... Some progress on my Bug. I made a sliding roof... ..and cleaned the body (just a little bit): Long time, i thought about the look. Old and rusty, new and shiny...after talk to my wife, i choosed the last one: new and shiny, classic cal-Look though Also to find the colors. Some paint to the interieur: ...and after a lot of sanding before painting while i had different "shadows" under the pure white. Dont know, what they came from... So, here a short view to the fresh painted body (with tapegluethings...) Thats it for "this month" ... Petetrucker07
I may try again to get something done this weekend. I might start on the motor. It is a very nice piece, lots of parts, well detail. I hope someone keeps producing the Ross Gibson resin motors. I'm gonna do my best to do it up right. zenrat
...I decided to try some ferrules to replace the thick kit intake pipes after some suggestions on a thread here. I was able to order some in the exact size of the largest and smallest diameters of the kit ones but they will have to be shortened. I'm debating how I will do this as they are very thin... To cut ferrules without crushing them find a piece of rod the same diameter as the inside of the ferrules and slip the ferrule over the end. Now, with the ferrule & rod on the edge of something to prevent you squashing the flare, roll a sharp knife blade backwards and forwards at the point where you want to cut. Kennyboy
On the ferrules, can't you just drill the proper sized hole into the intake manifold and slide the ferrule in as far as needed? I wouldn't mess with trying to cut and/or sand the tubing......instead, work the plastic to accept the metal pieces.

Now, with the ferrule & rod on the edge of something to prevent you squashing the flare, roll a sharp knife blade backwards and forwards at the point where you want to cut. I did find a brass rod that fits inside well and wasn't sure the knife method would cut the ferrule metal. I will try this. On the ferrules, can't you just drill the proper sized hole into the intake manifold and slide the ferrule in as far as needed? I wouldn't mess with trying to cut and/or sand the tubing......instead, work the plastic to accept the metal pieces. They go into some weber carbs so I cant drill all the way through as it would be in a manifold. Maybe I should look closer at the carbs with that in mind, though. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. EDIT 2/21/15 I did use the knife to cut the ferrules and it worked beautifully. Being "crushable" they must be softer metal than I had assumed ... thanks again guys for kicking me in the butt to do this. I never was a fan of cutting tube this way. Jantrix
Got a build day in today as the wife was outa town. It's all also one of those days where you got a LOT done, but it doesn't really look like it on the model. Motor mounts and tranny cross-member scratched. Molded radiator cut out and another with a electric fan fitted. Engine in it's final location. Going with baby moons and old school rubber. Modified the front suspension to allow the engine to fit well. More soon. Edited February 22, 2015 by Jantrix
