  1. I keep coming back to this thread to look at your Ferrari Jason - it is fantastic! Do you have any tips on painting wood effect - as you have done on the steering wheel rim?
  2. Thanks for sharing those pictures of your Green Monster with us Darryl. What a great story to go with it. Looks like yours is nearly finished - its gonna look really good. I've often thought that I should build some models of my old 1:1 cars, but I don't have anything quite as interesting as yours in my past.
  3. What did you use to get in all the nooks and tight spots to sand the texture away from the floorboards? I need to do this on a car I'm working on. That's a good question Jesse. I used a sanding stick as far as possible. To get right into the nooks I used a combination of two methods... 1) Cut a pies of fresh 320 grade wet & dry paper with scissors for sharp edge and sand as far as possible into the edge. This is difficult as it is impossible to apply pressure over the last 1-2mm (not with the size of my banana fingers), so you have to rely on the rigidity of the we & dry paper. 2) I use a No 17 Xacto blade (flat square head - like a chisel). This is held perpendicular to the textured surface and gently scraped side to side. This is a really good way of getting right in to corners and giver a real sharp edge. I used this method to carve the detail into the underside of the hood too. Hope this works for your project Jesse.
  4. Super work there Art. I love the scratch building....amazing! Looking forward to seeing more.
  5. Progress on project Galaxie has been embarrassingly slow. You know how it is; work, family, life... they all get in the way of our hobby . Anyway, with excuses out of the way, I thought it was about time I shared some progress with you all... I will be building the interior with no rear seats so I've had to fabricate the floor structure - where the seat would have been. The first thing is to add is the cross rib. The rear fire wall is not really the right shape. The kit part is completely flat and sits about 2 scale inches too far forward. Fine, if it were covered with the seat. In the pic below you can see that I have pencilled where two curved wheel arch bulges should be. I have decided to remove the rear parcel shelf. It will not be used in the final build. I cut away the rear fire wall and fabricated a new one a couple of millimetres further back. More good use of Milliput... ...and here it is looking roughly how it should! The area ahead of the rib will have the normal carpet. I've sanded away the 'texture' so I was thinking of using some flock. Now, I've never used the stuff before and I see there are many different brands - most coloured. Any advise on a good brand of flock material from you guys would be appreciated. It needs to be really fine - so that it looks in scale.
  6. wow - that is stunning. The best '36 I've ever seen!
  7. A great job there Jason. I love the colour - it looks very period, and if you didn't say, I would have thought it was a real Ferrari shade! I like the nice deep panel lines and good use of chrome foil/Alclad. I have two of these kits on the shelf waiting to be built (a Spyder and a Coupe), and - yes - the windshield posts on my Spyder are snapped too. Very nice to see a Ferrari of this vintage without the Barroni wheels. The kit ones would not have looked good on such a nicely finished model anyway. I can only hope that when I finally build my one of these it looks as good as yours. Do you remember what the part number for those Campagnolo wheel + tyres were? HRM...?
  8. A very cool Camino. Good photography too.
  9. Nice Z28! Good choice of colour, nice wheels and great detail.
  10. This is a stunning model Jurgen. Your scratch building skills are amazing. It is utterly flawless - as are your other 1/20 builds. Do you have any pictures of the building process? I would love to see more.
  11. A very nice build there Yuriy. A very clean build with good choice of colour and great photography.
  12. Nice work Mike!
  13. Nice one. Those decals must have been a challenge!
  14. This is a spectacular build! I bet many builders of a 1:1 would not have put in this much effort. Keep up the amazing work.
  15. Lovely build Bruce. Great colour combo and a perfect stance. I would love a 1:1 one just like that in my garage.
  16. Looking good. Where are those wheels from?

    1969 Camaro

That's a super sharp looking model Chris. Nice work. I love the colour and the flawless finish.
  18. For me it as to be the 356 Porsche range from Fujimi. Not the easiest kits to build due to the shear complexity, but detailing and accuracy to die for! Tamiya's Enzo is also superbly engineered and I suspect their new LaFerrari will be a masterpiece of engineering too.
  19. A BEAUTIFUL model Sean. I can't wait to see the kit.
  20. This is going to look really bad for me... Number of kits in my stash: 283 Number of kits completed in the last year: 0 That make my percentage: 0% ( I worked on a lot of stuff - just didn't complete anything!)
  21. I just spotted a couple of extras for the LaFerrari on Tamiya's website. They've got a PE set (Item No:12654) and a carbon decal sheet (item No: 12656). They're both shown at the bottom of this link... http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/24333/index.htm With the LaFerrari kit due for despatch from HLJ any time now I've decided to order both extras now. Hopefully all will arrive together. Something to do for Christmas!
  22. Very nice and squeaky clean. I love the Red Fire paint Tom.
  23. I'm not sure if news of a new release belongs in this section. I just pre-ordered this from HLJ... http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ12583/Aut It's one of their 'Real Spors Car' series, so I guess we can look forward to an over simplified engine, and little underside detail. Still; it's just such an insane looking car that I though I must put one on my shelf next to my Countach and Mercielago. It'll make them look boring.
  24. Nice job. Some of those pictures look like a 1:1 car!
  25. That is soooo beautiful Peter. I watched your build with interest. I am very familiar with this kit and have been looking forward to building it some day. Your one looks absolutely stunning. I remember seeing a Coupe in this colour racing against a boat on Top Gear. I remember thinking I would like to build my Fujimi in the same colour - but you beat me to it! The Top Gear clip is here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBBy-4tnWoM
