  1. Wow Krat!!!!! That looks great!!! Everything looks so crisply molded, real rubber tires. Very, very nice!!!!! I would love to see whatever pics or WIP thread you happen to do. Until then I will stay on the lookout. I am in the process of building the Revell Mustang that you mentioned and I am extremely pleased with it so far so if I am enjoying that this GTR will be an absolute must have. Thank you!!
  2. I use the 2% milk consistency on every occasion of airbrushing no matter what type of paint I use. I made a mistake in what I said making you think that I meant the sand like finish started "after " I sprayed, I apologise for the misunderstanding. This surface was actually occurring as I was spraying. What you guys are saying about spray distance sounds exactly right and makes total sense about the paint drying as its hitting the surface. Now that I think about it, I did spray the side view mirrors at about half an inch away and they came out great. The body and the rest of the parts were spray maybe 3-4 inches away. This comes from habit of using rattlecan and regular lacquer/enamel based model paints in my airbrush. I always spray at a distance using multiple light mist passes to prevent runs and sagging. I attempted to do the same with the polish I get what you guys are saying though, with nail polish it has to be sprayed up close leaving a wet finish when using hot thinner. Am I correct in saying this?
  3. Yes I understand test before spray. The body was being used as a test mule that I do not care about. It just doesn't seem right that the paint sprayed flawlessly onto all of the smaller parts but not the body. All parts were sprayed at the same distance as done with all of my previous builds
  4. Sorry for late reply guys!! I forgot to subscribe to my own thread lol. The polish was pearlescent. I found nothing on the bottle stating what type of polish it was ,but I assumed that like most it was a lacquer.
  5. Yup, I tried that just as the written instructions mentioned but it barely made a difference. I think I could have gotten better results with a larger size but then it wouldn't fit the application it was intended for. I wanted to illuminate all of the controls on the dash and guage cluster.
  6. Ah, so there are two versions? I wasn't aware. I would be more than willing to drop $150 on it, but $300 noooo.
  7. I attempted fiber optics on my GT500 and they just weren't bright enough no matter what I used. I went to LED's instead.
  8. I found another kit which I missed on release and did not know existed until today. Does anyone know what this kit usually sells for, is it really worth the asking price? Knowing Fujimi I'm sure the quality is outstanding. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fujimi-Nissan-BNR-GT-R32-VeilSide-Combat-1-12-scale-model-Kit-/380701276758?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=n5ueD7r%252BS%252ByUGPL4Wg8HkgrkYCU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  9. I bought two bottles of nail polish that I really like and decided to spray them yesterday. I followed Dr CRanky's tutorial on youtube before the attempt so I knew what I was getting into beforehand. I diluted one bottle 1:1 with lacquer thinner and sprayed at 25 PSI. As I began to spray everything was going smoothly ,but then I started to get a strange surface on the body. A sandy build up of some sort that now has a sandpaper texture. Any clue as to what went wrong? I was able to lightly wet sand the surface and smooth everything back out,but who's to say that this won't happen again?
  10. Hey guys. I have a really nice purple metallic color I would like to spray but wanted to know what I should lay down color wise underneath on top of the primer. I was thinking silver or black? I also wanted to know if there was a possibility of getting help to write down a list to keep in my shop of what colors to lay under the basic primary colors IE: Reds, Yellows, green, etc . I usually prime in grey or white if that helps at all?
  11. Our HTU is horrible. We have to practically beg him to get things in that modelers would obviously by, like BMF and wetsanding sheets. The same goes for us R/C racers. We run on his track, yet he won't order the type of tire the pretty much everyone prefers to run on the track. We can't support him if he won't carry what we want. I mean, do you want to make money or not?? lol
  12. The same exact kits are on clearance at our location plus a few others, Monogram Lambo Diablo,AMT 71 Charger, AMT 70 1/2 Z28, AMT vette 2010-12
  13. I too like to keep my money going to the LHS's but it's hard when they can't, or refuse to get what you want. You have no choice but to go elsewhere
  14. Even if you have two different coupons you are limited to one per transaction.
  15. I completely forgot to ask. What is the typical drying time for lacquer based clears using one of these machines? Everyone has mentioned drying time for paints but not clear. Thanks
  16. Does the HF dehydrator that you have do adjustable temps?
  17. I got an AMT 71 charger from them yesterday for the same price. I couldn't believe how many kits were on clearance. I thought it was odd that the shelves were pretty bare a day after I had already been there, turns out they moved all of the clearance kits into a center isle and didn't refill the empty spots that they had left. Hopefully that section isn't downsizing and will instead be filled back up with all new kits. I am excited!!
  18. I have seen those there. I like them allot and thought of using them for the same thing but thought that my brushes may be to long to stay upright inside them.
  19. It's very unfortunate that allot of you have them so far away from you or none at all
  20. Is anyone else as addicted to this place as I am? lol. I love this place and I visit it more than I vist all three of my local hobby shops. I find myself stopping in almost twice a week, mostly for paint and clear. My wife loves it too and it's very hard for her to go and not come out with something. Right now they are having a 50% off sale on vintage muscle car items. Mugs ,lamps, advertisement signs, pictures, really cool stuff. I am currently outfitting my gameroom with the stuff. Anyone else here that can't stay out of this place, If so how often do you stop in? OH!!! Also I don't know if any of the stores are doing it but allot of kits are being clearanced out at $10 each.
  21. Yeaaaaah!!! The stuff in the blue can!! I've been using their flat white as primer for years.
  22. Nice find Art!! I would have flipped my lid had I come across a lot like that. I'm a Porschephile at heart. Any updates on this?
  23. The paint finish is just, wow!!
  24. Very nice build and welcome!! I don't know why I continue to blow off building one of these.
