MCM Ohana (6/6)

Okay fellas, I finally finished this thing and took better images outside like I usually try to do with every completed build. The kit used was the 1/25 scale Revell 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. First thing I did when I got it out of the box is eliminate the ugly "Off-Road" style flares that this horrible body comes with. It's just not right leaving those things on there. I also opened the grill and also the vents on the hood. After a little more work on the body, I primed with MCW Finishes Fine Primer and used Splash Paints Factory F8 Green for the color. I used Testors Medium Field Green for the interior. Once the basecoat dried, I went ahead and used Splash Paints 2K for my clear. After the 2K dried, I went ahead and wet sanded and polished. The rolling stock is compliments of Mean Machine Models, Alex Bowen offers these, and they are absolutely amazing so go to his website and order you some. You will be amazed at the details of these and the rest of the stuff he offers. Not to mention the great service and low prices. The top is a decal which is transparent, so you need to use a white base first before applying it. In this case I just used Tamiya White Primer, applied two light coats of wet look clear and then applied the decal taking advantage of the slick, glossy finish of the clear to put it in place. It was a very thin decal, so I was successful after the second try. Of course, I gotta take time out and thank my good friend Frank Steffens for giving me the decals, you are awesome my friend. No, he does not sell them so please don't ask. The build was inspired by the late Steven Juliano. His Mod Top ´Cuda has a great but sad story behind it. Just Google Steven Juliano´s ´Cuda for more info on the real car. Had a lot of fun with this one guys so hopefully you like it.....

Greetings fellas, it’s been a while not completing one so I am just happy this is done just in time for the show next week. This is a Tamiya kit with a ZoomOn Wide Body Kit. It was a bit challenging using it but with a little TLC I got it done. The color is Liquid Blue, two part base coat and a 2K clear to top it off, both from Splash. Tires and wheels are included with the Widebody kit. Hope you guys like it…..

Okay guys, many of you know how crazy these models can be so, here it is. Paint is Tamiya Racing White, there are three coats in all and they were wetsanded and polished carefully. There was no need for a clear coat because it was never used on these cars. I decided to go hubcapless because I love the details of the rims though I did order some nut and stud pins from RB Motion to simulate the lug nuts. I also used button head cap screws from RB Motion for the uptop. I included knobs for the dash from Detail Master and added a few toggle switches from top studio. Model Car Garage key ring and keys were also added. I also added carpeting for the floor. There are other little personal touches but all in all, it is basically a box stock build. With a lot of patience, these kits really turn out great, hope you guys like it....

Thank you, didn't find any issues with this but do make sure to follow instructions carefully when installing the headlight covers, they mount in a special angle. I've seen a few of these built and those lenses are not correctly put in place.....

Okay guys, let's call this baby done. Tamiya Aston Martin DBS. I've had this kit for quite a while so it was time to build it. I had a Photo-Etch detail set for it but only used several parts from it. Paint is Factory basecoat Bridgewater Brown from Splash Paints with a Pro-Scale 2K Clear massaged to perfection. Interior tan color is also from Splash Paints. I forgot to add a license plate in the back so I shot two more images inside the house that show what I ended up using. Wish I would've purchased at least two more of these kits when they were available a few years back, hopefully Tamiya releases them again because they truly are gorgeous kits.....
