i'm using an old Hot Rod series kit and the Model King issue. as you can see, the chassis and floor are coming along. still got to do the engine mounts suspension mounts whether that be an IFS or beam, but i'm leaning toward the former. will also put a couple of outriggers on the chassis which the rollcage will be fixed to. the floor has been filled and sanded and i've used a gearbox tunnel from a scrapped model and this was mated to a portion of the original kit tunnel, and backed up with a little pastic sheet. this was filled and sanded smooth then fixed to the floor after a number of test fits. i left a little overlap of the floor on the underside, this will be sanded back in due course.

hello. more progress has been made. i had to narrow the front of the chassis so that there would be clearence for the IFS and wheel/brake assembly. the front suspension has been modified from revell's willys street rod kit, with the intention of making it functional along with steering. i have also cut the boot lid open which will be hinged. i may have to modify or scratchbuild a set of headers as there isn't much space between the engine and upper A arms. i still have the shock mounts to make as yet.

for the suspension to work, i needed the coil over shocks that i used on my A100 pick-up. these come from R B Motion and come in kit form. the first pic shows how you should put these together if you want the shocks to work, and this is going by the instructions. however, i found it a little cumbersome and i found it far easier just holding both ends together when the springs in place and wait for the 2 part resin to set. the shocks for the front end had to be shortened and like the rear, will be fixed in place with bolts.

its time for the rear end to be done. plenty of scratchbuilding for this and modifying an axle from a pro-street 70's Nova. the last 2 pics show parts mocked up. i found that the shocks were too close to the tyres so i moved the shocks inwards.

You are a VERY GOOD modeler, I must say. I'm always suprised to see how you guys across the pond have the pro - thing down. The way alot of you guys get into the detail that you do, it does amaze me at times. This is comeing along VERY nicely. I love to see this kind of detail work done in regular ol plastic. THAT'S my medium. I don't do brass,or exotic stuff. To see how finite you can detail a model with plastic stock, it does show what your workmanship is like. As I said, your very good. Please, don't stop now!:lol::D:);)

the chassis and suspension are now painted and is on the way to being a rolling chassis, once i have the rear brake discs turned. the fronts are done although i still have to make the calipers. i also need the wheels backs and detail the wheels with valves and wheel nuts. the rear suspension works very well althought the front does work, it was annoying as some of the parts either wouldn't stick, even with CA glue or just got eaten up by the carpet monster.

i'm now turning my attention to the body and how the whole thing will sit. i also have make sure that there is enough clearance between the blower and flip front. haven't decided yet whether to go with dual carb or fuel block, but the vintage bug catcher will stay. i have widened the rear wings slightly so that the tyres will clear them and started making a grill out of plastic strip.

i have also turned the rear brake discs and modyfied a set of resin calipers to fit the discs.

along with doing the body, i also have do the engine as the induction set-up will effect the opening in the flip front.. as it was, it proved to be a good choice as i had to make slight adjustments to the front end. i have started to do the brake calipers to, and modified a set of resin ones to fit the discs.

this is part of my workspace, my lathe. i turned an oil filter to replace the resin one, which i will use elsewhere. most of the engine is now done with just the radiator and headers to do. i changed the throttle linkage slightly as i wasn"t happy with it. i also changed the grill opening as i wasn't happy with that either. i chose to use the belt from the Ross Gibson engine kit, as the Scale Repros belt was too tight and pulled on the pulleys.
