  1. The first complete model that I've built in over 15 years from when I started it. Previous builds have just been bodies that I used for 1/25 slot cars. Built as an early 60's hot rodders WIP drag car. Box stock except for the front tires which are from the Revell/Monogram '50 Ford PU. Paint is Krylon dark gray primer, gloss black chassis and gloss and flat red used for the engine, suspension and interior. Not show quality but looks good on the shelf. Pictures show a lot of faults, gives me some things to improve on in the next builds. I've tried a magnavisor but it didn't work well for me. Eyesight & lack of a steady hand at 60 years of age shows in certain places on the finished build. On the bench right now is an AMT '40 Ford sedan that I'm also building as an early 60's drag car.
  2. While doing some errands yesterday spotted this Willys about a mile from where I live. Stopped in as it was the first time I had ever seen it parked outside. I spoke with the owner and he mentioned it was one of ten that he knew of that was stock. It was found in a barn in Maine intact but needing a restoraton. Paint and bodywork is about 20 years old, original seat and door panels need to be redone. I need to stop back and reshoot the interior pics. Original engine has been rebuilt, oil bath air filter converted to paper element for ease of maintenance.
  3. Thanks for the welcomes. Going to try some outdoor shots of the '40 coupe today.
  4. I've been registered here for quite awhile and finally getiting around to doing an intro. Basics; 60 years old, started building around 1963 tapered off early 70's, never was an exceptional builder. Built a few models early 80's,again nothing exceptional. Then life, jobs, and moves put a hold on building. Got involved with slot racing mid 80's to present on & off. Mainly ran Parma FCR with model bodies as either Bombers, Late Models or Cup cars. Finished an AMT '40 Ford coupe last week that I probably started about 15 years ago. I'm working on an AMT 40 Ford sedan now, after that most likely an AMT '32 Ford coupe. I figured it would be easier to build what I did as a youngster to get some experience again. I don't have any pics of the finished '40 yet, need to try some outdoor shots as the pics I took inside didn't appeal to me. I'm in awe of the work that is shown here, my goal now is to get some decent paint laid down & put them together as cleanly as possible. I've spent considerable time reading over the tips & question forums, picked up a lot of valuble info from them. My avatar and screen name come fom my days racing "stock" VW's at Freeport Stadium on Long Island back in 1973.
