Can I wipe the off residue from BMF and Molotov smudges without hurting the finish with alcohol ? Would polishing compounds be a better choice?

Thanks

2K clear is usually urethane of some sort, and if mixed correctly and fully cured, should be impervious to 70% alcohol cleaning.

But as always, TEST it on a place that won't show, or that can be easily polished back up in case there's a negative reaction.

Yeah I've done it with 91% with no issues.  I've also used a weathering carrier product thats for removing weathering products and specific glue etc with no problems.  That's for the BMF, but molotov not sure.  2K is tough stuff though so i doubt you'd hurt anything.

You can use WD-40 to take off BMF or tape residue.

Takes it right off in seconds, and it won’t harm your paint, regardless of the type.

Contrary to the fears, soapy water will remove any residual WD left if you’re worried about it.

Don’t know what WD will do to Molotow, but knowing how fragile it is, and knowing that it’s ink, and not paint, chances are it will remove it to some extent as well.

Alcohol works, but petroleum distillates (like VM&P Naphtha, also sold as Ronsonol lighter Fluid) or as others mentioned WD40 are best choice for wiping off adhesive residue from well cured paint.  But Naphtha dries without residue where WD40 is a lubricant that can leave some oily residue.  I buy the VM&P Naphtha in quart size cans at a hardware store (in the paint thinners isle).  I use it for lots of cleaning and degreasing tasks.

I have used several different types of alcohols and degreasers on 2k clear without issue. HOWEVER, the 2k clear needs to be fully cured, like a few days or more, at least.

Disclaimer: I could have been lucky. I may not have had any issues with Alcohols, but I would test it first.

I know for sure those degreasers like Super Clean, Purple Power, and LA's Totally Awesome should NOT be used for that.

And finally I might try WD-40 like suggested above, or even just some soapy water. Either could work just fine.
