Fortheloveofgassers replied to Fortheloveofgassers's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thank you so much Tim. I can't begin to you how much I appreciate the help -
Does any one know of available decals for Jim Oddy's Austin. The car was restored and has recently been featured in Gasser Wars magazine and Rodders Journal. Thanks in advance. East Lansing, Mi.

Kenworth 953
Fortheloveofgassers replied to skysoldier46's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At one time I had lots of 953 pics because I wanted to build one. Unfortunately I don't have them any longer. If you do decide to build one I might be able to contact some friends you may have pictures and get you copies. -
Monogram Mack Bulldog
Fortheloveofgassers replied to Fortheloveofgassers's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thank you so much for all who posted. I will investigate the suggestions. All good information Another item that would make this great kit even better is a photo etched emblem and screen on the hood. Has anyone seen that as an available add on? -
I am going to building one of the Mack Bull dog kits. I am interested in udating the hard solid rubber tires with phenmatic tires and a two piece spoke wheel and rim. Does anyone know of a appropriate upgrade that would still look vintage? Modern spoke wheels and tires are too wide. Is anyone casting such a combination in resin? Thanks in advance

Kenworth 953
Fortheloveofgassers replied to skysoldier46's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There was never a kit for the Kenworth 953, however some folks have built it over the years. There was a modeler who during the early 1980's sold resin parts to convert the W900 into a 953, The cab is the same and he sold the hood, axles, transmission, wheels and tires. I don,t think you can buy them any longer but it should be reassuring to note that it has been done and could be done again. I know all of this because I worked for Kenworth for 32 years and saw some great 953 and 953s 1/25 models during the time I was there. Hope this helps -

Citadel paints?
Fortheloveofgassers replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Good morning Monty, I think if you try them you won't be disappointed. I have to pass on one really cool thing I discovered. Have you ever seen chrome exhaust pipes that have turned blue from the heat as they come out of the head? This is especially prevelant on motor cycles. You can duplicate this look with Citals blue washes. It is amazing how well it looks if you are going ultimate details. Hope you can find the paint they are fun to experiment with. -
I am building the new Krutis Kraft midget. What a great kit but that is another story. It looks to me like the tires in the kit are asphalt tires. Do you agree? If my premise is correct has any one found a replacement dirt tire or been able to modify the kit tire to a dirt tire. If so would you mind sharing Thanks in advance.

Citadel paints?
Fortheloveofgassers replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Good morning. I am a model car guy but use Citadel paints all the time for things like leather seats or bringing out detail on a other parts. I absolutely love for them bush painting. I have not yet tried to airbrush them. I would recommend that you find a gaming store who sells them so you can actually look at the huge amount colors and washes they sell. Let me know if you have questions about specific colors. -

Leaky Boat Louie question
Fortheloveofgassers posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Normally I am a serious model builder but wanted to take short break and do something wacky. So I started one of the weirdo-ohs, Leaky Boat Louie this weekend. My kit did not have decals for the "swimming area" sign and the boat motor logo as shown in the box art. So question: is my kit missing the decals or are none included. Thanks in advance for reading this and any help you can provide. -
Johan Challenger funny car "Ram Rod"
Fortheloveofgassers replied to Fortheloveofgassers's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Wow thanks for all the replies. I sure am glad there are more knowledgable out then me. Love the pictures! -
Hello fellow drag fans. I just purchased the Johan Ram Rod, Upon examining the Challenger body it seems too short to be a period correct funny car. Am I wrong? A little research on line seems to indicate the MPC Cuda funny car was too short and was just a stock Cuda body in a funny car kit. Did the Johan kit suffer from the same fate. I appreciate any input and wouldn't even ask if I had the 1:1 version in my garage.

Excellent build, I am working on the same model as I write this. Hope mine turns out as nice!
