  1. Would love to add the proper GS Stage 1 fender badges, the GS by Buick trunk badge, and the GS grille. All I've seen is a photo etched set but am unsure how to attach the metal to styrene and not sure as a novice I should be attempting it? Thoughts, and suggestions are welcome. Thanks
  2. One other thing. If I go the non GSX route the standard GS emblems will have to be used. How does one utilize photo etched items? I found a GS set online.
  3. Thanks. Ever since I saw a GS back in the 1970's I was hooked. Yes the other's in the family: Chevelle SS, Olds 442, and Pontiac GTO were awesome in their own rite. However there was something about the GS. Subdued, understated, refined, but hiding something powerful under the hood. I refer to the GS as the "Gentleman's Musclecar".
  4. Not that SS454 LS6 is a bad thing. I'm just more of a Stage 1 fan.
  5. Thank you. That is a beautiful GS. But sadly not an original color that I can locate. The color charts show nothing close. There is a deeper shade of blue listed. I thought about dark green but not sure which shade to go with. Red to me is too much SS454 LS6. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again for the positive commentary.
  6. Okay I just ordered the Monogram GSX from Hobbylinc. Now it's just the waiting time for the kit. Will post my progress on the site as I go along. Will probably rely on the experience of all on the forums. Probably will go with a royal blue exterior with a black interior on this first attempt. Was thinking long and hard about either the yellow or white GSX exterior but maybe some other time. Thanks again for all the comments, direction, and encouragement. In the immortal words of Flounder from Animal House "This is gonna be great"!
  7. This will be my inspiration for the GS/GSX
  8. Charlie thanks for the tips. I will look to follow what you have written above.
  9. Oh okay thanks. I think I'll leave that up to the experienced modelers in the group.
  10. Harry how do they get the seams in the roof to look so lifelike?
  11. Ace thanks. Based on what you've posted I will choose the GSX. As I get better I may try my hand at the Road Runner. I will say I am in complete awe of what is being done by the forum members. Unfortunately my finished product may pale in comparison when done but what the heck I'm gonna give it my best shot. Thanks JerseeJerry55
  12. Harry, Thanks. So I fully grasp what you're saying. I would paint the body of the car first. Then mask and paint the "vinyl roof"? Also how far of a distance 12 to 15 inches? Thanks again. JerseeJerry55
  13. Thanks. Quick question not really related but here goes. How do you do a vinyl roof that looks realistic? I've seen some really nice ones on the forum. Thanks again for the reply.
  14. Hi. I am going to start building model cars again and I am looking at two different cars for my 1st project in over 30 years. The Monogram 1970 Buick GSX and the AMT 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner. Quite simply back in the days of my teens and early 20's it was more or less the subject choice rather than the brand for me and the 2 cars I have outlined are probably my 2 favorite muscle cars of all time. So my questions are: Is either easier to assemble? What issues are there on assembly? Example uncooperative decals, difficulty with fit, etc.Which brand generally is the better?Sorry for the basic questions but since not having done this since the mid 1980's I've probably forgotten more than I remember. Thanks. JerseeJerry55
  15. To all, Hello. I am in the midst of deciding on a few things for my build of the AMT IH 4300 reissue. I am most likely going to build a day cab version of this tractor so here are my questions: Most freight company trucks I have seen on the internet featured single stack tractors. That being said if I base my model off of a freight company tractor how easy is it to cut down the tubing to make it a single stack? I have chosen a Testors Royal Blue paint fpr the cab. Is anyone aware of which trucking companies featured their tractors in a Royal Blue? How easy is it to create your own decals? If anyone can help it would be most appreciated. Thank you.
