  1. get a flea collar any brand...cut it into 6" pieces...you should get 3 pieces out of a collar...put 1 piece into your vacuum bag or cansiter ..store the rest in a ziplock bag....replace it everytime you change your bag or empty the canister...it will kill any fleas you suck up...flea spray the cat...no help w/the mayo ..except maybe make your own....i sometimes do..not hard just takes a little extra time..much cheaper and better for you
  2. i stopped in sally beauty supply and asked about the nail tape.woman looked at me like i had 2 heads, never heard of it.there happen to be some sales rep there and said it was pretty new to the market and that most stores are a couple of years behind the times and amazon was my best bet...i was very quick to point out i wanted to use it for modle cars best pricing is on e bay..amazon had better pricing but they were all being shipped from hong kong or china w/a 2 to 3 week shipping time...i should have my order here by friday. Very interesting material, good lateral thinking to recognize this as something that might be great for our hobby. Next time I'm in the beauty supply store for nail polish (for the models, you know?) I'll see if anything like this is available there.
  3. sort of stumbled on this in amazon. i was searching pin vise and they showed a small dremle like drill used in nail salons .i clicked on it and if you use amazon you know they show other shopping suggestions at the bottom of the listing...nail tape showed up...this is 1 mm colored tape used for womans nails..comes in 10 or 12 colors...was wondering if anyone used it for pin striping?....almost all the listings were from china and i didn't want to wait..so i picked up a set off e bay 22 colors for 4.99 free shipping from the U.S...for $5.00 i thought i'd try it....here is a link to show what it looks like...real curious if this would work for models or did i just waste $5.00 http://www.mynailproducts.com/fostta.html?gclid=CMi9lYqKhbcCFYPd4AodBygAyA
  4. hate to say it..but i feel sooooo much better after reading this thread.....SOOOO much better...it really isn't just me..can i add one : no matter how good you clean your brush...red paint will come out of nowhere and steak into fresh white you just painted
  5. thanks for the tip..can i get the wire at radio shack?
  6. thanks..i know the scale is off...i have been reading what size wire is being used in most builds and will pick some up for the next build.the wires are also a little long i need to make them tighter next time. i was pretty happy i got it glued w/no visible glue showing.
  7. thanks... i noticed my spacing was off as soon as i driled them out.they are bit crooked as well..i had to use a 14 w dewalt to drill them and the bit drifted.i should have tapped the hole with a push pin or something..next time... .i really need to pick up a pin vice. i scrapped an old mouse for the wire(good tip BTW) i used staples to strap the wires down.i'm fairly pleasded with the results but wanted to hear what the group thought ...very encouraging and i appreciate the comments.
  8. hi..nice job so far..question what program did you buy.i'd like to start making my own decals as well..thanks
  9. this is my second build which is a 56 ford pick up.after reading the tutorials on wiring a distibutor cap i just had to try this. i didn't have the supplies on hand to build one so i decided to try and drill out the stock piece.this is my first attempt at doing this .any and all feed back would be greatly appreciated.i'm a big boy and can take critisims .the object is to get better at this..so let me have it
  10. since there is a die cast section on the forum, I guess i can show off a few of my recent restores. matchbox ford galaxy before and after matchbox mecedes 300 SE
  11. i have a fair number of M2 .love the detail and moving parts. i maybe have 30 or 40 of them so far.
  12. thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement.I can't wait to start my next build.another revell i picked up at a flea market for $10.the 56 ford pickup. level 3...yeah i know...maybe bitting off more than i can chew. but i figure as long as i'm enjoying the build and learning from my mistakes it will be fine....can i ask a question here ?....how do you hold small parts in place and keep them from moving until the glue sets?...such as door handles, mirrors, winshield wipers ,etc etc..that has been the most frustrating part ..thanks
  13. Hello, The names Joe.heading into the old fart catagory its been decades since i have build a modle car. I have been collecting and restoring old die cast, mostly matchbox .corgis and toostie toys. I decided i needed a bit of a challange and expand my skill base. I joined the forum about a month ago and have been lurking almost daily. reading every post and watching every tutorial posted. all i can say is WOW!!! i am absolutely blown away at the skill and craftmanships i see here. some of the work is just amazing. how the heck do you do it? i've spent the last 4 weeks completing a Revell 57 Bel Air,and to be quiet honest i think it looks like rainman put it together.the best part of the build was the interior and you can't see it!! can't tell you how many mistakes i made the parts i repainted. the parts i lost.from bubbles in the paint.windows falling out. glue on the window.glue smear on the finish paint. and how the heck do you attach the little parts without having them either stuck to your fingers or tweezers!!! AAAAAHHHHH!! the sideview mirror fell off twice and you now have to hang out the car window to see it...anyways here it is in all its imperfect glory....I WILL GET BETTER.
