A really cool and different rod. I like different. I am familiar with Monograms MG TC kit, but I never thought one could look this good. I'm guessing that's the Lotus 7's engine in there (a Ford pre-Cross-Flow).

That's a really nice job Jürgen. This is a project I have considered in the past. Its a lot of scratch building, but you've done a great job there. I guess you have glued the rear engine cover lid shut?

I have been looking closely at some reference pictures of the 1:1 Galaxie. The picture below shows that there is a body coloured panel in between the grill and the bumper... (Interestingly - the picture above shows the Galaxie with a clear lens covering the entire vertical headlamp stack. This is the only time I have seen this on a 65 Galaxie. It is not present on any other reference pictures I've found on the net. Maybe this is a special model? Below is the kit's front chrome with the grill and bumper moulded as one. Very (I mean very) carefully I was able to cut the bumper off without scuffing the chrome. This took about a hundred passes with the No11 Xacto blade. The kit chrome is not perfect to begin with so I still may have to re-chrome these parts. Below, you can see the new body panel made from flat sheet to fit in between the bumper and grill. There is a similar body coloured panel on the rear bumper... In the pic below you can see that I have added this panel. You can also see the body modifications made around the inner boot opening. With the body nearing paint stage, I've turned my attention back to the motor. I really like the idea of one of these... It's a Sonny's 727. With a name like mine - what would you expect! I believe its based on a Ford so it would be perfect. The closest in1/25 scale I can see is a Ross Gibson 815, but I'm not sure if this would be a good starting point. I'm not afraid of scratch building a few bits, but I am at a bit of a loss about which Ross Gibson engine is which. The pic below shows Boss valve covers... ...and this pic shows what looks like Sonny's valve covers. I'd be grateful if anyone here knows what Ross Gibson engine part number I need. I don't want to order, wait 2 weeks (that's at least how long it'll take to deliver to the UK) and find I got the wrong one.

What's it called... 'Hemini'

Hey Kevin, All the AirTrax stuff is very low volume. You can get one of their kits by contacting a chap called Tapani Rauramo on raurata@yahoo.com They are based in Finland, but Tapani's English is very good. You can see some of the kits here. http://www.hapico.com/00_C/02_24.htm And here... http://public.fotki.com/tomcoolidge/scandinavian-resin/dsc00686.html#media

That's a really cool rod Eugene. I love the 90's style pastel colour. In this scale the photo could almost pass as a 1:1 car. Good job that it didn't sell on ebay - you should be happy to hold on to this one for ever!

Really good start there. I look forward to seeing more progress on this. It will be really cool.

I absolutely love this! Nice work Tom.
-
Very nice build Tamas. I especially like the pearl red.
-
Nice Dart! I love the colour combo and the unusual hood/aircleaner idea. Its good to see things done a little differently. Those wheels are awesome. I'm building the Mr Norm's one at the moment and the body colour on mine is almost the same!

That's a super clean build Brad. A beautiful truck. Good photography too. -
Nice work. I love the colour. Does this kit have the 8v engine or the 16v?
-
Nice one Mike. This is an idea I had in the past too, but never got round to it. Looks like you're gonna make a fine job of this. look forward to seeing your progress.

This is really nice work Andrew. Its going to be a cracking '57 when complete. Thanks for the kit review in your first post - I was not aware of this kit. I have the ordinary AMT 57 and I bought a MCG photo etch sheet to go with it. If only I knew I could just get this kit! Good luck with this - I'm looking forward to seeing it complete. I especially like the extra detail work on the engine and those fuel tank straps from BMF.

This is some great work Henry. Did you manage to fix your windshield? I am looking forward to seeing this one finished.
-
Cracking job on this Lola Henry. Is it the latest re-release of this kit? Did it have a photo etched sheet included? I am thinking of getting this kit.
-
Nice job Dominik. It looks really good in white. Those Alclad bumpers came out very well - they look like kit chrome! I think it looks just fine without the mirrors.
-
What a shame. I have two of these (a convertible and a coupe) in my stash and I have been looking forward to building them for some time. I was very impressed with the kit on first impressions, but inaccuracies as mentioned are a real turn-off. Maybe I will build them a customs or use parts as spares. Those PE hinges are a real nice touch, but of course they're no good if they don't work.

This is cracking work Geoff. It's going to be one smart model when finished. It is true that this particular Fujimi kit is probably the pinnacle of 1/24 kits in terms of detail. I am in the process of building this kit too so I will enjoy watching your build. Keep up the good work.

Yes - I was thinking the same Damir. I trial fitted the front PE windscreen trim and it doesn't even fit - so I will be leaving that out! Those wheels on the 1:1 car appear to be about 18" or 19" and I think they look awesome. The kit wheels are the same design, but of the original DeTomaso size (I guess 16"). The aluminium sleeve idea sounds good. I have done this before, but with a plastic sleeve and it worked quite well. Thanks for the idea Jeff.

I thought I would build a 'quick curbside' out of the box from Fujimi's kit, but as always I'm getting carried away with adding extra's along the way. Here's a pic of a nice 1:1 Pantera with the kind of look I'm going for. If only I had a set of 1/24 wheels like that. I've started with Fujimi's recent release. The proportions of this kit are so much better than any I have come across in the past. I'm also using the PE set from Studio 27. The first job has been to cut away the moulded in grill mesh on the front and rear - it will be replaced with PE parts from the Studio 27 set. Curiously, the PE set does not include any door handles. I find raised details like this are hard to work around when polishing out the painted body so I am removing it. I will be adding the door handles back in after the body has been painted and polished. Nearly ready for paint. Now what colour shall I go for...

Nice one Brett - I think it looks better without the spoiler.

Great work. Looks completely different to any Fiero I have ever seen - much better!

Looks great Martin. I do love a nice Cobra.
