  1. That's neat. Did not see that engine coming. My grand father had one of these in the early 70's when I was a young'un, if I remember right the center section of the back window was electric and came down. Pretty cool. Laz

  3. Man that green paint looks great. Laz
  4. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT That cut off wheel and center brace in the interior is great detail. Just wondering if the seats could be separated top from bottom and then cut down the bottom of the top and put back together, to get the set height right. maybe lay a seat belt across the seam afterwards. Just a thought. Laz
  5. Man I would not want to see that one coming up behind me on a track. looks like he could just drive right under you to pass. Cool build, I like the original use of the tin. gives a real feel.
  6. Hay b_lever1 I was looking at the wanted section and saw yours, looks like some one is asking if you got those wheels on the 22end, didn't look like you got the post. Laz
  7. WHINE TIME. This here is a update and some whining (sorry) about the kit AKA the "Kiss van". Well I finally got started this week end. Had some issues with missing parts, this kit was open when I got it and some of the smaller parts are missing, I have been trying to build it box stock, but I think that is out now. One of the frame rails was missing and one of them came short of holding THE MYSTERIOUS HATCH in the middle of the floor, (why would they do that, just a random 1x2inch hole in the floor) I had to make new ones out of styrene, came out pretty good once painted you should not be able to tell the deference. Also I missing one of the rear shocks, I put a beg out in the wanted section. If I can get that I think I can make it all look box stock, if not it look good setting on my shelf. As for the poor made kit, AMT did not put mounting holes for the front shocks to the frame and glossed over that in the directions. The tie rod was just supposed to glue to the top of the king pin’s, I drilled those and it finally lined up, So I took that opportunity to cut the wheels to the left to give it a better look like in the magazines instead of straight on. Mold marks every where. And that hatch thing with the cross members that didn't hold it as intended. Well I will quit my whining now (again sorry) I think when I am done with this I will build another one the way I think the kit should of been built in Black with the Cragers and the side pipes it came with( who doesn't use side pipes in the 70"s), all box stock just better choices of how to use the parts it came with. Laz UPDATE Thanks to gray07 I now have the shock on the way big thanks Darrin
  8. Hay bob L. found this page while looking for kiss van pics. Has some interior shots of the coke van. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-denimmachine-maybe-better-known-as.html Laz
  9. A friend of mine found one in Indy about 10 years ago in a junk yard. by the next week we had decided to try to get it and redo it and went to buy it but it had already been sold. Dop!!! Laz
  10. Good one. I could not find the egg kit this time of year any where on the net that Jantrix suggested and I think that would be the easiest way. Having said that I did find the paint swirl method on line I think they used on the box art. I am going to try this on some old body's and see what happens. here is just one link to one of the paint swirl sites and a pic of one near the colors I need. this is going to take some time to get close. I don't think you could ever be exact, since each one flows differently. http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=47163
  11. That came out great. nice job. Laz
  12. That looks great, Did I understand realgone58 right it comes with the 4&6. I love the off beat cars, first time I saw one I said what idiot would put a 4 cylinder in a nova, well I guess GM was the idiot. I guess we all have bad days. Mind you I am a Chevy guy and some times that's hard to swallow, aaa, GM's part not me being a Chevy man....You know what I men. Laz
  13. Love the stance, and that big stripe across the back, very original. good job tom. Laz
  14. Thanks Jantrix I had a feeling that's what they did. now I just have to find egg coloring kit this time of year. Did you dip it down into it or come up from the bottom. Laz
  15. thanks for the picks love that first one with the wood bed. Laz
  16. Looks good, with the right back ground it might just look real. laz
  17. I don't know about the front end but the back would hook up like glue, and less likely to flip over on take off. Fun build. Laz
  18. Awesome van W-409, As for b_lever1 question, I think the van's of the 70's had all the style, and that includes vans from earlier done in the 70's style. Is there to be a dead line on this, maybe by the end of the year or something. I would suggest to b_lever1 when you get the guide lines all together, to update your first post so newbies to the post get it right away. I just watch "supper van" on you tube last month, cheese, but lots of great vans and stuff. I plane to start mine Mon. when the company leaves. Just my two cents worth, about what it's worth. Laz
  19. Thanks for the info, I will be painting this one next week so if by chance you get yours painted I would love to see it. Laz
  20. Did this one back in April. A special thanks to Dwayne for hooking me up with parts that were missing so I could make it almost box stock. And there was another member that pointed me into the right direction the plans but I forgot his name thanks any way. I say almost because it came with one 3 types of sirens that (in my openon) did not look good together, so on Dwayne suggestion I found a 2nd big siren off a cop out on ebay, that had to be modified just a little so they match, then put some post on both so they would fit in the existing wholes. I moved the hose, prayer, thinging to the back along with the gauge panel and moved the later up. It made more since to me. The back windows didn't come close to fitting so I justified leaving them out with the thought that all that heat and fumes had to go some where. I dropped the front a scale 3 inch's into the weeds only to find out that was not conceders box stock, whoops. And lastly put a 9 where there was nothing but a whole up front.
  21. Funny you should ask. I just got my kiss van to build. I'm in. I put this paint question up elsewhere maybe some others can help here. Well I finally got my kiss van together "TO BUILD"!!! box stock. I did this kit as a kid and painted it red, if I remember right it was not that great of a color combo so I blew it up. It seems most of these kits are sitting in the boxes on shelves and the ones to buy are around $100 bucks. I lucked out and got the van in its original form the Xtasy van kit for $20 delivered and ordered some after market decals from Australia for $15 delivered. and "tada" kiss van to build $35. The Xtasy van only came out one year to my knowledge then they slapped new Kiss decals on it and a cool box and the rest is KISShistory . I would love to smack the guy that did that paint job for the box art. It is next to imposable to reproduce, I believe it is accomplished by painting the van a base color and after that dries you get a big pan of water and put oil based paint on top of the water then dip it thru the pattern to get that psychedelic paint, I have seen this done with eggs and papers for books. any way its way out of my league. I am thinking of going with a base coat of bright pink and then extra fine pink glitter to simulate metal fleck pink from the 70's. don't know if this will work or not will have to practice on old bodies.
  22. Sharp car. well done. laz
