Koenig Competition Ferrari Testarossa (1/24 scale by Fujimi)
beeRS replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
Great build of an iconic car. Looks ace! I remember reading about Walter Koenig and his insane Testarossa as a teenager. My mind was blown. I've still got the magazine articles - they date back to 1986. Interestingly, the car in the magazine has quite a few detail differences to the Fujimi kit. I guess there must have been a few variations. I've got a couple of these Fujimi kits in my stash (the Spyder and the Coupe). I'm inspired to crack on with them now.- 43 replies

Very nice build. Are you going to use the kit parts for the engine cover mesh? -
Still a rare sight here in the UK.

Nice diorama. I used to have a 1:1 of these. (The XR3, not the coop!)

A beautiful level of craftsmanship. I love the styling. I just checked out the build thread for this. Thanks for sharing this with us.

An absolutely stunning build. Thanks for sharing it with us. I love the art deco styling. -
A beautiful model of a beautiful car. Thanks for posting your pics. I have this kit in my collection; the High Tech one. I am not looking forward to building the engine now.

Very nice build! I wish I had a 1:1 version of this sat on my drive.

A Zonda would be great. With the unveiling of the new Huayra Roadster, I guess it wouldn't take Aoshima too much re-tooling to do that too...

I didn't order the PE fret at the same time as the kit from HLJ. I looked closely at the pics available on the internet and I could see that the side indicator/Pagani script ovals were wrong. Also the accelerator pedal is wrong. I hope I'm not sounding too picky, but they look badly wrong to me. I wonder if Aoshima are going to correct this? If not, I hope one of the after-market PE manufacturers do. Also, a pre-cut CF decal sheet will make life a lot easier.

Very nice build and great colour choice too. Was it hard to get the panel fit to look so good? Did you have to do any 'tweeking' to the doors etc, or is this how good the fit is straight from the box?

Nice build and the very best colour too.

Very nice! Where did you find that cloth tape for the seats? I had this kit about 30 years ago (long gone now). If I remember correctly, the doors open on this kit? -
I have used clear laquer from an aerosol can over kit decals on a project I did over 20 years ago. I went really easy with the first few light coats and then built up with several heavier coats. Then flattened the paint so the decal edge no longer had a step, then applied a last coat of clear. It made a really cool custom paint job. The model is still on my shelf and looks perfect.

Nice progress on this Jonathan. This kit is a real gem and it looks like you're doing it justice. I'm waiting for a pre-cut CF decal sheet to become available before I start work on mine. The Aoshima PE sheet is nice, but I'm sure other after-market suppliers will be providing efforts soon.

Nice work with the polished glass Geoff. One idea I've always wanted to do is use the Future shine that many on here talk of. I've never found that product here in England. Is it something you've come across?
