W-409
Thanks Chris, Gene and Michel! Your kind comments mean a lot to me. After a little break I was able to get something done. I was very busy on the last couple of weeks, but finally I was able to get the BMF done. It took some time, and I'm not completely happy with the result, as I've done better jobs too. It doesn't look that bad, though, when looking from further distance. Also the hood is clear coated. I will let it dry a couple of more days still so it's 100% dry when I start polishing it. Speedfreak
Niko, this is gonna be a stunner (shockingly good) when you're finished. The BMF looks real good. '62 is one of my favorite Chevy's.

W-409
Thanks Everyone! Your kind comments do mean a lot to me and they keep me going. You all are very talented builders and it is so nice to hear that I did good work. Of course constructive criticism is highly appreciated, too. I got some more work done with the Impala. I re-did part of the chrome trims with BMF and they look much better now. Not perfect by any means, but I'm pretty happy with it now. I also painted the underside of the body with flat black. I'm hoping to install the windows soon. Then there was a little problem: The tail light panel should be silver with chrome trims, not fully plated as it comes in the kit. I had two opportunities with it, either paint it silver or flat clear it. The silver wouldn't stick very well on chrome plating, so I decided to use flat clear. Revell and Humbrol Clears turn yellow during the years, so I decided not to use them. I wanted to spray the flat clear on, but I couldn't mask that part so nicely that it would be possible. I had no Tamiya Acrylics, so the only way was to spray Maston flat clear into a cup and paint it with a brush. It turned out okay, though. That part was very hard to photograph, but I was able to get one shot which I can publish... There are also two pics of the body in better lightning and with the little fixes made. W-409
Thanks Fellas! Your kind comments mean a lot to me. Yesterday I took One Step Forward and today Two Steps Back. I painted the firewall and it looked good when it was still wet. Once the paint dried, it cracked very badly. Now it's in paint stripping and all I can do is wait... W-409
Thanks Guys, I really appreciate it! Finally the paint came off and I was able to spray some Gloss White on the firewall today. I'll see if it needs clear coating tomorrow, but it really feels great to have it in paint. I'm going to put this thing together really soon if everything goes as planned, so stay tuned. oneescalante
Great job on a great kit! Even better job getting the shift pattern decal on the shifter knob! Cheers!
W-409
Thanks! You're correct, the shifter decal was a real pain to get on place. Though it's far away from perfect, but at least it is there ! Some details today: After having trouble with the clear coat on that firewall (Orange peel) I sanded it smooth and because I wanted to get it right this time I just painted it using brush and Tamiya Acrylics. Then I painted the heater box, wires etc. The next part was washer bottle, but it will be a radiator overflow bottle on my build. I removed the mold seam, but I didn't paint that part... Because what would look more like plastic than plastic? I painted some water on the bottle, though. The kit offers exhaust pipes with mufflers on the Race Version. I cut them just before the mufflers, and actually they are shaped just like real X-Frame Chevrolet's headers. After some painting (And searching those Photo Etch header flanges) I was able to glue the pipes and flanges on place. Note The Go Getters' excellent Still Crazy After All These Beers Live Record. Nothing beats real Rockabilly Music!

W-409
Thanks Ron, I appreciate it! Some more work done today, actually I got pretty much done and it's getting really close now. I started by installing the Rear View Mirror and interior lights as well as sun visors inside the body. Then I installed a tachometer and its' cable that's made from Scale Dreams' stuff. I also connected a couple of wires to firewall and finally I put the body and chassis together. The fitment was excellent. Looks like the closeup shots are looking horrible... Well anyway I'm planning on finishing this thing in a day or two.
