    Are we talking plastic or metal? For plastic I use Easy Off oven cleaner, it has worked on everything I have thrown at it, for metal media blasting is the only way to go. Hope this helps!!

    Welcome to the forum Chris, you have come to the right place for all things modeling, lots of top notch builders here, most are willing to give advice, as far as your first build you gotta make the call on that one, but I agree with most of the other replys you got just go to your local hobby shop and pick up whatever you like and go with it, hope this helps.
