  1. Working on the Monogram F-250. I'm very satisfied with the chassis, being my first painted model, but I've ruined the body. The paint is awful. I tried to work beyond my skill level. I would strip it all and start over, but I've already glued the windows and interior in. Can I somehow remove the windows and be able to salvage them? Also what's the best way to strip paint?
  2. I've been a member on here for a while, but lost interest for a while after I first joined so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Indiana and one of the very few younger modelers, only 20. I built my first at about 10, but have only completed maybe 5 and never any in full paint. My parents always saw it as a waste and got annoyed when I would buy a kit. After showing serious dedication to my last project they same to support my hobby now and realize that I'm not just messing around. That has me excited to get serious about this. I've spent the last few months saving up what little I can while in college and gathering kits for a big project I'm finally ready to start, a drag team sponsored by my local Ford dealer. One thing I'm struggling with is that my budget suppresses my creativity. I have tons of ideas for scratch building and kit bashing, but I don't have the money or parts. Every kit, part, and supply I own for modeling is contained in the drawers below (the boxes on top are empty). I don't have much to work with. eBay parts lots seem to be overpriced and so large I can't afford it, but if you have a box of junk parts you don't want laying around, I'd be glad to make an offer! Can't wait to share my builds with you all! -Michael
  3. I have a 2003 Lincoln Aviator. Awesome car to drive. Plenty of power and handles great for being 6,000 lbs. The 11 mpg is kind of a buzzkill though.
  4. I'm about to start my first few models I've ever done in full paint and I dropped 8 bucks (40% coupon at Hobby Lobby) on Tamiya primer after passing up other brands for half that. Hope it's worth it!
  5. I just found this thread. I'm from southern Indiana, but I call Muncie home 8 months a year for the next 3 or 4 years.
  6. Got the Revell 2013 Boss Mustang today. Paid around $20 for it from Amazon (had a gift card). It'll be converted to a Cobra Jet with custom decals to match my local Ford dealer.
  7. I talked to the seller of the decals. They are made for the 2013 Boss kit. The only modifications needed are the interior, side mirrors, spoiler, and grill removed, and the air intake and plenum cover changed. I even ordered a set of custom decals to reflect my local Ford dealer! Also about to order the Boss kit!
  8. I found a decal sheet on eBay for a late model Cobra Jet conversion. It says the decals are intended for late model Revell Mustang kits. The decals are for a 2010-2014 Mustang. All I've been able to find in that would be the 2013 Boss kit. Any ideas in what the conversion would take? Is there another kit I haven't found? Thanks.
  9. So it's been about 2 months since I've touched the bench. School's been crazy and I'm a manager on my school's baseball team. But with 9 school days left and graduation around 3 weeks away, I should have more time to hit the bench soon. Anyone have any motivational words for me?
  10. Here is my '69 Mach 1 Project Car, to be part of my future fictitious restoration garage.
  11. I haven't decided if I'm going tandem or single yet. I originally just put one on for the picture, but I kinda like how it looks. And I haven't made the hitch yet. It's just resting there. There is a hitch that comes with the trailer and I think it may work. I'll post a pic later.
  12. I haven't gotten much work done, but I got my Pete kit this week and did a mockup with the trailer. It'll be about 3 ft long when finished!
  13. Thanks! I'm really looking forward to working on it. Unfortunately I'm gonna be really busy for a while so progress will be slow. I'm one of the few young modelers (18) and graduation is coming up! But then I'll have all summer to model away!
  14. How can you tell from the picture?
  15. I am going to convert the Revell 1/25 Peterbilt 359 kit into a motorhome that will be used to pull my 36' Galaxie Limited tag-along race trailer. I got my Galaxie trailer kit last week. I wanted to see what it looked like so I did a mockup using scotch tape. I ordered my Peterbilt kit today and it should be here Wednesday. Any suggestions on a color scheme? I want to use silver somehow.
  16. I don't think it is. It doesn't say anything about snap and the model number and box in the pictures match the glue kit. If it is, I will feel really dumb and I will be getting a refund! Either way, it's already back up to $17.60.
  17. Amazon has Revell 1/25 Peterbilt 359s for $14.48!! I checked last week and they were $19.00 on there. Great deal!!
  18. I want it to have the Big Rig look though. I got my Galaxie trailer kit yesterday. I'm gonna start a thread in the "On The Workbench: Big Rigs" for the motorhome/trailer build.
  19. I really wish I could afford one of these. Opens up so many ideas for those of us who like to scratchbuild, but have less-than-stellar skills.
  20. Oh, ok. It's no problem to order directly from them. They use Pay-Pal and ship Priority. Great customer service!
  21. I've seen a lot of posts on this site about people who bought Galaxie trailers off of eBay for $35-$45. Is there something different about the older kits? Why don't more people just order them from the website?
  22. I would love to see a late model Ford pickup. Anything 2004 or newer. I'd also like to see a 2000 Mustang GT(my first car), but I know that's a pretty specific request.
  23. Thanks!! I think I'm gonna go with the Revell 359 based on price. I just ordered the trailer and as soon as it gets here I'll order the truck. I'll probably start an "On the Bench" thread once I start the build.
  24. Forgot to take pics today. I made a rookie mistake and left the tape on the body while I was away from the model. So needless to say, I have to respray the whole body. Lesson learned.
  25. I would love to use the Neoplan bus, but those kits are far too expensive for me (I'm one of the few young modelers out there). I'm not necessarily wanting the cab to like exactly like the picture. I just wanted to illustrate the over the cab bunk style.
