  1. Wow! I can't believe how many of these kits I have that Casey just posted! In addition to these.
  2. I will be very happy to take it off your hands!!!
  3. The Revell Monza shared it's guts with the Pontiac Sunbird and Mustang II, and that is why they look so weird under the body. This was a weird time at Revell, where the they where trying to save some money by making some kits almost modular. Like the Pick Up trucks as well! A Datsun shared the chassis with a Ford and a Chevy!
  4. Maybe a sneak peek of the next AMT release?
  5. The stories of lost and damaged tooling are some of the greatest Urban Legends of the modeling world. While some have come true, most are still that, Urban Legends. I would not be surprised if the "Rust" was mostly surface rust and just made it easy for someone to write them off. Until then, may the stories continue! ?
  6. Most likely still the same scenario. It has the Monza badge on the nose like the '78 and up. I really don't think MPC changed the tooling, just kept adding parts that are non stock.

  8. This was issued in 1980, and, the last Chevy Monza made by GM was in 1980! But, I think this actually might be their 78 as there is not much different between them, other than the IMSA style body panels and wheels.
  9. Drag Racing And like i said, that is not even him in the picture! ?
  10. They probably realized how much extra plastic was needed to make LInda and cancelled it! LOL! And that guy is not Shumacher, but he is lucky to be in such nice company!
  11. You have a point there, and I do hope there are moving a few extra units due to the Product tie ins. But, I sure do hope they put some of that money to use on new tooling. While it is nice to get some old kits back, it is also nice to get new tools
  12. Oh goodie! Monopoly themed re-issues!
  13. No worries. I don't think I have ever fully completed and OC kit, might have to give it a go again soon.
  14. Yeah, this is literally a Snap Together with no detail!
  15. Yup, it was actually a real thing! I can't find the pic I have of one, mounted on a dragster, but, I know there is one in the AMT Parts Pack engines as well.
  16. Comparing 30+ year old kits to the latest in their line is not really fair. Tamiya does keep improving. Sadly, how often can you say that about our domestic kit makers. I look forward to buying one or two and throwing them on the pile!
  17. Reminds me of my Cave! I like how you have the bagged kits on the wall. Just might have to steal that idea! ?
  18. I do like where this is going!
  19. How about the biggest selling kit of all time! The General Lee!
  20. So, the engine vs. no engine shall remain an argument for the ages. But, as I learned from a wise, and very talented, model builders years ago is, who is going to see it while it sits on a shelf collecting dust? Also, how much more would this kit be if the extra tooling had to be made for the engine and everything that goes with it? I know, some of you would pay it, but, some of us would hesitate. Like I said before, we as American model builders are spoiled with almost every kit having an engine, even if it is a lump of an engine. But like I also said, I would happily buy a well detailed and proportioned kit if it meant no engine. Current tooled kits have been hit and miss by U.S. kit makers, but Tamiya has been pretty consistent in quality and fidelity. And most of their kits do not have engines. Don't believe me, then go build a Tamiya kit and then decide.
  21. Nope, didn't miss the point and I am just making a joke. I know Revell butchered up the kit, to the point that when it was re-issued years back they had to include a resin hood to compensate for the destruction of the original. And I believe they ended up re-tooling the body as well. They had to do what they had to do, to keep selling and old tool. It was rather disheartening to see it parked at the end of the Swap Meet section a couple of years back at the California Hot Rod Reunion. Seeing such an iconic car parked in the dirt and gravel while some Rat Rod Jalopy was parked in the Grove section was sad indeed. And no, I am not a fan of the flames on the resto version
  22. The crazy part is that the car never went that fast! It was a faulty timing system reading, but, the announcer at the track read it and it became a fact once Revell printed it on the boxes! The car looked fast, it sounded fast and the crowd was told it was fast, so, it was fast!
  23. Revell didn't care about your childhood nostalgia, bwahaha! ?
