  1. Love it, built one for a friend but still don't have one for myself. When I do I hope It turns out as nice.
  2. I did see one Raptor this week, out of the thousand's of pickups that I saw on the road. It was from out of state. They just aren't that common up here. I do wish the kit well and will get one, but I still question the market and the lack options to build them. i am thankful we are getting new pickups and hope this is a beginning to some other newer offerings.
  3. Very nice. I like the input to make it more factory correct and appreciate that knowledge. I also like how we as modelers make it our own and have fun with it. I like seeing both sides and that is a bonus of this forum. Thanks for the info and keeping it civil. Kudos
  4. When my dad drove one of these, they were washed daily inside and out, but in winter they certainly could and did look the worse for wear. This is a nice worse for wear.
  5. What a bummer it was nice looking paint but thanks for the info on things to look out for. I thank you for sharing as this is a kit I plan to build. Someday- with the rest of the someday.
  6. I still don't get it. All pickups currently on the road are cool looking 4x4s. If a name and decals are what kids want, they can name it anything they want to with wild artwork but the product would still be more broadly accepted and usable to all if it was more common. I own several of the 90s Dodge long bed snap model and it wasn't flashy or obscure but certainly could have been If they were really going for the snap together youth market. If they are going for the youth, wild paint and decals with the box art would make the sell-It did for me as a kid and some of the junk that was actually in the box, well that's a whole other story. I still think they are missing sales to a broader market and I probably will buy one because I like pickups, but I am buying 4 Meng f350s because of the potential and I'm a Dodge guy.
  7. Great job. My dad drove something similar for 25 years after getting out of the dairy business. Obviously he didn't get to far from dairy and ironically had to get up at 3-4 am rather than the 5 to milk the cows. It brings back some good memories of getting to ride with him and going to the plant to offload. Thanks for sharing.
  8. I love pickups and not to take away anything from the effort, but why can it not be a best selling(F150) or more common pickup seen and used everyday? I see hundreds of pickups everyday but have never seen a Raptor other than on tv. If I were trying to sell model kits for a living I would make what people actually own and then make different versions (standard cab, extended cab, crew cab, long bed ,short bed, dually) Am I wrong in my thinking?
  9. Does any company make the best kit? Yes As already mentioned there is no definitive answer-similar to your Ford vs Chevy analogy. The Japanese kits can be excellent but I prefer American vehicles and I am just happy to see any new tooling.
  10. I know the feeling. I went in a couple of days ago for a chalk box. No checkers and the self checkout, which I hate, were all busy with people waiting. I put it back and walked out-was so not in the mood.
  11. The inside measurement is exactly 3 inches.
  12. Thanks guys, I'm new to Photobucket and just figured out how to link photo rather than the link to Photobucket. Thanks for viewing.
  13. Looking good, the paint could almost pass for the added undercoat that dealers upsale and then the lot hands spay on with rattle cans. Unfortunately I did this on my first new vehicle purchase. I drove it back to the dealer a few days after purchase, in a rain storm, and that was the result. Was not happy. But I love the build and thanks for sharing.
  14. Built this for a friend to replicate his 1:1 which he had to sell for college tuition. He displays it proudly. This is one of the first models to get completed after getting back into the hobby. Other than the windshield fit and flash cleanup it went together well and someday I'll have to do one for myself. http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k411/cqcid/stitches008_zps125dcb4b.jpg
  15. Irked at myself. After 25 years of framing homes and businesses, I introduced hand to circular saw today. Received 4 inch laceration on left index finger, 22 stitches but seem to have good nerve response. I guess no foiling this weekend but mabey get some pictures of builds I started when I got back in the hobby (2008) and finally have finished this year. I have learned so much here as well as just my own skill improvement. I almost didn't finish them, but thought they would be a good record of my hobby and progression the second time around.
  16. Gregg , thanks for the info on the clearance lights and if anyone has suggestions to replicate them please post. This looks like a well made kit and the chrome looks nice just to bad it's so delicate. I see myself purchasing several and hope for other models off this platform as well as the other big three. Full disclosure I own a 2004 Dodge Cummins diesel and would love to replicate it, but i am also just happy to see new pickup models -hence purchasing several Fords in the near future. Your buildup is looking very nice- Thank You
  17. That is looking real nice. Does the kit have any optional cab clearance lights?
  18. I also have one one in the to build pile and will be watching and hopefully learnig.
  19. Those are some very nice models and it is a shame most models can't be displayed properly because of lack of space. I would venture to say most of us are in the same prediciment. I hope you can figure out something to do them justice. If you do please share.
  20. Another nice build Rich. It sounds like it's packed well, be sure to update us with your brothers reaction. Now back to the 50s ?
  21. Very nice. I am really starting to like these rocket inspired car designs of the 50s , especially when they are done as nice as this.
  22. My Hobby Lobby had 3 Super Stones on Tuesday. I picked up one and came back Thursday and they were already gone. I'm hoping they have a restock, would like one more. They did have the 2010 Revell Camaro for 15.39 on clearance. These were in the next isle over as they just finished a restock of the model section.
  23. That's a nice family project and it looks they are doing a fantastic job. Thanks for sharing.
  24. I've always liked car-toon art and these are some fine examples. I used to draw some when I was younger but over time it seems I have lost all my artwork so nothing to share.
