  1. Hey..Hey....Looking good, Man....I have yet to build one of these things.....I'll be watching....This build is making me think about it....
  2. Hey, Gator....Semper Fi....
  3. Thanks, Fellas.....You guys are too kind..... And, Yep....I'm gonna build a stake bed like my Pete 377 tire truck and make it removable, so I can display it both ways.....I'll show you what I mean, later.....Should be real soon, though....
  4. Now there's something I hadn't thought about.....Added instability in crosswinds.....Could explain how I see a few guys get a little squirrely every once in a while.....Thanks for that tidbit of info....Things that make you go, Hmmmm.....
  5. Hey, there, Gator....Oorah!!!! When did you make it over here, Man??? Welcome aboard......I think you'll find quite a few good builds here, too.....
  6. I've built a couple.....Got another one planned for my next build......
  7. Got a little more done, over the weekend.....Since I knew the mirrors would be next to impossible to get together with the chrome plating, I went ahead and stripped all the chrome.....Just like I did on my previous Freightliners, I assembled them apart from the rest of the truck.....Making it much easier.....I also added a couple of flat strips to each one....Should make mounting them easier, as well.... Also making it a weed burner requiring me to rework the exhaust.....Turned out to be easier than I thought....A cut here and there....A little heat and then I had my pipe.... All that's left that I'd consider a task is that drive shaft and such....But anyway.....
  8. Nice job on the skirts JT, but here is a little help for you next set.
  9. Hey, Buddy....You pretty much "threw" that thing, together....Looks awesome.....I was going to do that with my newest Volvo, as well (steering)....I had some old MB Actros rigs that I probably won't build that will, kindly, donate their front axles to a slightly more worthy conventional.......Also toying with stretching one and adding a drom, as well....These things were made for race hauling.....No mods needed in most cases....The trucks come off the line awesome.....Great job on this one, Man....Can't wait to see that trailer.....You've definitely inspired me....Don't be surprised if some of your ideas show up in some of my work......
  10. Don't know why it took so long for them to be required, really....Almost every truck in Europe seems to have some type of trailer skirting....Whether it be some tool boxes or just skirting it's there..... They're not hard to make, Man....It's simpler than you might think.....Just take some flat plastic and cut two about an inch and a quarter high, and to however long it is from the tandem to the landing gear.....Take some quarter inch plastic angle and affix it to the top of each piece.....Then glue them in place on the trailer..... Most of the 1:1's are installed with the simplest of square tubing here and there....And I've seen them installed on the inside of the landing gear as well as the outside.....Cheap is the name of the game in this world, I'm sure..... Here's what I've done.... Seriously....Don't over think it, Man.....It's just that easy..... Now the trailer tail is another story all together, though.....I think it looks a little goofy, in my opinion, so I doubt I'll ever attempt one.....
  11. Man, that's an amazing old truck........I like that old Pete, too.....How many axles does that tanker have???
  12. Man, this is a nice piece of work.....Way to go on those discs....Wow....That's a lot of work for just a few parts.....Very nice.....
  13. Sometimes it takes a kick in the pants to make you realize where you stand.....Some people HAVE to learn the hard way.....
  14. Excellent work on that ram....That's a great idea......I had been looking for something to use for that....I had thought about those, but didn't have any idea how they worked.....I figured if I took it apart, I'd just break it.....I don't know why I didn't just shell out the $2 and just see what I could see, but you've done the grunt work for me.....Thanks a lot, Man.....This is a good tip.....Gonna get to work on one for mine, soon......
  15. Yeah.....You hate to have to be that way, but he made his own bed by arguing with the boss....Can't bite the hand that feeds you....Says a little bit about his character....It's a shame.....
  16. Seems like a lot of trailer for that load.....However, it could have been just a "smidge" over the weight capacity of a smaller trailer, too.....Gotta stay legal, you know......
  17. Oh, that is nice.....Very nice.....Looks great....
  18. Yep....I'm thinking similar to that, Dan......I kinda like the stake bed idea.... And that's not a bad idea, either, Sean...
  19. This is true....I'd expect about $30 a set of 8 is good, for the tires and $20 for a set of 8 on the rims, but any more than that, then I'd have to cannibalize....I understand your dilemma, though.....But, because a whole kit of the "wrong" tires can be had, now for $70 or so, you have to make do.....So $50 is top dollar for a set of rims and tires for me, for sure.....Just can't justify any more than that....
  20. That could work....However, I'm considering making it into a stake bed.....Brain is still working....
  21. Dude !!! That is an amazing piece of equipment....Colossal....
  22. Oh, I'm sold on that stuff, Man.....May take a little more cutting, but like I said, "would last a lifetime...."I'm sure I'll be heading to Home Depot, soon enough.....Hopefully, I'll remember I need to pick some of that stuff up....
  23. Man, that is in bad shape.....Great job on the weathering, here.....Should fetch about a hundred dollars for the scrap metal, alone.....
  24. I agree.....That box art is amazing.....
  25. Sounds like a pretty good idea.....I could make that work....And it looks like it could last a lifetime....
