  1. And this has earned you an ignore. Good day sir!
  2. Whatever, the modeling is what I'm here for. A good model of a neat subject is a good model of a neat subject no matter who built it. Looking forward to seeing more if EShaver's work. I'm glad to hear another member is healthy and happy, but the models! More of the models!
  3. The lowrider kit comes with both the X-11 cowl hood and a flat hood with a weird fake turbo bump to one side. The intake can be filled to make a stock flat one pretty easily. I also like that it has decals for both the '80 and '81+ X-11, and appropriate wheels for both. The most unfortunate part is the turbo V6. Outside of the turbo its pretty decent. There was a Citation 660 that was turbo, but it was a show car (and a hatch back). On my todo list is a proper air cleaner, both the short and tall.
  4. I have seen a Ventura conversion kit, I think it was done by VCG Resins.
  5. Not a huge fan of the front bits, but otherwise its sweet!
  6. The Internet is littered with blog posts and magazine articles about how crummy they were. Its all the rage to dump on them. In reality they are no more or less crummy than any other car of the era, or any other car who's design and engineering was revolutionary and set the tone for the next 35 years. All GM front wheel drive vehicles to this day can trace their evolution back to this gamble. The good ideas are still there, the bad ideas were lessons learned and evolved. None would have come to fruition without starting somewhere, and they all started with the X. The 80 and 81 were the problematic years, but after the 82 redesign were much more reliable. The A body is identical to the 82+ X. Unfortunately Citation had a tarnished name and was in a confusing place between the new, nearly identical Celebrity and new, smaller Cavalier. Haters like to hate, but Citation wasn't the failure history would have you believe.
  7. Yep, I think Round2 gets it. A throwback to the days when model companies were run by enthusiasts rather than banks and investors. Some of the Hawk and Lindberg stuff is a little odd, but most of it is pretty good subject matter. I'm certainly glad to see it and though many folks will balk, I'd like to see the 1/20 stuff again.
  8. Awww sweet! What will it need for a chassis? Did you build it around a donor or will it need a scratch built one?
  9. Well lookie what we have here! Competition Resin has it on their radar. http://www.compresins.com/site/751597/page/238094
  10. There were a few, John Force even ran one. Being an avid Citation enthusiast I feel like need one. Seems like many many years ago I saw a model in a magazine but it could have been a heavily modded Revellogram. http://public.fotki.com/VincePutt/drag_racing/funny-cars/chevy-funny-cars/chevycitaitionfunny-1/
  11. That's good info. Leads me to believe Novacaine is doable. I sent Round2 a message asking about it, given their release of some other vintage funny car kits maybe it could happen!
  12. Its my holy grail and you found an unbuilt one for $1!?!!! It sounds promising that it could be reissued. The last Old Pro I got still had separate front clip parts, and I'm sure it shared a chassis with other things. I wonder why it hasn't been repopped?
  13. Was the AMT Novacaine only issued once or was it reissued in a different name later? It has eluded me for years I can only assume the tool was lost/damaged/changed and that's why there are none?
  14. Is (or was) there a Citation flopper body available?
  15. Oh he gets it alright. That is a rod if there ever was. Its classic style, but original and unique. And the Olds Rocket is the icing on the cake. This guy gets it.
  16. Wow that takes me back! 83 was a little early, I wouldn't have seen it, but if I had... Side pipes and a vinyl would have for sure got it circled! I was born about 10 years late.
  17. Nothing is stopping anyone from starting their own group build with their own criteria. People who want to participate will, people who don't won't. Trying to comitte plan a group build will never work because everyone will want something different. So start a group build thread with your criteria and let those who want to do it do it. The fun (for me anyway) of a group build is to follow others projects and try to keep motivated on my own entry. So build any drag racer you want, but you better get going and plan carefully because Jan 1 is going to come quick!
  18. That's great looking, I like the white top and interior. Its nice to see one that isn't orange!
  19. When was that and what were you selling? Maybe it was one of the cars I oggled?
  20. Oh and I'll probably watch the whole thing tomorrow. Its Talladega, its Labonte's last ride, there's a lot of talent starting in the front, middle, and back, and there's some big names about to drop out of the championship.
  21. For the handfull of other sports I loosely follow, I don't watch hours of them either. I'll tune in toward the end and if the score is close I'll watch to see which way it goes. Most of the time the game is over 3/4 through, but sometimes its close and exciting. Now in the event that I'm at the venue, I watch the whole thing no problem. A lot happens on the field/court/track that you can't see on TV. Being in the company of thousands of people cheering and jeering also adds to the fun and makes even a snoozer a good time.
  22. I wore out my share of J.C. Whitneys too, and that was late 80's. First I'd wring my hands over which car to buy in the Deals on Wheels then find all the best goodies in the J.C. Whitney. I was 10 of course, but was concerned with such things. Never did buy anything from the Deals on Wheels but have on occasion found something in the J.C.W.
  23. NASCAR isn't about racing though, it's about selling garb. Bumper stickers, cardboard cutouts, die casts, t-shirts, flags, etc. Their business is selling advertising for their business. For the fans it's still about racing, but for the sponsors and the team owners and NASCAR fat cats it's about selling lamp shades with #48 on them. They can't give away licensing, their business model is to sell licensing. That said, I still watch. I haven't got 4 hours to watch a whole race start to finish but I catch the first 20 and last 50 or so when I can. I sit through the commercials, look at the ads all over the smartphone app when checking the "score", talk about it on Monday with fellow fans, and watch the highlight reel.
  24. I haven't used the Wicked Colors, but have used lots of future since being told about it a few years ago. Future will go over anything, and gives a good gloss without being thick.
  25. Ditto. Keep the pictures coming!
