  1. pack rat, good to hear that someone that knows the product is in charge.
  2. I would hope that R2 has someone in charge of these hanger shots that knows what he's looking at. I could just imagine some 20 something year old fresh out of college looking at a tool for say a mid 60's Malibu and saying "Gee, I didn't know they made Malibu's back then !"
  3. Thanks for the info Carl. I already have 2 of the earlier Ranchero's. I really don't want to buy the new one just for the cans & the other new pieces in it unless I can get one cheap.
  4. Greg, thanks for the info. Vince, I have the '61 Ranchero Custom that was issued in 1997. It only has the bumper jack and tool box in it. Is it the new issue George Montgomery Ranchero that has them?
  5. I would like to know what other kits may have one gallon gas cans as found in the original AMT '34 Ford pickup. Also trying to find out if the tire rack was in any other kits.
  6. After countless hours of prep work removing parting lines and sanding, I was finally able to get some parts primed and painted. I still have some other parts to prime, hopefully the humidity will be co-operative tomorrow. Today was the first day in quite awhile where it wasn't 80% or higher. The cab, bed, hood and radiator shell were sanded with polishing clothes working up to 12,000 grit. I plan on leaving them in the tan the kit was molded in. The fenders will be gloss black. The firewall will also be left tan but I will do a little detail painting on it. I filled the hole in the voltage regulator with some sprue glue which I made with some shavings and acetone. I also stripped the chrome from the tools, mirrors, gearshift and brake handle. I still need to prep the wrecker boom from a later issue kit. That will take some work as it was molded in red. I should be able to get to painting everything this weekend.
  7. Andy, you learn something new everyday here on this forum I checked the Modelhaus site and they have the bumper, stock hood and tail lights available. I need to find a firewall and radiator support & radiator. I've plenty of time to find the parts before I attempt to restore this. my building skills need to greatly improve.
  8. Thanks Art and Dan for verifying this as an AMT kit and some of the kit history. I found the instructions for it on the Drastic Plastics Fotki site and downloaded them. Thanks again..
  9. I'm not sure if Johan ever made a '65 Coronet. I'm assuming this is an original issue AMT '65 Coronet. Chassis is attached by screws in the rear only. Blower opening in hood does not appear to have cut out by the builder and has 4 engraved hood pins. This was in a box of model parts that were given to me about 30 years ago. I am still digging through some of the parts, main item I hope to find is the firewall. Thanks
  10. plowboy, After I scan the sheet I'll probably put it in a cheap poster frame and hang it over my work area.
  11. TooOld, Thanks for the info regarding the Drastic Plastics group. I just submitted a request to join.
  12. Joe, I'll have to do that for them. Their instructions have been a great source for identifying parts & kit variations.
  13. I found this while sorting some miscellaneous 60's parts that were given to me about 30 yeas ago. Even though it's quite basic, I like using the vintage instruction sheets when building the re issues.
  14. An excellent thread with a lot of great tips. I've picked up a few tips that I'll try to incorporate on my next build.
  15. I like the color choice and the detail work you have done. Definitely following this build. I had a '73 Duster 340 I ordered in June of '72. I worked for a Chrysler/Plymouth dealer at the time, got it for $100 over invoice. I believe out the door it was a little under $2,900. It was delivered to the dealer August 15th, I couldn't register it until August 31st. It was a bare bones Duster 340 with 4 speed,3:23 Sure Grip, power discs, AM/FM radio and stripe delete. Color was Chestnut Poly with a Honey Gold bench interior with black rubber floor mat. It was quick, street raced it here and there, never got hassled by the police. Looked like a standard 6 cylinder Duster, only the rumble of the exhaust gave it away that it wasn't a Slant 6. A real "Plain Brown Wrapper" sleeper. I got hit head on by a drunk driver in May of '74, she was totaled. I luckily walked away with only bruises on my shoulder from the harness.
  16. I'd like to see Revell do a '57 Ford 2 door wagon from their '57 Ford tooling. Shouldn't be to hard for them to work from the existing tooling. It would be great if they could tool up a 223 cu in 6 for it. And make it a 2 in 1 kit right from the start. Include both the 6 & V8 engines in it. Include all the speed equipment for the V8. Maybe some generic commercial business decals and some drag decals. If they offer it as a true 2 in 1 kit from the beginning, I'd bet they would sell a lot more kits when initially released.
  17. Hakan, thanks for showing those variations. I was just looking on the sheets for the black letters and black with white letters. I'll recheck their sheets later.
  18. Hakan, I've checked their nostalgic contingency sheets online and I don't see the M&H decals on them. I may be missing them but I don't believe they have them on those sheets. I'd also like to just get a sheet of M&H decals only as I have more contingency decals than I'll probably ever be able to use. I have a call in to Slixx,I'm waiting to hear back from them. I'm going to suggest that they do them as a mini sheet.
  19. Thanks for all the kind comments !!! The early AMT kits have always been some of my favorite kits. Next up is the Lindberg/AMT '34 Ford pickup. The '40 sedan is the second kit I've built after a 20+ year period of not building. There are a few flaws in this build, mainly in the detail painting (the eyes and hand coordination aren't what they used to be). I would have liked to done a little more detail painting under the hood. I also realized I should have used more contrasting colors for the interior. I'll also add a fire extinguisher to the interior after I find one in my parts stash. Vent windows will be added after the BMF work is completed. My goal with this build was to try and do the basics correctly. I spent quite a bit of time on mold & parting lines, paint prep and final finish.. The other goal was to get it together without glue smudges, fingerprints, misaligned headlight lenses and so on. The body paint could be a little better but I was happy to have no dirt, insects or orange peel after the paint was completed. Thanks again for all the comments.
  20. It's finished for now. I just posted the semi completed build pictures in the Under Glass section.
  21. While not a true drag car, I built this almost straight from the box. The only non kit supplied items were the AMT Parts Pack M&H slicks and the front tires which were from the Revell '50 Ford pickup. Decals were from my stash. I'm looking for a source for the M&H contingency decals. I have a couple of different versions but only one pair of each. I didn't want to use them yet in case I need to find someone to make some for me. The fenders and body are just set on the frame for now. I have a friend that is going to help me with the BMF on the side trim and door handles when we can get together. Vent windows will be added after the BMF work is completed. After taking it outside for these pictures I found a few areas that need a little more attention. I'd post a link to the On The Workbench thread I started earlier this year but I'm having problems figuring out how to do it with Windows 8. You can find it by using the title of this post. Thanks for looking.
  22. Hakan, I checked the Slixx site, they only appear to have decals for the tires. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if they have them.
  23. Looking for an aftermarket source for M&H slicks decals like these. These are the only two that I found in my stash. Looking for more since I have several sets of the Parts Pack M&H's I'll be using on future builds Thanks
  24. Going stock due to not having to paint the cab/bed components. I'll probably add the wrecker boom from another issue of the kit.
