MCM Avid Poster (5/6)

  1. So I’ve been in a building slump lately and looking for a slump buster. While digging through my stash I came across these two reissues of the old Green Hornet and Black Widow kits from Monogram. These kits are simple and don’t have many parts. In addition I have almost all the paints already in my cabinet so bonus. Both will be built “box top stock” and I hope to have them finished in time to take to a show a week from Saturday. No pressure. Lol
  2. This is looking incredible. I love it. 😎👍
  3. Having read through that material now I note that Mark was making a "Modern Dream Truck" or as it got dubbed Dream Truck 2. Theres an appendix at the very end which contains an article showing the completed model as Mark critiques it. It was very similar to the R&C Dream Truck but not a replica. Still many good details and techniques included. Marks skills are way beyond me so I'll stick to the plastic. Lol Thanks again for the links.
  4. With primer or paint? I liked the primer better than the gold that came after.
  5. I don’t remember seeing Marks truck. I thought you were referring to the one featured in Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine but that was Bob Barnett
  6. So I finished a whopping 1 kit in 2021 and it was one I started in 2020. Sad. So my cure is to dive head first into a major slice and dice custom build which I need to have done in time for the West Coast Kustoms show in May. No pressure right? I will be using a couple AMT 50 Chevy truck kits and various other items to recreate the Rod & Custom Dream Truck. I have collected lots of pics and magazines from back in the day that show how it was built so I will probably follow that path for the most part. Why redo the work if someone else has already figured out the best way to do it? I’ll post some pics as soon as I start cutting. ☹️👍
  7. Would love to see MCM return to print. I do miss seeing it in my mail box. With the demise of Scale Auto I did purchase the 35 years dvd rom which is pretty cool. Maybe we can get a complete MCM collection some time. Perhaps in a downloadable format vs a dvd to simplify it. I’d love to have all the back issues. Good luck in the relaunch and keep us posted on the progress. Waiting here impatiently. ??
  8. I've had a number of desks over the years. Everything from a big metal office desk to a drafting table. My most recent was a custom built unit in a spare bedroom (now the grand kids room which leaves me with nothing at the moment) ?
  9. Very nice. Always loved this car and yours turned out nice.
  10. Looks like work is coming along well. This is a pretty horrible kit to start with so you've got your work cut out for you. Keep it up.
  11. We had an 80 4 door Chevette for years. Drove the wheels off it (and 2 transmissions). Drove surprising well considering it was a egg beater on wheels. Interesting project.
  12. Wow! Very nice. I've always wanted one of these as me real driver and this looks perfect. Dear Santa...

Nice 69. Ive been wanting to do a build up of this kit. Ive bought three. Lol. Here's a pic of my neighbors 69 Z28 you might like. It's almost the same green but has black vinyl top.
