Bob, thanks for the additional info.

There were two different custom styling options in the original 57 kit. I tried to link to the Drastic Plastic site that these instructions come from but it didn't work. Click on photo for larger view, hope this helps.

1997 Dakota Extended Cab SLT bought new with 5.2 (318) with 5 speed stick and 3:55 Sure Grip. Ordered it to my specs and have had it since November of 1996. About to hit 287,000 miles, majority of them are highway miles. Still gets up and goes but with the mileage on it I drive it with care. Had to replace the original transmission & clutch/pressure plate at 110,000 miles. Still have that clutch in it. Did head gaskets at 149,000 due to head bolts being under torqued from the factory. Also replaced timing chain, oil pump, and water pump at the same time since it was apart. Four front brake jobs, two with new calipers , one was from the rotors being eaten up by the salt when it took a few trips upstate NY. Replaced rear brakes once at 179,000. Still have about 1/3 lining left. New upper/lower ball joints, tie rod ends and upper control arm bushings at 245,000 .Original exhaust system. On its 5 set of tires, will need to replace them in about 10 to 15,000 miles. On its third battery 2 years ago. Also bought new a 2007 Dakota Extended Cab SXT with 3.7 V6 with 6 speed stick and 3:21 rear. Has a little over 62,000 on it since September of 2007. Haven't had to do anything to it except oil/filter changes and replaced the original battery two months ago..

Thanks for the additional info Mark. I'll wait to see what's in the re issue before I buy any.
-
Mark, did the Street Shaker issue still have any of the deleted parts besides the clear transfer bars?
-
Thanks for the info Don. I'd like to see the clear lights restored also but I'd be happy to have the roll bar, tow bar and other parts in the 2015 re issue. If it's going to be the same as the past re issues I'll pass on it as I have a couple of those. Should they restore the above mentioned parts I would get a couple of the 2015 version.

What was the last issue of the 64 besides the annual and kit # T222-200 that still had the roll bar, head light covers, open steel wheels and tow bar? Besides these parts it would be great if Round2 could include the original side pipes, custom hood scoop and tail lights and disc brake hub and jack stand in the 2015 re issue.

Just received my part of a trade with Rich Manson aka Ramfin59. Excellent communications and received well packed and when it was expected. Would not hesitate to trade with Rich in the future.
-
JC, yes it is available for a trade.

Bill, thanks for the ID.

Found this in a box of old glue bombs I was given years ago. Not sure if the rims and tires were from the original kit or not. Rears appear to be the 2 piece plastic Firestone drag slicks and the fronts are plastic no name tires. Any one know what it's from?

I may have a chassis, give me a few days to check. I also have some good G Plus Indy Car bodies if you are interested in them.

I have a friend that is a fabricator. Next time I see him I'll ask him how it is done and in what order. Also, what era diorama are you doing? Current Cup cars use quite a bit of carbon fiber panels where in the past they would use a factory roof, trunk lid and hood skins. The doors, quarters and fenders would all be formed by hand using an English wheel and other metal shaping tools.

I hope to finish a few kits that were started years ago and several new builds. AMT 53 Ford PU started around 1982 from the Barris Cruisin USA Series. Changing direction from the original build which was going to use the Desoto Hemi & Chevy PU fenders. Going with the stock flathead and stock fenders. AMT 32 Ford roadster with the Chrysler hemi started around 3years ago. Got frustrated with some of the parts fit, need to strip paint and fix a few things. Lindberg/AMT 34 Ford PU, stared around six months ago, probably needs a few hours to finish. New builds AMT 32 Ford coupe, probably maroon with white interior and the kit small block. Going for a late 50's look with this one. Revell snap 57 Chevy, something I can get some experience using BMF. AMT 49 Ford, not sure how I'll build it yet. Also sort through about 40 parts kits to consolidate what I have.

1/24 Monogram Blue Bandito '29 Ford Street Rod
VW93 replied to Austin T's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I have an original in complete original Blue Beetle that was missing the engine, rear, buckets, bed cover and decals. All the parts were loose except for the chrome and the scuba gear and surfboard. The re issue has the scuba gear and board molded in blue while my original has them molded in an off white cream color. The tooling for the re issue has the top, interior and bench on it along with the scuba gear and board. In the original the top and interior were a bright white. Wondering if they had a separate tool for the scuba/board parts back then? Also, are there two interior tubs and tops included in the re issue? It looks like there are two sets, one molded in white and the other in blue. -
Dear Revell, PLEASE tool up a...

Bill, the 292 Y Block was available through 1962 in the full size Fords and up to 1964 in the F100 pickups. Revell could do a 58 through 62 Ford the least expensive way by using the existing 57 Ford engine. It appears the 312 Y block engine was dropped for 58 with the next size up from the 292 being the 332 FE. And yes, I would buy several 58 Ford Custom 2 door sedans and at least one each of a Ranchero and wagon!!! -
Snake45, good to hear that was what you needed. I PM'd Casey last night and asked him to pin it to the top of the page for future reference.

I posted this link awhile ago that I found on the HAMB. NHRA rules from 1958 through 1968. Perhaps this could be pinned to the top of the page for future reference? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2006u57wp7sqpxt/eZJPZZcJdZ

1:1 Cars that had an effect on you, and why.
VW93 replied to Rodent's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The first car I bought just before I turned 17 in May of 1970 was a 62 Impala 2 door hardtop. 283 with 327 heads and exhaust manifolds, Hurst 3 speed and a 3.70 Posi. I bought new Atlas blem whitewall G78's for the rear and F78 blem whitewalls for the front. Mounted them on a set of four used chrome reverse rims I bought for 25 dollars with lug nuts and spider caps. Paid for it all from the money I earned from a paper route and doing odd jobs at the two gas stations up the road from my house. Paying for it all myself was a pretty nice feeling. Next car that had an effect on me was my first new car, again paid for by me but with my father co signing the loan. In June of 1972 I ordered a 73 Duster 340, 4 speed, 3.23 Sure Grip, power discs, bench seat, dog dish caps and an AM/FM. Not sure what the color was called but it was a metallic root beer with stripe delete. I wanted a sleeper as I was just about to turn 19 in July. Street raced it quite a bit, never got nailed by the police. It was totaled in May of 1974 when I was hit head on by a drunk driver. If you click on my avatar you can see the tail end of it with my oval track VW on the tow bar. -

Matt, thanks for the comments. Now that you mention it,the Oldsmobile letter font does look too 80's. I'll have to see what else I can find to do something about that. The Oldsmobile Rocket decals came from the AMT 65 Olds Modified Stocker decal sheet. I plan on adding some decals to the doors after I BMF the side trim and door handles. My first attempt at BMF'ing on my '40 Ford Coupe didn't come out as well as I would have liked. Once I do another attempt at using BMF I'll do the sedan.
