BHarrison
This is a model of the RARE Datsun NL320 Unibody pickup. It is built from a 61 Datsun 4 door sedan. It is getting turned aluminum smoothie billet wheels, Moon tank, headlight bezels with MV Lenses, hand formed Aluminum bumperettes (with a gap for the Moon tank up front and the tag on the rear), HOK paint and full detailed interior with Scale Motorsport upholstery patterns. I am going for a street rod style done like the Moon Japan stuff. Body work is going to be finished today and should have color by Sunday or Monday. I am trying to have this one done by Atlanta. Railfreak78
I almost bought an old tiny little Datsun like this. It was not a unibody but same style. Very cool project since you do not see these much.

BHarrison
Since the dimensions are the same on the truck and sedan, and yeah the cab really does look that choppy in the back lol, I used an ARII 1/32 Scale 61 Datsun Sedan to build this. The NL320 unibody didn't come out until 62 but I always said I would run a 61 front clip on a 1:1 project so I made mine out of a 61. That's the great thing about plastic! No vin and there were probably more of these kits produced than there were real trucks in the states at around only 1000 NL320's imported annually in the 60's. I also left the slimmer more flowing Sedan tailights in place too. This would also be something I would do to a real one since the truck tailights are next to impossible to find and these look better anyway. BHarrison
I broke the link on this one when I re-organized my photobucket. I have reposted the first pic and added one with the basecoat color on it. It is HOK Tangelo Pearl over Orion Silver base. It has since been cleared with PPG Clear and I will post more pics asap. These are pics of the tiny Moon tank for the front and smoothie wheels I machined for it. The pic is deceiving from that angle. The wheels are actually 2 bigs and 2 littles not three bigs and one little....

charlie8575
What a neat project! They should have called it "Doro" (long "o" for the first o.) Which means "The Road" or "El Camino" in Japanese, as it appears to have been a similar product. Really neat model. Who made the base model you started with? Charlie Larkin

Sixties Sam
Now that's a cool truck! No one else at the contest will have one of those! Great work, especially in 1/32 scale. I like the color, and leopard interior, and you did a great job on the machining! Sam
