guitarsam326 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) my next project will be one for my model club as we are doing a group build themed "from the year you were born". being this is probably the newest truck I have, I figured I would give it a shot. not too much planned for this one, just a mild heavy haul look. it will receive an 8v71 cuz there's no way I was gonna put that boat anchor of a motor included in the kit down is this beast. anyway, heres some beginning shots but I would like to take a little poll as I am torn between two wheel types for the front, so let me know what you think I should use! Scalper Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Looks like a start to something pretty cool.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I like it - looks like a tough truck already. Great engine choice also !
disabled modeler Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Looks nice...would be hard for me to do I was born in 64.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Its a cool build already. I would go with the spoke fronts personally. The tag axle and headache rack are nice additions.
RAT-T Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 THIS LOOKS GREAT, I LIKE THE 10 HOLE WHEELS MYSELF
fantacmet Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Born in 88? wow you are actually three years younger than my wife and 10 years younger than I am. LOL. Lookin good so far. I like the wheels in the last photo if it's more modern like that. The other wheels look like form the70's. At least from the styles around here where I am. Can't speak to anywhere else.
72 Charger Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I would go with the modern rims Sam That's one tough looking rig
Tesla Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Looks good already! I vote for the spokes in front.
gatorincebu Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Cool project. I vote for the two hole wheels on the front and chicago wobblers on the drive axles. Be Well Gator
guitarsam326 Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 Progress will be slow on this one because build time come between bottles and diapers now (for the baby not me ) but its well worth it. anyway, latest progress is a little bit of plumbing!
Kenny B Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Sam, looking good. It's taken me 2 years and my truck still isn't finished. Ken.
72 Charger Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 That's some really good plumbing Sam . I must get back to my paystar 5000 . Ive been staled all year . You may just give me the kick in the a$$ to get it done. cant wait to see more
guitarsam326 Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 Don't feel bad guys, it may be two years before you see more of this one!
Tesla Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Great looking plumbing...keep up the excellent work Sam.
guitarsam326 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 I think im DONE with plumbing for now..... well at least as far as the chassis goes. I also ventured into making a mesh style deck plate which I think turned out pretty good. now im itching to throw some color on the frame but im gonna restrain myself until the engine is fully mocked up. enough gabbing, here's some pics.
Petetrucker07 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Looks good man. One of these days I'll get around to doing that, detailing the chassis. Nice work.
Superpeterbilt Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Great work on the lines Sam. That looks top notch. With the detail your putting in thus far, I can only image how cool the finished product will be. Great work on the deck plate also!
guitarsam326 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Thanks guys! Clayton, I promise that once you start, you won't be able to quit! I think the detailing is my favorite part, the more the better, and its very rewarding when finished. Terry, I'm debating on opening the doors but I haven't made my mind up yet. We talked a while ago about the mesh, but I never ordered anything, instead I used splash guards for frying pans, and I think they are just about perfect. Thanks again for the kind words fellas!
72 Charger Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 That's some fantastic plumbing there Sam I may just have to copy it for my own
guitarsam326 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 copy away buddy, that's why we post here, sharing ideas is what makes it all happen!
72 Charger Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Thanks Sam . Do you have any colour ideas yet ?
guitarsam326 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 orange, orange and more orange! I wanted a lighter faded orange look, so I picked up some model master go mango. its sort of a pastel color. I plan to get some color on the frame this week if weather permits!
Mopar - D Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Sam this rig is coming along nicely. The orange is going to look nice.
