  1. I remember this car, I was working for Speedmasters Racing Engines in Van Nuys ( across the street from the GM assembly plant on Van Nuys Blvd ). back in the mid 60's. We also had a Top Fuel Dragster & a Jr fuel car same vintage as the Pink cars. fact: Ed Pink moved into the Speedmasters building after they went bust in 1969, I talked to Ed's wife last year at the shop, it still looks like it did when I worked their 50 years ago... both of these cars are on my build list so I will be watching. thanks John

  15. Just a quick question. I see a lot of reference to using superglue for model cars. Is superglue better than model glue? Are you guys using regular superglue or special type of superglue. Thanks
  16. saw this car race Stone Woods & Cook at Lions Drag Strip in the 60's... remember everyone was saying the the SWC car was cheating because it always won, something about having something hidden in the hood that shot some kind of ? into the Hilborn butterflys..those were the days, all heads up racing, no shoe polish.... good luck. John

  18. I just finished painting a 64 Dodge 330. I have two good wet coats of black and was wondering if I should clearcoat the car. Also wanted to know if I should do the chrome window treatment now and clearcoat after. Thanks in advance, John
  19. Jason your Cuda looks great so far. I'm just getting back into building model cars after 50+ year's absence and following your built and checking out the photos I learn something every time you and others post. I am currently building in 1964 Dodge 330 sedan with the 426 Max wedge motor. I started out by painting the body black and then I also used the wet coat clear coat. I also had a problem with this clear coat paint when I put down the first mist coat a large blast of clear came out of the can causing runs and drips all over the side. I tried for a few days to sand it all off but it was too difficult getting into the drip rail moldings and window channels. I ended up buying another Max wedge kit and I am now in the process of applying a different wet coat. I am also a big-time NHRA drag racing fan and I just recently retired racing my Super Stock car. Keep the post coming. John
  20. I haven't really built a model cars since the early 50s when I was a kid. I had it in my mind for the past 10 years to once again build model cars and I had purchased a few model kits along the way. I wanted to build cars that I had owned in the past and cars that I had admired that were really cool. I've been fortunate enough to have had a lot of really cool cars in my lifetime and building models of these cars I feel will be a way of connecting with my past. A few weeks ago I started building a 1964 Dodge 330 sedan with the 426 wedge motor. Although I had built quite a few cars when I was a kid I was still a little rusty on painting. So like anything else I looked online to get some tips on painting model cars. I did see a lot of valuable information and YouTube videos and then I ran across this website which really blew my mind. The day I found the website I had looked on the form under on the workbench and saw a thread by a guy that was building his own hemi motor out of blocks of aluminum. I could not believe the detail that he was putting into this model. It was definitely beyond amazing. After following his thread I started reading some of the other posts and I was equally impressed by the majority of the people sharing their building experiences on the site. I look forward to learning how to build more realistic models from what I see and read on this form. Thank you all for sharing. Sincerely, John
