Snake45
Are there certain cars that you think look best in one particular color? I have several such favorite combinations: *'67-'68 Firebirds and '68 GTO: Verdoro Green. Maybe the '69s, too. *'68 Mustang fastback: Highland Green. *'69 Mustang: Silver Jade *'67 Corvette: Marina Blue or Milano Maroon. *'57 Chevy: Harbor Blue/Larkspur Blue two-tone. *'61-'62 Corvette and '62 Chevy: Honduras Maroon. *'66 Mustang: Emberglow. *'69 GTO Judge: Anything other than Carousel Red (orange) just looks wrong. *'67 Chevelle: Tahoe Turquoise. What are yours?
Tom Geiger
I think the colors we believe certain cars look good in, go back to the original ads for that car. For instance if I said, "Ford Granada", everyone would instantly think silver. And that's the color in most of the original ads. Same with a '68 Lemans / GTO Verdoro Green was in all the ads, so the public bought cars in that color. In fact back in 1978 when my buddy's '68 Lemans got smacked.. no problem at all finding the fender and door in that color. Mopar also had a similar green that it seemed every second 1970 or so Dart was painted. Edited December 14, 2014 by Tom Geiger

StevenGuthmiller
Any American car built between 1955 & 1960 looks great in Aqua. & personally I love Coral as well. Quintessential 50s colors! Steve
Snake45
69 Camaro, Fathom Green. To me, there are several colors '69 Camaros look good in, and Fathom Green is high on the list. I'm working on a "set" of Fathom Green '69 Camaro and Nova. The bodies are painted, I just need to finish the chassis and interiors. The Camaro will get a Dark Green gut, while the Nova will get Medium Green--even though that color wasn't available in the kit's "deluxe" interior. The Camaro was painted with MCW FG, the Nova with Testor's interpretation of the color.

Snake45
huh, didn't know i was going to be critiqued for my opinion in that case, black on any car AND truck, nothing finer than a silky black paint job.... He didn't critique your opinion. He gave his opinion. Whole different thing. By "silky black," do you mean satin/semigloss/flat/primer black? That looks really good on certain cars. Craig Irwin
To me, there are several colors '69 Camaros look good in, I like the loaded up RS/SS cars in Daytona Yellow, with black stripes and top. All the bumper guards and such. The base cars look best in Fathom Green with white stripes.
Greg Myers
And that's why we have opinions... I hate black or white on any car. White ain't no color. My Dad used to always buy White cars ( Doesn't show the dirt) My brother and I would tell him he got gypped, they didn't paint his car. Tom Geiger
White ain't no color. My Dad used to always buy White cars ( Doesn't show the dirt) My brother and I would tell him he got gypped, they didn't paint his car. Many years ago I was in the market for a late model used Dodge Caravan. My neighbor worked for Avis and said they had a low mile cream puff that had just come off lease and she could work out a give away price. I get there and the van is WHITE. It looked like an ambulance to me so there was no way I could buy it. Later on I had a similar experience with a black one. Not long before that I had attended a funeral and the funeral home used a black Dodge Caravan as the flower car. I eventually bought a gold one! sjordan2
BLACK on any car, nothing finer than a silky black paint job on anything Unless you own one and have to keep it clean. Beautiful as they are, I'll never own another black car.
Tom Geiger
A story.. my uncle, who has always had pretty boring cars like Camrys, ordered a Tesla. I asked what color, and he said silver because it doesn't show dirt. I yelled at him, "You are buying a $90,000 car and you're not going to wash it?" He must've thought about that because the next time I saw him he told me he changed his order to RED!

If your car obviously needs dusting or wiping every two-three days after you wash and wax it, like my black-on-black C4 Corvette did, well...
