JollySipper
Hey, fellas...... I was wondering if someone could tell me what the finish on these wheels is? Is it the material they are made of, or are they just painted tan? Thanks.............
Dodge Driver
Looks like it could be an attempt to re-create "Dow 7", a goldish finish for magnesium. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/what-color-paint-to-use-to-match-dow-7-coating.235753/If you scroll down toward the bottom of the page, a poster lists his spray can 'recipe' and photos of his results. Snake45
If you want that on a model, you could get darn close with Model Master Jet Exhaust.
JollySipper
Thank you, Guys! I was curious as to if these wheels served a purpose or if they were done just for the look.......Snake, I'll look into that paint, thanks....

Ace-Garageguy
The REAL Dow7 for reference, for anyone who's interested. http://www.chemical-supermarket.com/Dow-7-Magnesium-Treatment-Compound-p652.html
StevenGuthmiller
I mix a lot of these "metal" colors with Alclad. A mixture of "Pale Gold" & "Aluminum" would get you very close. I use this mixture for a lot of carburetors. Steve

Yes, I use a lot of Alclad for these types of parts. The transmission is "Dark Aluminum", the alternator & fan clutch are "Polished Aluminum" & the exhaust manifolds are..........wait for it.........."Exhaust Manifold".
