Kenny B Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 do a old school truck but with some goodie with a old time 12 v 71 That would be cool. Lots of room under that long hood. I have the same truck that I picked up at a model show a few years ago for 15 bucks. Ken
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I like old school! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Ken Gilkeson Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 you did a great job junkman. probably new and clean on mine with a simple paint job.
kilrathy10 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Man, I can tell this one is going to be beautiful, knowing all you tend to do with your 1/25 and 1/24 scalers......Love the steering....Can't wait to see more.....
Ken Gilkeson Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) bags need air, axles need putty. Edited July 1, 2015 by Ken Gilkeson
Ken Gilkeson Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) level switch added for bags. front wheels before and after holes have been cleaned and enlarged. rears have had the same treatment. do not remove the chrome finish if you want a realistic polished aluminum look. more on that later.engine work has been started. Petetrucker07 Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Nice work so far Ken. Nice touch with bigger holes on the rims. I'm a fan of that. Great detailing so far.
gatorincebu Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Looking good from here! I like the larger holes on the wheels as well. Be Well Gator
Ken Gilkeson Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 (edited) if realism is what you seek, take silver brush paint and paint entire exposed surface quickly. before dry take a cotton swab and start removing paint to give the desired finish you are looking for. use this on every chrome piece except front bumper and mirror faces. work quickly with swab until achieving desired appearance. for front bumper rub lightly with a clean dry tissue only with no paint. next, throw away all the gimmick paints on the market. this all works well on cars also. I have personally used this technique since the early 70's. if you are unhappy with the results clean part with thinner and try again. Edited July 27, 2015 by Ken Gilkeson space
72 Charger Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 The results of the silver paint looks good . But surely if you use thinners to remove the paint will remove the chrome and melt the plastic ?
Ken Gilkeson Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 Dave, dipping a clean swab once in thinner should be enough to take the film off. never soak parts in thinner.
