How about the biggest selling kit of all time! The General Lee!

So, the engine vs. no engine shall remain an argument for the ages. But, as I learned from a wise, and very talented, model builders years ago is, who is going to see it while it sits on a shelf collecting dust? Also, how much more would this kit be if the extra tooling had to be made for the engine and everything that goes with it? I know, some of you would pay it, but, some of us would hesitate. Like I said before, we as American model builders are spoiled with almost every kit having an engine, even if it is a lump of an engine. But like I also said, I would happily buy a well detailed and proportioned kit if it meant no engine. Current tooled kits have been hit and miss by U.S. kit makers, but Tamiya has been pretty consistent in quality and fidelity. And most of their kits do not have engines. Don't believe me, then go build a Tamiya kit and then decide.

Nope, didn't miss the point and I am just making a joke. I know Revell butchered up the kit, to the point that when it was re-issued years back they had to include a resin hood to compensate for the destruction of the original. And I believe they ended up re-tooling the body as well. They had to do what they had to do, to keep selling and old tool. It was rather disheartening to see it parked at the end of the Swap Meet section a couple of years back at the California Hot Rod Reunion. Seeing such an iconic car parked in the dirt and gravel while some Rat Rod Jalopy was parked in the Grove section was sad indeed. And no, I am not a fan of the flames on the resto version

The crazy part is that the car never went that fast! It was a faulty timing system reading, but, the announcer at the track read it and it became a fact once Revell printed it on the boxes! The car looked fast, it sounded fast and the crowd was told it was fast, so, it was fast!

Revell didn't care about your childhood nostalgia, bwahaha! ?

Well, I looked it up online, since mine is sealed and I really do not want to open it yet, and here is a shot of the instructions. Looks like it is one piece and can be on and off, if you don't glue it down.

I remember seeing them once in a while, but I do remember that we used larger soldering irons in wood shop to decorate some projects. Almost as fun as the Glass Making kit! Hey kids! Let's cut glass!

The Revell one is rather clunky and shares the same chassis as the Monza and Mustang! Just a good novelty to have in the collection

I remember the late Tom West telling me about how some of these paintings used to hang inside of Revell HQ in Venice, CA and how he wished he would have snagged a couple of them! LOL! One of my all time favorite non car art pieces
