Mark Thanks can I still sand those edges down with a sanding stick? Also it appears I have some hazing in spots as you can see in the below pictures. What would you suggest I do to get rid of those ? Thanks. Jerry

Hey all, Now that I've attempted to paint 3 models all with issues. I'm on my 4th the Revell 1970 Boss 429. I chose Model Master Ford Grabber Green. I think I've done the best job of the 4 thus far. Thanks for looking and as always welcome any commentary, Jerry

Tamiya Bright Orange out Tamiya British Racing Green in. Will strip the paint tonight. Then respray primer then paint her. I'm bummed because I really liked the Orange so much I was gonna name the car the Ulysses S. Figured since the General Lee has been used and probably millions of scale examples have been constructed. Why not make the Northerner's version.

Appreciate the endorsements but have already succeeded in screwing up the paint. The primer went on fine but the Tamiya TS-31 Bright Orange lacquer was uncooperative or should I say the dummy who sprayed it enabled said uncooperativness. Let's just call as I see it. I suck at painting. Too far the lacquer dried before it hit the model. Too close drips, runs, gloms. I guess I should have listened to Johnny Bench back in day and used Krylon. No drips. No runs. No errors. Jerry

I will try that suggestion as I pardon the expression effed up the Orange paint on my 1969 440 Super Bee. Got runs drips gloms of Tamiya TS31 Bright Orange on the car. Have sanded some off this morning but I believe I need to strip her. I'd like to paint her in that orange but am hesitant. The only thing I can think of is I was too close??? Whereas with my 70 GSX I was too far. I suppose lacquer is a finicky sort??? Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks. Jerry

Love the Coronet's/Belvederes and the subsequent RTs, Super Bees, Runners, and GTXs. Actually like most all 1964-74 muscle cars. I wish I had the $$$ to afford a real one. But since I dont I will have to settle for ones one twenty fifth the size of the actual ones.

Back to square one. Primed and ready for reshooting. My son Justin wants her in purple. Any purple suggestions?

Next to the 455 Stage 1, the 440 Six Pack is my favorite engine.

This arrived today from eBay. Can't wait to not screw this one up. No vinyl top for her. Thanks for looking. Jerry

Bill quick question just sprayed the car with the EO. When you clean it under running water does it leave a residue that I have to clean using soapy water on like when I started the project? Jerry

Bill Got it. Thanks wish me luck Jerry

Good morning. I used Duplicolor Sandable primer. If I go the Easy Off route how do I do it. If you could provide the steps I'd surely appreciate it. Thanks. Jerry

Thanks if I were to strip her down I assume the Simple Green method is what I'd use? However two questions (see concerns) are: 1) If I were to use Simple Green would the automotive primer I used be an issue? 2) If i can use SG does it compromise/weaken the plastic? Thanks Jerry

If I wanted to go back to a hardtop and ditch the vinyl roof can I sand her roof down and just reshoot her roof and areas that I made vinyl or just leave it as is ? Just let me know when you have the chance. Thanks. Jerry

As the new guy first off thank you to all who have looked at my posts, given me helpful suggestions and guidance, and have made me feel welcomed. That being said I am about to not break any ground here as I am sure this has been done before. I would like to propose a model building contest. I think 3 levels: Novice, Intermediate, and master builders categories. The subject should be up to the individual with a range given such as: American Cars 1954-1970, or Drag Cars 1960-1974, etc. We would have let's say a month or so to complete the model and it could include something you just started working on, or just something you want to build specific to the contest. Not sure if a prize can be awarded. In my mind it's more how I stack up against my peer group more than anything else. Thanks for looking and I welcome any suggestions, commentary, laughing at the new guy or whatever else. Jerry

So here is the body after final roof touch ups. I think not so bad for my first time attempting this style of roof. I think when I attempt my next one I will have a better grasp how to properly tape the roof so it appears more uniform. I am generally my own toughest critic. Thanks for looking.

Thanks. I'm thinking Bare Metal Foil for the bottom of the vinyl but never used it. Do they make it that thin? Is it hard to use?

Think it came out okay for my 1st attempt at a vinyl top. Needs to be touched up but otherwise I gues I'm okay with it.

If I hit the lottery
JerseeJerry55 replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You are correct. Forgot I posted that. Thank you for pointing that out. -
Good day all Was thinking about this today. If I hit the lottery (50 mil plus) how would I spend it. After paying my sons college loans, fixing some things around the house, giving some to family and friends, take a vacation, and put some away for a rainy day. I now turn to the bucket list of cars. In particular order I'd look to purchase one of the following cars: 1970-72 Buick GS 1968-1971 Camaro (Z28, RS, or SS) 1968-68 Super Bee, GTX, Roadrunner 383 or 440 1970 Trans Am 1970-72 Plymouth Cuda (340, 440, Hemi or AAR doesn't matter) 1967-70 Mustang (GT, Mach 1, Boss 302 or 429) 1970 Plymouth Superbird 1968-72 Chevelle SS 396 or 454 1968-71 Mercury Cyclone or Cyclone Spoiler 1970 Ford Torino GT or Cobra 1969-70 Mercury Cougar (Eliminator is preferred) 1968-72 Olds 442 or Hurst Olds 1963-71 Corvette 1966-74 Chevy Nova SS 1970-71 Plymouth Duster or 1971 Dodge Demon Finally last one 1959 Impala 2 door. Soft spot here as my Mom (God rest her soul) had an original. However I'd have to win the lottery first. I can dream can't I ?

My GS project is coming along nicely. Next up is my 1969 Camaro SS I am building for my 16 year old. Washed the parts and shot the primer. Second car model in progress in 30 years so I will attempt to do a black vinyl roof. Other members such as Harry P and Ace have given some direction on how to attempt it so here I go. Hope I can do it.
