  1. Not much here but this one is, for all practical purposes, done. I just need to install the three handles that I needed to make. The kit handles were flashy beyond usable. And I lost two of them. Anyway, this is all I have to show for now. I made new handles using .035 styrene rod, .040 half-round and some CA. I hit them with Molotow and I'm giving them a few days to cure. The .035 rod happens to fit the holes in the doors very nicely. The rumble seat handle hole is a bit bigger but oh well. I left that rod long and it will bottom on the floor. That's it. Thanks for wasting you time ?
  2. Last week I hit the bondoed areas with some Ace "sandable primer" in order to smooth out those areas and a few days later I wet-sanded. Today I sprayed the whole body with Tamiya light white primer. I put it on too heavy and tomorrow I will be sanding a lot of it off ?. Lacquer is hot. Lacquer is hot. Lacquer is hot...I have to write this 100 times...Lacquer is hot. Lacquer is hot. Lacquer is hot....don't wait up....Lacquer is hot. Lacquer is hot. Lacquer is....
  3. Did a little painting on the interior today with a cheapey 2 stage airbrush. I don't know why anybody likes them. It's such an awkward process. But I started to get the hang of it and it's all good. Thankfully ?. So here's what it looks like after that. The plan is to foil the middle section of the door panels and some additional miscellaneous application. I have a photo reduction instrument panel. I may find it impossible to detail the dash the way it sits now. I had to glue it to the door panels in order to get it all to fit together with the '63 floor section. So I'm not looking forward to "disassembling" the three parts. We shall see. Wish me luck ?. Dont worry, I also plan to tone down the purple and buff up the white with some satin clear (I heard what you said ?)
  4. ....and flames ? Edit: the FI SBC was exactly how I pictured it.
  5. Well, you are pretty far north...it'll be 16F by Halloween ?
  6. Ooo yeah, we were drowning for the past 2 days. That 16 degrees can't be Fahrenheit ?...?
  7. I think black would be safe. I like the contrast of what's there now and as a contemporary hot rod it would work but the wheel/tire says traditional....what is the time period depicted by this representation? (am I overthinking this, Bil? ?) You have flathead power, '60s rolling stock, and maroon paint. Black is safe. ? Edit: you've got me bloviating now so....we enthusiasts in the year 2024(that's right, it's 2024!) now have a very long history of rod building to draw upon. The examples are virtually infinite. You can depict a car built in 1948 or 1955 or 1975 or 2000. I love the cars built around the late '50s. I hate the high-tech billet buggies. But then you have resto-rods of the '70s and nostalgia rods and on and on. So then...if you are building it today in 2024, you've got to decide on a time period you want to depict...enter the back-story. Who built it and when? But you know all this. I'm done now. ☺️ heh heh heh....
  8. Thanks, Dan. I like darker colors when the trim Is a prominent feature. Black is very unforgiving of my limited painting talent and this dark violet was a fair choice. It may be available in a rattlecan, Dan. ?
  9. I have one of these on the shelf waiting for my affections. ? I'm following!
  10. I'm really liking that color, Bil. It's a nice vintage look. Now get a face on 'er!
  11. Thanks, Dave, it does photograph well enough but the roof reflection tells the story. ?
  12. Thanks, Sonny. I agree on the beauty of this body style. The "corrected" engine didn't make the final cut, though. Testor's "violet metallic" is a favorite of mine and I decided on it because I wanted the trim to show up well. It seems to have worked. One of these days I'll wrap this one up. Same color, different car. ? I love those little square bottles.gotta love this body style. Notice the similar roof-line.
  13. Lenny......I am truly at a loss for an appropriate response. Does Mc Donald's have car hop service where you are? I suppose I could go to Sonic....but there's no Grimace there. But there is one here -> ? <- ......?
  14. It was a job, Greg. Lots of do-overs. Lots of wasted foil. This is usually my favorite task. ?
  15. Thanks, Bil, it is a decent kit. I still have more to do so maybe my attitude will improve after it's all together. I have the interior pieces masked and ready for paint but it's rain tomorrow. ?
  16. After spending a fat chunk of yesterday rubbing out this body and most of today foiling it, I am not happy with the end result and it's because I didn't wait long enough for the paint to get completely solid. I thought it was. It was when I got to the Novus stage I saw the scratches. They would not polish out and there's not enough paint on the body to drop back down to 3200 and coming back up. I was already seeing some unevenness; I hate to repaint, so on to the foil we go. This car has a ?-ton of trim. Half of it is easy enough but that stuff up front is an angry female canine. I thought I wanted to get another one of these kits but now...not so much. Some areas were a bit difficult because of weak mold lines although most of that was at the bottom of the belt line trim. Anyway, thanks for checking in. ?
  17. Thank you, Robert. I was having a good day ?
  18. That's some pretty amazing work to get all this done in less than a week ! And with the old lady on your back to boot!? Excellent work, JR. ?
  19. While watching this build I was not liking the color and the '65 model is my least favorite of the big Fords. That said, the finished build looks terrific. The chrome trim sets off the paint enough to change my opinion of the color. The addition of the quarter windows lends realism. The Cragars work to put this Ford squarely in period and the angle of attack is just perfect. Congrats on another sweet build, David ?? You worked your tail off on this one.
  20. Thanks for the info, Jeff.
  21. I picked this up today at my local Hobbytown in Yorktown, VA. It's a bit hard to navigate once you get off of I-264 because it's kinda hidden but be persistent. I found it last year and it's small but it's something to do on an a cool Saturday. Maybe I'll see you there if my wife will give me some cash ?.
  22. Thanks, Bob. (It was the voices ?)
