What was your first model kit?
Keef replied to pulln4dejr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This was my first kit at the age of 12. My grandmother used to pay me $30 for mowing and trimming the yard, sweeping the sidewalks, and washing her car. A lot of money for a kid in the early 80s. Then she would take me to Kmart (back when kits were $3.99-$4.99) and I would load up on all the current musclecars I could find, along with store brand spray paint and Testors glass bottles. I’ll find another one either sealed or unstarted that I can afford some day. -
'78 Dodge truck

Yes it’s 2wd and yes the bed and cab are separate pieces. The frame however is not a separate piece. -

Absolutely STUNNING work sir!! -
I am definitely a SteveH fanboy so I’ll for sure be following this build! 🤣😂 I’ve seen the Beaumont stuff that Wylde offers and have thought of doing a couple myself so I’ll definitely be taking notes on what is sure to be a truly AWESOME build!!

Camaro 70 Z car first muscle car since 1964
Keef replied to Stanward VonDiederichs's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I honestly don’t remember if I had any fitment issues with it or not. I did take some advice and assemble the entire front sub frame and slide it along with motor and transmission in as one unit. The paint is Testors Xtreme Flaming Orange over black primer. -
The truck looks amazing Steve, I know Plowboy would be proud. He’s probably looking down smiling right now and thinking “yep, that’s just how I’d do it” Sorry for your loss, our fur babies are like a family member and it definitely hurts when you lose them. 🥺

Looking great so far! The engine in this kit lends itself to some detailing and comes out looking great.

Could probably remove every other spoke and get a lot closer. -
Something for the truck guys

Out of curiosity what was the price? -
I have numerous (10-15?) kits in various stages of completion. Some could be finished in a couple of hours, some would take a couple of days. I get so far on them and then something either goes horribly wrong (forgetting which clear I used and spraying Rustoleum over Tamiya) or I go in search of something to finish one build and end up starting/mocking up another project. Then there’s the fact that I’m starting to think that the manufacturers are plotting against me and keep releasing all of these new kits that I just have to have(added to the almost 200 that I have already).

Does anyone print or offer an up top for the convertible kit?

Hope you get better soon my friend. As others have said, the models will be patiently waiting for your return. Take care of yourself first!

It’s blue flocking I got on clearance at Michael’s a few months back. This brand. I bought 3 packs of 5 different colors.

The garage is a work in progress. I have all the diorama stuff to finish it up, I’m just too lazy to paint it all 😂🤣

I actually just detailed it with some watered down black acrylic paint. I also used the back of a Xacto blade to remove the center from the surrounding then glued it back in. I think it gives it some more depth.

Absolutely love this one! The A12 cars are some of my favorites!!
