Update: "General Pete"
kilrathy10 replied to bandit1's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I do like that orange, Man.....It's the frame painted the same color that gets me....Man, that's a nice piece of work....I think I now know what I'm going to do with MY California Hauler..... -

Everything does go together well.....However, when you get to installing the radiator to the chassis, that part can be a little tricky.....Make SURE you test fit where everything goes in relation to the hood and bumper tilt mechanism.....That seems to give everybody fits.....Stumped me, too when I built my first one, but I eventually figured out how it's supposed to work.... Here you go.....This is my build thread....This is how it is supposed to look..... Totally not trying to take over your thread, by the way..... I hope you don't think that......Just trying to help, as anyone here would tell you..... -
Nice work, Man....Very nice work.....I like the way you did this one up......Great job.....
-
Nice idea.....I've seen 1:1 Camaros done up this way using an aftermarket body kit.....Just a front end and tail light treatment, though.....Haven't seen any go as far as hood treatment.....Great job on these, though.....

I remember these things....I wanted one, so bad, when I was younger....Nice work....The wheels really look good on it.....

Depending on you budget and ambition......If you're looking to hone your skills a bit without breaking the bank, I'd suggest you go after something like a Snap KW or Pete to work on your paint skills....Or, if that's too easy, then snag one of the International Prostar or Lonestar kits......They don't disappoint......Both are WAY COOL.....

Nice looking Pete.....I really like the first pic with the lowloader.....It really looks good set up like that.....That excavator and loader look awesome, too....Where did you get those??? Very nice work..... -
That, actually, looks pretty good.....You've done a great job on this.....Everybody knows how much work it takes to make this trailer look "right", and you've done very well....Everything looks good....I'm, genuinely impressed at what you've done, here.....What a build.....Very nice work......I like what you did with the headlights and such.....Looks really good.....

I see nothing but excellence, here.....Awesome work....I'm loving it without the "go faster" stripes.....Very nice work.....

I tell you what.....I absolutely LUV these Moebius kits.....They are spectacular.....About the ONLY thing I don't like about the Prostar is the length of the frame....As Clayton has pointed out.....But put a 1" stretch on it, and it looks awesome.....And the instructions are a BIG improvement over the ones that come with the Lonestar.....And that trailer kit is BONKERS !! You're going to love how it looks once completed, be Beware.....Make sure you check the trailer sides....The mounting tabs, in particular......There IS indeed a top and a bottom to them.....I know of one modeler that got this wrong.....Awesome kit, though.....Awesome kit....Can't wait to see what you do with it..... The next one I do will be done up like this bad boy...... -

kilrathy10 replied to kilrathy10's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yeah, Man....I got the quad bikes from a little store called Five Below....They were like $2 each and they were just the right size.....Took them apart and painted them orange.... -

kilrathy10 replied to kilrathy10's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks, Bud.....And that's where I got 'em....Helmut hit the nail right on the head....It was an old Italeri race rig set up that had the traditional Mercedes Actros tractor and a race trailer.....The one bike came with each of them.......I got a SUPER deal on 5 truck/trailer sets....Got them all for $25 EACH !!!! -
