I have worked in the parts business for dealers and aftermarket for over 20 years. And I still shake my head at some of the questions I get ask like why does the rear brakes matter what the front are. I just shake my head and tell them ask the manufacturer of the car. The most fun I have is when someone buys a car that still runs points and when the car runs bad and you ask them have you checked the points and you get the blank stare and the what are points. The real fun starts when you bring out the points and they ask what are those.

The same goes for the auto parts business. All of us older parts guys that started in the mechanical field and moved to the parts field are slowly leaving. I watch all the younger folks hired in fold when confronted with a old car question. Most places don't even use catalogs anymore, they rely on the computer cataloging which isn't accurate all the time. Freaks them out when I grab a catalog and find the part. I try and then teach as much as I can but I often think of what's going to happen when all the people with this knowledge retire. And the new younger generation relies on their computors for everything when the guy with the early car needs info. That is why I am teaching my boys and daughter everything I can while I can still remember it.

What irks me is people from the city who move to the farm country and immediately start complaining about the peoples farm animals who live there already.

That's good to know. I'm thinking of getting one myself.

I only talked to him through ebay email. And that was about the pontiac parts.

Your camaro looks good. Like the stripes. Nice thing about this car is it is unmolested and still has all the original badging. I might build a model of it orange with silver or white stripes to see if I can convince the wife to leave it orange. But I am partial to the emerald green with silver stripes as well.

I would have paid more.

Thanks for the answers. No rush to finish anything now.

King six. I just might consider that. Gotta save money where I can to appease the wife. The only thing she requested in her approval of the project is she picks the color. Emerald green with z/28 stripes in silver. The funny thing is that was one of the color combos I was thinking of. Just like on the model box. Oh and I live near monroe. Washington in a little town called sultan.

Passenger front.

I decided to add a shot of passenger side and rear shot.

Yes the body side moulding is going away. And it is a LT.There are emblems on the front panel and tailight panel. And on on the sail panels.

The wreck is on the drivers quarter panel behind the door and wheel. The passenger quarter has the rust. The passenger side is same as drivers side. I plan to clean it up and get it running so I can drive it while working on it. These cars are getting so hard to find. Even the wife approves of this project.

Thank you. I thought I heard them say they were going to have one this year then go to one every two years after that. But that was last year. And I didn't see any anouncements for this year.

I have bought several kits from matt on ebay with no issues. You are a little more protected on ebay if he doesn't deliver. Now as for the formula kits. I Inquired about availability and he responded with the molds had deteriorated after the last run and he needed to try and find the masters. If not then he wont be able to cast anymore formula kits.

This is my barn find. A 1973 camaro LT. 350 v8. Belonged to my drs. Receptionist she was going to scrap it. This car was only on the road for 14 years and then got wrecked. They then stored it outside, tben in a barn then finally in the shop for the last 15 years. Exposure has taken its toal on the body. It needs quarters and new panels and general restoration. I only paid $250.00 for it. The picture shows it seeing daylight for the first time in years

Castenparts on ebay does a resin conversion for the 76. It includes the hood, front bumper and lights. I ordered one. Good quality and I paid 22.00 plus free shipping. He lists it every now and then.

2010 Mustang ProStock Update 8-19: Finished
azers replied to ScaleDale's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
You should look at resin casting the body when it is done and keep working off the resin body. With all the cut and pasting to the original body your bodywork may show up later in the final product. Besides you could then sell us copies of your bodie to recoup some of your cost. Just a idea. Interesting project so far. Followimg it with interest.
