Tools You Can't Live Without
MonoPed replied to Kenny's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just recently snagged this from Horbor Freight, on sale for a song. I've just used it a couple of times, but I now wonder how I measured stuff without it for so long. It is my new fav tool!! -
Hasegawa '58 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa!!!!!
MonoPed replied to larrygre's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am sooo getting this kit....LOL!!! I hope this kit sells well enough to get some more vintage Ferrari kits in the pipeline! -
Thanx!! The Wrangler car was regular Testors blue and yellow, the Stroh car was Model Master Blue Angel Blue, and the Zerex car was regular Testors red and white. For the Zerex car, I cut most of the decals apart and painted most of the red.

These kits got me started back in the car side of the hobby, but I kinda got burned out on them, and began to find hotrods and sportscars much more satisfying to build. Still, I'm happy with most ofthe NASCAR models I built, and the ones I still have are sitting proudly in the case. Here's a few of them: Dale's Wrangler T-Bird: Alan Kulwicki's Zerex T-Bird Mark Martin's Stroh Light T-Bird: Mark's Folger's T-Bird: Davey Allison's Busch Series Lumina: Bill Elliott's "Thunderbat" Dale's Bass Pro Shops Monte Carlo: Mark's SynPower Taurus: And Rusty's Miller Light/Harley Davidson Taurus: Seems like a good way to break in the the new section

Mark, just leave the battery out of the kit, and for heaven's sake, don't try to teach those poor kids how to wire one up...

Hasegawa '58 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa!!!!!
MonoPed replied to larrygre's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not only the 250SWB, but the 250 GT Spyder, the 275 and 365 variants woud be welcome as well. I'd really love to see all those kits in white plastic instead of the normal red, black and "silver" plastic. But you are right about the SWB, it would be a most welcome re-issue!! -
Is this the "pontoon fendered" 250 TR?

Fantastic build! Love the paint scheme, and the fit/finish is right on the money. -
The only T I have, built from the "boomer bucket" issue of the little T with a bunch of ###### from the parts box. Hard to believe that I built it nearly ten years ago

Questions About Taking Pics
MonoPed replied to Rudy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My approach is probably the most "low tech", and certainly the most "low buck". I place the model on my kitchen counter, turn on the overhead flourescents, with my camera attached to a tripod. Perfect? Hell no, but it works pretty well, which is good, 'cause I'm too lazy to set up a "studio" -
Bigger. The engine needs to be bigger.

Anyone who wouldn't dig that on Christmas morning has somethin' wrong with 'em - neat build!!

For My Democrat Friends: "Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere; And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher." Cool pics!! -
Do any of these Z-car kits have a left hand drive dash and us spec mirrors? Is there a 280Z kit out there? I'd love to build a model of the 75½ 280Z I owned back in the day... gold paint, black interior, and fuel injected - lotta fun to drive
-
Neat build!! That's first one I've seen completed, and ya did a nice job in it!

What's Your Background Noise?
MonoPed replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I get bored with talk radio or cable news, I usually fire up the CD changer... 100 cd's out of my collection loaded up, hit "random", and I am my own favorite radio station -
87-93 mustang LX coupe/Hatch
MonoPed replied to white00gt's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The 1:1 does slope a little, but the side shot of the prototype body does make the slope of the trunk look a little exagerated: I don't know if it is the red plastic or what, maybe seeing it in one color will give a better idea of the finished project. None of the comments about Darin's work were made with any disrespect (I don't think), only made because this is one subject that HAS to be right on the money, or it will end up the dust heap of "could have been...". Not only that, but it seems alot of us that want the model also owned a Mustang LX, so we are looking at this with a very critical eye. It's still a work in progress, so we'll have to wait untill the first copy is popped from the mold to see how it'll turn out... -
Great info guys, really!! I use my PC for web surfing, email, burning cds, model pics, and I built a small website in notepad. I've used Win95, Win98, and for the past few years, been using Win2kPro. I don't run a whole lot of third party software, mainly an old version of Winamp (MP3 player), ACDSee (image viewer), Photoshop 5.5, Nero CD burning (came with CD-RW drive), Audiograbber (CD ripping), Firefox, and my camera software. From what y'all have been saying, a Mac or an iMac would suit those uses just fine. Maybe time to take a trip to an Apple store...
-
Ok, so I'm not as far off my rocker as I first thought, which is good, I guess. What do you guys think of the iMac?
-
How many Mac users are there on here? I know I'm gonna have to replace this computer sometime in the near future, and it's gonna be a choice between Window Vista and Mac. One of my friends has Vista on her Dell Laptop, and while the computer itself is quite nice, Vista is ######. So anyway, any potential issues for a long time (10+ years) Windows user switching over to the Mac os? I know Macs are a little more exensive than a PC, but is the addition expense really worth it? Lookin for some honest opinions here, so don't hold back. Thanx!!
-
Fantastic build!! Interesting color, and nice engine bay details!
-
Holy ######!! I remember building one of those when I was a kid, and haven't seen one since. Your's looks a whole lot better than the one I built back in the day!!
-
Nice build, very clean!!

Ya done good Bill!!!
