TheCat Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 My Dad had this car when I was a kid and I had allot of fun in it. When Model King came out with this kit I had to buy it and build my Dad's old car. This is how my Dad's car looked when he had it (before the accident). I actually built two of this kit. One Before Accident (seen below) and After Accident. He changed the color to a Metallic Green with white top. I scratch built the antenna and hand painted those darn white walls. I'm also going to build the 1970 Bonneville He had.
sjordan2 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I don't remember seeing a kit of this car, but I certainly remember how cool I thought they were when they were new, and black was a very uncommon color. Nice job.
Harry P. Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 When I was a kid, the guy who lived across the alley had a black '64, just like this. He was out there every Saturday washing and waxing that car... I thought it looked so cool!
Chuck Most Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Because it does look cool, Harry! And Felix- your model does the 1:1 justice, it's an incredible build! Tastes like rainbows...
oldscool Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 That's a great looking model Felix. I like the black paint also.
Harry P. Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Because it does look cool, Harry! Yeah, it sure does! Seeing this model brings back some very happy childhood memories...
whale392 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I always liked the 'Jet Thrust' taillight treatment of these cars. The glowing red reflecting off the chrome, surrounded by what look like 'Turkey Feathers' (afterburner equipped tailpipes) just gave it a sinister look from the rear.
davyou5 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) Did you Show your dad this build? If you did I'll bet he was very happy . Great Job! Edited October 21, 2010 by davyou5
TheCat Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 Did you Show your dad this build? If you did I'll bet he was very happy . Great Job! Yup I did. And not only showed it to him, I gave it to him as a Christmas gift. He was REALLY happy to see it.
cobra98 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Very Nice!! I've always liked this body style
David G. Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Hey, my dad had one of these too! His was silver and had holes rusted through the floor boards... rather large holes. I seem to remember the car being very fast, maybe due to the weight reduction in the floor. Very nicely done!
