CabDriver
There was an off-track discussion elsewhere on the forum about a current NYPD vehicle in vintage livery, which reminded me of my collection of weird'n'wonderful NYPD stuff...figured you guys might enjoy seeing some of these... NYPD Moustache livery: NYPD vintage livery: Purple Domestic Violence awareness livery: One of various "cop cabs" that they've had over the years (easily spotted because there'll be two tough looking guys in Mets hoodies sitting in the front 🤪) Rainbow livery for the Pride parade: Red livery (used for filming): Vintage livery drop-top parade car: NYPD dump truck: Vintage Mack emergency response truck: Smart car: And an even worse alternative to the Smart car I'll add more if I think of any I missed... CabDriver
Hey Danno! Those pics were from the NY Auto Show at the Javits Center one year - most years they have some interesting vintage police stuff to see! I don't know for certain, but I would suspect that one's owned by, or perhaps by someone connected to, the NYC Police Museum in lower Manhattan: https://nycpm.org/ It's cool huh? From what I understand it was transport for whatever the historic equivalent of a SWAT team is! I'd like to see it run! Tom Geiger
The red 61 Plymouth is a reproduction of the car used in the TV show, “Car 54 Where Are You?” Since the show was filmed in black and white, they said the red filmed better than the actual dark green. That car has been on the NYC area show circuit for many years.
Ace-Garageguy
One county not too far from me has a tracked APC. Soon as they find out NYPD has a big ol' dump truck, look out. Edited May 14, 2021 by Ace-Garageguy

Not only that, Tom, but by painting the car for TV filming in red, it reduced the number of times citizens interrupted the TV filming in an effort to report crimes to the actors portraying cops, including Toody and Muldoon! Reportedly, the city insisted on the radically different color for just that reason, and, as you say . . . in black and white, it was not discernable from a real NYPD RMP unit. 🌵😎

Tom Geiger
Wayne, NJ PD (where NNL East is held) have a couple of those large army trucks (without the turret!). The town has a flooding issue and they use them to rescue people from their homes.
CabDriver
I've heard from more than one person that there's some other interesting undercover NYPD vehicles, similar to the 'cop cab' taxi that I haven't managed to find photos of to date (or see in person)...apparently they own a black Camry, complete with Uber graphic in the window to fit in with the billion other black Uber Camrys around the city, and also (more interestingly) a garbage truck (?!). Danno
A couple of decades ago, I was rocketing through a desolate part of New Mexico on an Interstate highway, and saw a NM Highway Department dump truck on the shoulder. I slowed down in anticipation of a road crew working around the truck, but instead saw a uniformed State Trooper with a walkie-talkie standing in the dump bed, aiming a speedgun at oncoming traffic! A couple of chase cars were a half-mile down the road, busily “welcoming” motorists with their ticket books. Glad I was concerned about the safety of the non-existent road crew! 🌵😎
