Darn right, bet he'll never do that again! There's two on the bay right now, both still factory sealed. One for $60, the other for $86.39 When you convert the currency, what I paid for this comes out to less than $50 US. And no paypal fees, shipping charges or even time spent waiting for it to arrive. Gotta luv that Brad!

Another trip to the lhs, second time this week and - go figure! - I came home with two more kits. The Pepsi truck wasn't there on Monday, but it was there today, and I've wanted one for awhile. Not sure why, I have yet to even tackle a pickup truck, though I'd like to think the Moebius ' 71 Ranger will take care of that dilemma. The Jeep kit was part of a private collection that the owner of the lhs purchased several months ago. This one has been sitting behind the front counter for more than two months, tagged "hold for Brad". Well, sorry Brad but since it appears you didn't remember to come get your kit, it's mine!(insert eveil laughter here).

Well, a search shows he has an active Facebook account. Lots of pictures on there of model planes, as well as armour. Looks like he may have simply switched gears. But I agree with everybody else, that's probably the nicest turbine build I've ever seen.

That's gorgeous! My late aunt had a red ' 66, and I've always liked those cars. Great work!

' 56 Chrysler 300B In The Home Stretch!
smellyfatdude replied to smellyfatdude's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yes, I did foil the lettering on the rear quarters and the front prior to laying the paint on, then cleaned them off with enamel thinner. I wish it was really as exquisite as it appears, but of course even a good camera (which mine isn't) can hide the flaws. Got the rest of the engine assembled, this morning. Again, didn't bother with the decals. It's been more than two years since I built the ' 55, and I'd forgotten just how nicely detailed these engines in the Moebius kits are. Somehow, I managed out of two (yes, two!) kits to lose both upper radiator hoses, so I'll have to swipe something out of my parts stash. Today will be the day to finish the interior. Plus, the post office tried to deliver my resin ' 61 Starliner yesterday while I was out. So, I have to run down to the local sub post office to pick it up, then dig through my pile of kits to try and find that AMT ' 60 Starliner chassis. I have this dreadful feeling it's at the back of the closet. -
I've had this painted for awhile, and since I built the ' 55 300 with a non-stock paint job, I decided I'd do this build in one of Chrysler's "holy trinity" of color selections for that year. Krylon Dual satin ivory seemed a pretty good match, so I sprayed the body with several coats and added some Rustoleum clear. I did all the foil yesterday, and now I'm just blazing away on the rest. I could have sworn I had about three jars of Model Master flat interior tan that I'd bought when I did the ' 55, yet I could find none of them. So, I used Testors flat light tan in the square bottle. Might just be a wee shade darker than the factory color, but I think it's close. I'm going to leave off all of the underhood decals, to give it more of an appearance of a restored car, as opposed to factory fresh. Got the week off, so I'm hoping I can get a good portion of it finished.

I purchased this y'day, a Modelhaus ' 61 Starliner kit with open hood. I'm assumimg I can use the chassis and powertrain from AMT's ' 60 Starliner kit. No matter, I'll find something. The only other thing I can tell you is . . . it's gonna be wearing some torque thrusts.

Here's mine, box stock except for hand painted whitewalls.

Yes, that is a nice combination. Or, I might just swipe peekay's color scheme. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92215&hl=

Yup, same with this one. Indoors I'm tempted to call it "cappuccino" colored. But again, not red is all I cared. There were so many nice factory colors that year, this is going to be a tough choice.

This finally arrived today, still sealed in the shrink wrap. Once I got it open, I was quite happy to discover that it's molded in white, not red plastic.

Thanks for the kind words! For those asking, the color is Duplicolor Medium Maui Blue. I used it for the interior as well, along with two water based acrylics.
-
And a couple of the finished interior. The dash decals are from the Lindberg ' 64 Dodge kit.

This is build #4 of this year for me, and it's nice to have another one done. It's not perfect, but I'm pleased how it turned out. I'm not sure what I'll work on next, but it's unlikely I'll run out of kits, anytime soon.
-
Glad to see you made it here. I think you'll enjoy your stay.
-
Here's the body foiled, and the wheels prettied up. I got the paint on the seats, and some foil on the dash. Finishing the interior will be next.
-
Nice coupe! I'm just wondering why the dude in brown looks like Denis Leary, with a green face.

This is the Jo-han Ramchargers kit, but without the dual scoop manifold or the drag headers. I'm using the kit wheels and tires, but I might slip the dog dish caps from the Lindberg ' 64 kit on those wheels. Not sure, yet. I was able to fit the Lindberg front bumper, with a little bit of minor cutting. The paint is Duplicolor medium maui blue, inside and out, but I'm doing a tri-tone interior. Fun kit!

Another vintage model turned masterpiece! Say, did you ever finish that ' 62 Galaxie vert?
-
I've seen a lot of builds of this kit, probably more than I could ever count. This is, without question, the nicest one I've laid eyes on. Period!

Absolutely gorgeous!
