  1. That's a super clean build Brad. A beautiful truck. Good photography too.
  2. Nice work. I love the colour. Does this kit have the 8v engine or the 16v?
  3. Nice one Mike. This is an idea I had in the past too, but never got round to it. Looks like you're gonna make a fine job of this. look forward to seeing your progress.
  4. This is really nice work Andrew. Its going to be a cracking '57 when complete. Thanks for the kit review in your first post - I was not aware of this kit. I have the ordinary AMT 57 and I bought a MCG photo etch sheet to go with it. If only I knew I could just get this kit! Good luck with this - I'm looking forward to seeing it complete. I especially like the extra detail work on the engine and those fuel tank straps from BMF.
  5. How lucky am I. My favourite car of all time was made in the year of my birth; 1971. A Lamborghini Miura SV.
  6. This is some great work Henry. Did you manage to fix your windshield? I am looking forward to seeing this one finished.
  7. Cracking job on this Lola Henry. Is it the latest re-release of this kit? Did it have a photo etched sheet included? I am thinking of getting this kit.
  8. Nice job Dominik. It looks really good in white. Those Alclad bumpers came out very well - they look like kit chrome! I think it looks just fine without the mirrors.
  9. What a shame. I have two of these (a convertible and a coupe) in my stash and I have been looking forward to building them for some time. I was very impressed with the kit on first impressions, but inaccuracies as mentioned are a real turn-off. Maybe I will build them a customs or use parts as spares. Those PE hinges are a real nice touch, but of course they're no good if they don't work.
  10. This is cracking work Geoff. It's going to be one smart model when finished. It is true that this particular Fujimi kit is probably the pinnacle of 1/24 kits in terms of detail. I am in the process of building this kit too so I will enjoy watching your build. Keep up the good work.
  11. Yes - I was thinking the same Damir. I trial fitted the front PE windscreen trim and it doesn't even fit - so I will be leaving that out! Those wheels on the 1:1 car appear to be about 18" or 19" and I think they look awesome. The kit wheels are the same design, but of the original DeTomaso size (I guess 16"). The aluminium sleeve idea sounds good. I have done this before, but with a plastic sleeve and it worked quite well. Thanks for the idea Jeff.
  12. I thought I would build a 'quick curbside' out of the box from Fujimi's kit, but as always I'm getting carried away with adding extra's along the way. Here's a pic of a nice 1:1 Pantera with the kind of look I'm going for. If only I had a set of 1/24 wheels like that. I've started with Fujimi's recent release. The proportions of this kit are so much better than any I have come across in the past. I'm also using the PE set from Studio 27. The first job has been to cut away the moulded in grill mesh on the front and rear - it will be replaced with PE parts from the Studio 27 set. Curiously, the PE set does not include any door handles. I find raised details like this are hard to work around when polishing out the painted body so I am removing it. I will be adding the door handles back in after the body has been painted and polished. Nearly ready for paint. Now what colour shall I go for...

    69 Judge

Nice one Brett - I think it looks better without the spoiler.

    PONTIAC FIERO

Great work. Looks completely different to any Fiero I have ever seen - much better!

    427 ac cobra

Looks great Martin. I do love a nice Cobra.
  16. For the smooth look I will be losing the Galaxie 500 script. The trim on the rear quarter has caused me quite some concern... Removing this trim was harder than I first thought . Keeping the body line straight was tricky. I will be adding some photo etched wipers later; so - the moulded in wipers must go. This was another tricky job.
  17. The first coat of grey primer on the floor reveals that it is still far from perfect, but its a start. I'll continue with this, but just for a change of scenery I have turned my attention to the body. I will either have 'shaved' door handles or add them again after the body has been painted. So, for now I am removing them completely.
  18. Here's some more progress... Out of the kit there is a mis-match between the floor pan and underside of the interior floor. I'll try to fix this. The two holes left from removing the mouled in exhaust silencers. I have raised the boot floor slightly to accommodate the new exhaust system.

    944 turbo.

Nice job Mitchell. I love the detail on the strut tops and the lever on the front seat for rear passenger access. Interestingly, I noticed over the weekend that Hasagawa are re-releasing this and the 968. I saw them on HLJ's website.
  20. Nice job Carl. Paint looks great.
  21. That's the meanest looking 'Stang. Imagine that approaching you in the rear view mirror!
  22. A stunning model Darryl. I though for sure that blue would have taken a months worth of polishing, but you say no polishing required. I wish I could get a wet look finish like that straight out of the gun! Lovely pics. Do you have any of the interior? Just curious about how that shifter looks.
  23. Thanks for the info about the convertible kit Si. I am amazed that you remember that Small Talk project Si. I first saw the Small Talk section in Street Machine magazine around 1985 and that was what inspired me to build better models. Without Small Talk my model building would never really have taken off. That red Galaxie was built by Terry Ross - the editor of the Small Talk section. He went on to create Speed Freaks and you can see what he's up to now on his website www.speed-still.com/index.html - its really worth a look if you want to see how abstract automotive art can be!
  24. Here's some of the work on the interior... I've never been a big fan of the one-piece interior tubs (luckily the kit manufacturers don't do it so much with newer tooling). The problem in, my opinion, is with the depth of engraving - or lack of it. The newer kits with separate door panels are so much better. The second problem with one piece tubs is that the door panels always seem to be on a slight angle - never quite vertical. I guess this is due to the restrictions of the moulding process. I have decided to cut off the door panels on this project and I will be scratch building some new ones. The third reason - and probably the most important one - is that the kit interior's door panels seem to depict the ones for a convertible (at the rear). Looking at some of the reference pics it should look like this (above). Did AMT ever make a 65 Galaxie convertible? Because of the inclined door panels I have had to widen the interior floor. I have also removed the moulded in foot pedals as I will be replacing these later on. Before I can progress much further I have a couple of questions and I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to help me... 1) Are the inner fender on the Galaxie structural - can I leave them out? 2) Is the kit interior actually for a convertible?
