  2. very nice.... i'll have to try the plumbers tape.thanks for the tip
  3. I posted a few photos of my last build and received a couple of comments on the wiring of the engine., it was positive criticism and advice. i started a new thread asking advice on how to properly wire and engine and what other builders used for wire and i received more than a few responses .each and every response gave me new insight on how to properly wire and what gauge wire to use. somewhere they are out there but i can't seem to locate my threads...anyways i just wanted to pass on a few photos of my next build and show off the engine. just to remind you of what my last engine looked like 62 impala.. scale of the wire is off and the wire look like a big spider sitting on top and here is my latest build. monogram Ford T rod it's not perfect and after taking closeups on the engine i see i need to move the wires a bit more , but in my eyes i see a vast improvement on this engine as compared to my last build.i found the proper gauge wire. i did a google search on how the wires should look and where to place them from photos of 1:1 engines. and i base coated the engine in red before painting it chevy engine red. fixing many of the mistakes i made with my last build. and its because of the feedback i received form this group and i wanted to thank each one of you for taking the time to do so...i have recently seen a few threads from new comers complaining about feedback ..lack of feedback or starting thread never to respond to any comments left by others..i want it to be known that there those of us new comers who more than appreciate the advice, comments and criticisms and that it is being taken seriously and making better modelers out of us...at least its true in my case and it is very much appreciated
  4. wow..outstanding!!!
  5. i'm sitting here laughing.....same thing happened to me...i was doing the weekly grocery shopping and picked up one of those battery operated string wands you buy for your kids to mix up their drink mixes...cheap plastic thing..i modified it a bit.. cut it down ,drilled a hole in the shaft to fit in a bent paper clip...real mad scientist !!! looked great figured it would be perfect to mix paint...mix paint.. remove paper clip add another mix more paint...WELLLLL ..you can imagine what happened ....first paint mixed great...second...flat black ..not so much....the clip wasn't seated right and somehow ended up spraying paint everywhere....still have some on the keyboard ...next

  8. this is very impressive....wish i could get a rust finish close to this...very nice
  9. and i thought that only happened to me.... i take my time on each and every build but for some reason towards the end of the build i either rush a step and make a huge mistake or get a bit bored with the build and push it to the end... this after taking over 2 months to get a build to the final few steps.... so happy to know its not just me... ruined windshield...snapped frames trying to mount tires.... doorhandles falling off and leaving trails of glue down a really nice paint finish..sigh ...on and on and on.

great finish....i collect corgi toys from the sixties and one of them happen to be kojaks cutlass..complete with kojak and his partner
  16. i appreciate these finishes as much as a show finish both take skill and an artist eye to achieve a realistic effect seen on 1:1 cars.I am in complete awe when i look at some of the builds here and you have to sit there and wonder it is a 1:1 or a kit . it truly is art imitating life .
