  1. Nice work! I don't know if I've ever seen a long bed ext cab S10, this ought to be neat. Is this the one you were going to do a 4cyl too?
  2. In this age of investors and management pushing all the time for more more more it's no wonder so many of you are having a hard time comprehending. They have zero competition far as restoration parts go so you really have two options, buy the parts from them or don't get the parts. As has been stated over and over, Modelhaus is as busy as they want to be, serving the customer base they want to serve. Sure pictures might grow their business, but they are as big as they want to be and have the kind of customers they want to have. They have the finest resin parts in the industry, the fastest service and the biggest catalog. If they think pictures would compromise their ability to be the best, or if they don't think they need pictures to sell their products then they don't need pictures. They are not Amazon and they don't want to be. I'm not putting words in their mouths, these words came from their mouths.
  3. Are you sure this isn't from an episode of CHiPs?
  4. Wow, didn't realize NASCAR kits were that awful. More for me I guess.
  5. Rather than a formal pay to play policy and the drama that may or may not bring, I'm sure donations wouldn't be turned down! As long as its done with some degree of tact, don't send $20 and start threads reminding everyone about how great you are, nobody likes a selfish giver.
  6. Oh man... that's a whole lotta NASCAR! I wonder if they would onesy twosy if I sent my wish list...
  7. Oh man, a full size model? You have no excuse for inaccuracies! The rivet police would be all over you like stink on ...
  8. One of the other groups I belong to has a pay to play program, only paying members can post for sale items and they see no ads. The yearly cost is cheap. Nobodys getting rich, but there is enough interest to offset some of the costs.
  9. Yea I forgot the Volare front ends, despite being a bit unconventional, were popular among the street rod guys for a while too. I think because the whole K member was kind of a compact all-in-one unit that was easy to adapt to other stuff. Sort of like how popular the Mustang II is/was, but literally bolted on vs. the MII that requires hacking the cross member off the donor or fabricating your own. F body's were the next generation of design, I don't think they shared a lot with previous platforms as far as floor pan shapes and things but I could be wrong. I do know the front suspension design was later adapted to the J body (Mirada, Cordoba) and M (Diplomat). I don't know if parts between them are interchangeable, but those they had transverse torsion bars and are very similar. I don't have a huge amount of first hand Chrysler knowledge, but I worked in a shop for a while with two guys who were ape about them & managed to absorb a few things!
  10. A kitchen table, old news paper, $20 for a kit and $30 for a knife, sand paper, glue, and a starter set of paint is really all you need to get started, and from there the sky's the limit!
  11. F body torsion bars are transverse L shaped things mounted on the front side of the cross member to the opposite side control arm. Looks almost like a stabilizer bar with the other end cut off. A bodies have long straight bars from near the pivot point of the control arm to a cross member at the rear of the front sub frame Does the plain Volare kit have Road Runner parts, or are those only found in the Road Runner box?
  12. Sillier question... Think theres any chance for a LeMans Enforcer?
  13. What?? MPC made a Volare Road Runner??!? I have to have one no matter how cruddy the chassis is! I've said it before, but MPC made some of the neatest stuff!
  14. Ford is a big place, without knowing what you're after its hard to say who you should contact.
  15. I might pick up a can and try it out! What do you use for neon rocket red?
  16. Um... because there's more to a kit review than some know it all finding faults to try and bolster his expert opinion of himself.. You know, things like what parts are in the box? Customizing options? What's on the decal sheet? Which tires are included? How was the general fit and finish?
  17. Bandwidth and storage space are not the same thing. In a nut shell, storage space is the disk space used to hold your image files and bandwidth is the amount of data transferred each time someone views one. If you gad a 1mb file that was transferred over the Internet by 5 people, you would be using 1mb of storage space and 1mb*5 downloads of bandwidth (5mb). Bandwidth is really the wrong word for it but its the industry accepted one. That's how they are able to offer 1TB of storage "free", they charge you based on the amount of data transferred. When you reach your bandwidth limit for the month they limit your image's availability.
  18. Any update on the '32?
  19. Maybe I'm off but I think the point if this was not to discuss zoning and building code. I think what the OP was getting at was that even though there are some frustrating things going on, he was able to take his stress out on a crappy model kit and end up with the foundation of a neat project.
  20. I'd rather have the CB and Trans Am logos than a silly hat!!! I'll bite though, the first movie is on my all time list.
  21. Yea I always thought it was odd that Ford and GM ran with such square shapes after how much aero was going on in the late 60's and into the 70's. Kinda cool though, it set the stage for another aero war between the Tbird and Aerocoupe/2+2 and later W body cars.
  22. Scale Model Supplies on the corner of Lexington and University in St. Paul. A classic hobby shop experience. Huge inventory of stuff, new, old, and older. Mostly very organized & easy to navigate. Dank basement setting, but well lit and clean. Staff is not particularly helpful, but not rude of off putting. "Bargain" back room, Gigantic slot track and strip! Model cars stacked to the ceiling, some aftermarket parts, lots of scratch building supplies, planes, trains, other odd kits. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Twin Cities for any reason.
  23. This was one of my first models, and is the one that hooded me on Petty. Mine didn't have a drop of paint on it either. I was very young at the time and my dad did most of the building. That poor model has had a rough life. Still have it, but it's in more pieces than the kit came with. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
