  1. Working on a model of my first, current, and still in progress 1:1 1986 Camaro Z28.
  2. Clean, awesome paint work!
  3. Thanks again everybody! Ben, I believe this was the AMT 25th Anniversary kit, I no longer have the box though. The kit had a LOT of flash on the trees and at least 5 sink marks in the body that had to be filled, but it still remains a good representation of a third gen Camaro. Al, that Camaro is sharp! As for being a "pioneer," third gens are close to my heart. My first car (pictured below) is an 86 z28. My dad and and I are building a small block for it now! Eventually it will get the LS1, six-speed swap!
  4. Cool! can't wait to see it!
  5. I understand what you are saying. However, the reason I did not make the green "tear" was because this body style chevy truck has a pronounced crease on top of the door/fender/bed. I used this as a line to mask off of, and I decided a regular two-tone with straight lines would not "fit" the truck right. The "tear" allowed me to run the gray on top of the dually fenders and in my mind even out the paint scheme. I will try to get some better pictures in the sunlight soon, I think what you see as worn off clear is glare from the lighting I was using. Thanks for the comments everyone!
  6. They make the seperation between the gray and black.
  7. Great builds Cruz!
  8. Thanks everybody! I believe this was the 25th Anniversary kit Ben, the box is long gone though!
  9. Cool, this is my kinda build!
  10. Very Clean build!
  11. Nicknamed "orange slice." Paint scheme was inspired after a 1:1 magazine car. Testor's gloss black over Testor's one step orange all buried in clear. Interior recieved Corvette sun visors and seats. I built and paint-matched a roll bar. White Hurst shifter is a pin. I also painted the guages to look "white faced." The dash was smoothed and painted gloss black. Custom platform was built for the amp and flocked with a bowtie shape within it. For the drivetrain I did the ever popular LS1 swap, taken from a Revell Corvette with a parts box 5-speed trans. mated to it.The engine bay was smoothed, AC-delete, strut bar made out of paper clips, corvette overflow tank was used. I modified a parts box cold air kit to fit the core support. I used the stock Corvette exhaust manifolds but "heat wrapped" them with colored masking tape. Wheels are Pegasus chrome T's. Corvette rotors were adapted to the stock Camaro rear. The door handles were shaved.
  12. Decided to build a budget bracket racer. I added a vinyl top with trim made out of half round and texture created by appling "mist coats" of semi-gloss black shot from a distance. The paint is Testor's fathom green with clear. I made the rear windows out of clear sheet plastic. Under the hood, I removed the inner fenders to save weight. I used the kits big-block but added the air cleaner and valve cover breather. I also built the panel that runs between the grill and radiator. The hood is resin, painted white to look like a fiberglass one that was just installed. Front bumper was painted silver to look like painted fiberglass unit as well. Chevelles are heavy! Wheels and tires from the parts box. On the inside I omitted the back seats, passenger seat, and console. I added a racing seat, steering wheel, helmet, nitrous, rollbar, and tach. You can also see time cards hanging on the glove box.
  13. Got the interior wrapped up! Body as well!
  14. Older kit, bought it from a swap meet for $2! Painted Testor's one coat green, Duplicolor metallic gray for the graphics, and cheap walmart black on the bottom. All covered in Testor's clear. The tool box is scratch-built, I tinted the rear windows, and built the exhaust to look like a large aftermarket diesel style. The tear graphics were created by ripping pieces of masking tape. Interior recieved a black-wash and a scratch-built coke can. The dash was detail painted.
  15. Thought I would share a model I already have in my collection. It is a 1987 Camaro promo. The raw plastic was "polished" with pledge floor cleaner. Grill/headlights and such were detail painted.
  16. So far I've been getting the chassis and interior wrapped up. The engine is box stock other than a dip-stick made out of a paperclip. Interior coming along. Black flocking and a coke can made up for the passenger. Roll cage work. I shortened the main hoop from the kit, the rest is scratch-built. Sneak peek at the body....
  17. This is a promo model that I modified a little. I came across a resin hood at a model show. I did not want to repaint the whole truck because I liked the blue it was molded in. My solution was a two-tone paint scheme. The top is Testor's german silver and clear, the bottom is raw plastic. The grand-sport style stripes are small strips of reflective trailer tape. The bumpers were all paint detailed. The interior recieved a black-wash and some paint detailing along with a parts box cb radio. I built a sub box for the back of the interior out of sheet plastic. I wanted this to be a tow rig, so out back I built a tow hitch out of square stock. I also added a custom exhaust. All the trim was foiled and the weather stripping was hand painted. I also gave the wheels a black-wash.
  18. Seems like I hardly see 4th gen Camaros on the fourm, so here is one of mine. Paint is Duplicolor teal with Testor's metallic black for the roof and stripes. Wheels and tires came off the Revell C5 corvette, but I painted them black. I had a lot of fun working on the underside of this car. The sub-frame connectors, driveshaft loop, and the exhaust were scratch-built. Most of the suspension components were painted red to replicate aftermarket performance parts. The idea behind this car is that someone bought it wrecked and fixed it up. The engine bay was painted red (originally an anniversary car) and the edges fogged with teal overspray. The strut bar came off a Jada die-cast RX-7. I shaved and repainted the bar before installing it on the camaro.
  19. Very cool build, great details.

    Cobra

    Wow!
  21. This is one of my favorite builds. It is clean and simple. The body is painted Duplicolor Metal Specks blue with Testor's clear. The wheels and tires are from the parts box; Cragars with slicks on the rear and skinnys on the front. It took a little work to get the tailgate to line up, but the end results were worth it. Originally I had planned on a big-block swap, but after I realized the exhaust was molded to the chassis, I decided to keep the v6. I did of course add a little more horsepower so it could spin those slicks! The motor recieved a scratch built single turbo setup. The air cleaner and turbo were also parts box finds. All the piping is evergreen rod with painted tape bands/clamps. Interior was paint detailed, with the addition of a custom line-loc equipped shifter made from a pin. The underside is pretty much box stock. I trimmed the rear springs/shocks for the proper stance, and I painted the rear diff. cover like a checkered flag. You can see the bottom of the intercooler I made out of scrap plastic, in front of the front sway bar. I used the kit's "custom" grill, and gave it a blackwash. The underhood bowtie was hand-painted. Thanks for looking, Comments and criticism welcome!
  22. No problem! Glad I could help! Thanks Everybody!
  23. Thank you, and Five Speeds Rule!
