  1. Getting really close, now.....At this point, I was really getting exited...... Used quite a few jewels for the chicken lights..... And here it is in the sun....Very close to completion.....
  2. Engine is now in..... Now I'm just adding pictures all Willy Nilly, it seems..... Air cleaners added.... Finished sleeper and cab..... Just folded a piece of paper towel and crimped it on both sides for the pillow....Another folded piece for the blanky.... Along with a book shelf and flat screen TV....
  3. Sleepy time.... Interior is now inside the cab.....
  4. Now, it's interior time, for sure.....Put in a lap top and some old style cup holders.....
  5. Time for a little primer.....This was back before I used black primer for everything..... The primary paints that will be used.... Now with it's two tone look...
  6. Now, let's work on the interior....Paint wise, any way..... My first mockup....Up to this point, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to pull it off.... Again, my simplistic winch assembly....
  7. Got enough done to get a little paint down on some things..... Notice my simplistic winch assembly.....Just some plastic here and there eyeballed from some other wreckers I'd seen....
  8. Then the fuel tank brackets.....I toyed around with everything I could think of until finally just carving them out, one at a time Then the winch set up.....Wasn't sure what I was going to do, here, either.....I just winged it, and it came out ok.... Carving the pulleys was pretty tricky, as well.....I don't do circles very well.....Finally got it, though.....
  9. Tool boxes and a Texas bumper, also had to be made..... Then came the box and the boom.....That was much fun..... Took some working out, but I got it to work after a while....
  10. Had to make up some homemade air cleaners, longer fuel tanks, and some seat backs..... And the hood gap needed filling, as well....
  11. It has been, recently, brought to my attention that I never did a build thread for this one.....Many of you may have seen it in its completed form, but per request, I will go ahead and post it.....Now, this may take a while.....I'll have to post it piecemeal, as to keep from losing any data because of my "not so new" computer... In the beginning....I had to do some work on the cab to make it a little nicer inside..... The hood got a little treatment, too..... Had to add some mounts for the new air cleaners that would, eventually, adorn the sides..... Then came the chassis stretch....
  12. Man, I almost couldn't hold it together after looking at that.....Being a Marine and coming back without a scratch makes me all the more thankful to Jesus my God....And to the ones that fought before me and after me...... That is one awesome looking truck.... OOHRAH !!!!!
  13. Oh, yeah...That would be cool, Mike....I'd love to see how you did yours.... It was a tough choice with those cabovers you built, too....Those are just as amazing....They're so good that people were asking when those "kits" were produced......Amazing..... I know I'll be working on my build thread, tonight.....I have a lot of pics to post.....I didn't know it took that much work.....It was one of the "funnest" models I ever built..... And I also want to mention everyone who posted stuff in this thread, as well.....EVERY LAST ONE of these builds are worthy of serious mention......I like all of them.....I'd love to throw the names of everyone on here, because I like them all....The Autocars....The Brockways....The Diamond Reos....The gooseneck trailers.....The oil field stuff.....Man.....It's ALL good......Thanks guys for posting such good work....I've gotten ideas from everybody, here......
  14. Hmmmm.....All of them look pretty feasible.....But I think you have one more option....Just go straight out the back of the truck like an 80's 5.0 Mustang....Or holes right out the back end of the truck with the tips just visible along with the tail lights or something......Just a thought.....Should be legal...School buses do....
  15. Thanks, Guys....I appreciate that......I don't have a build thread for the 1/16th Pete...I had done one, but I forgot that forum is no longer around.....I think I will do that for you.....I'll have it done by tomorrow......Oddly, it was the very 1st 1/16 scaler I'd ever built.....Not sure what possessed me to go that far with a first time build, but it came out pretty good........ You boys have some pretty AWESOME builds, too....This is my favorite forum......There's so much good stuff on here, I'm finding it almost IMPOSSIBLE to pick a favorite.....As soon as I get links for all of them, I'll post them..... One is already here....Mike has that beautiful 1/16 scale Stepps wrecker....It's just beautiful what he did, there....
  16. Hey, Jeff....I have to say that the Walmart version is an awesome paint for primer....And I think that it's "cheapness", is the reason why it doesn't affect the plastic at all....More expensive paints have more solvents in them, and this stuff must have less....So in turn, it doesn't affect plastic as much....I've had NO problems with the stuff..... And like I said....The Home Depot Quick Color is a "perfect" match for Testors 1149 Flat Black...It really is.... And BOTH can be sprayed DIRECTLY onto the plastic....No problems, at all.....
  17. That's a good looking truck, Man....I like it.....It looks great in front of that garage dio you got.....I like that....I'm gonna have to build something like that for a backdrop for my models....Great job on that Pete....
  18. Man, you got some good stuff on the shelf....I still keep looking at that Road Boss....I can't get enough of that one....It just looks GOOD.... And oh yeah.....I do like orange.....BUT....The fleet is nearly done....Just about time for another color.... But you didn't hear that from me....
  19. This is a tough thing to pick one model out of my entire collection.....I can't really say.....I'm thinking I like my wreckers the most.....They keep jumping out at me, I guess..... My 1/25 scale Lonestar wrecker And my 1/16 scale Pete As far as someone else's builds....Hmmm....I'll have to get back to you on that one....Soooo many.....
  20. Great shots, Clayton.....You know I'm diggin' those race rigs.....Gives me some more ideas....Thanks a lot, Man.... And that's a pretty cool looking old truck, Mike.....Wow...I'm not sure I'd be able to bed down in one of those tiny sleepers, though....I'd probably freak out.....lol....
  21. This is a great looking build, Man....I'm really diggin' that tail light setup.....Very nice.....Not to mention the rest of the great mods to this truck....Outstanding...
  22. Good looking project, Man....I'll be checking this one out, for sure....
  23. That is a some seriously awesome pinstriping....The entire project looks fantastic.....Great job....
  24. Man, you always crank out some awesome work....This is no exception.....Great job on everything....I like the color choices and decals....Just looks great....
