1/16 Scale Peterbilt 359 Large Car
Newbs99 replied to Kenny B's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I can't even control my excitement. It is outstanding....so much custom work... -Newbs99 -
Hey Guys, This is my first post on the truck side of the forum as I have mainly stuck to cars. Anyway, my first 18 Wheeler build (before a truck) will be this original Roadrunner trailer by AMT. The box is in rough shape, but it's all there. I got it at ModelCon and for the price that I got the stuff, it was basically thrown in. Anyway... Now, since someone beat me to it with some red paint and a brush, I'll have to get rid of that before I can proceed. Anyway, expect more soon, -Newbs99

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
Newbs99 replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hey Guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew the easiest and/or fastest way to remove old brushed on paint. Anything will help as I am clueless when it comes to this. Here is my situation... Thanks, -Newbs99 -
Matt, What colors are you leaning towards for the finished product? Looks cool so far, -Newbs99

I like where this is heading. And are you gonna reprint the grill chrome or the body color. Thanks, -Newbs99 Also, is there any chrome paint that anyone greatly backs up and trusts. I've run into the problem of the white spots being left behind on the chrome parts once they've been taken off of the tree. Any help appreciated. -
Thanks Slusher, And Yeah Jtherald420, it was. There were barely any model CARS other than the man I got my stuff from. Nothing compared to last year. See y'all later, -Newbs99 Also, the pictures of the car on the glass was after the show and all of those pieces next to it had fallen off in the box on the way home. ( The door handles, exhaust pipe, right rear ?brace?)

Well, I guess that one man's junk is another man's treasure. I love rough looking projects because it keeps the standard set low enough so that when you finish it, it will even look better than it normally would. Anyway, I asked him to sell the trailer when I found it under the table and if you look at it one way, he kind of threw it in there in the end. And your buddy must like that rd paint. On another note, you should see it soon. Thanks -Newbs99 And I guess getting there sooo late made the time fly by because we walked out at about 6:40 like you said. I thought it would be wrapped up at 4:00.

Jrherald420 I was there around 3 Saturday, but I talked them into judging it even though I was late. I also won silver. Sorry I didn't post any more 'build' pictures and posts, but I was clenched on time. Anyway, here's what I picked up while I was there. A MiniCraft Corsair An Original AMT Pearless Logging Trailer ( I know it looks rough, but everything is there and I'd like to know what that box has seen ) And a Monogram 31 Rolls-Royce and 30 Ford Coupe ( Amazing ) And I stole it all for $30. Anyway, expect to see something new soon. -Newbs99

Alright, so I'd been working day and night since that last post to make it to ModelCon. I finished it up Yesterday afternoon and it was taken to the show. Anyway, I ended up winning silver for my age range. Here are a few pictures while it was still being built and how it looks today. The trim around the outside was painted with a toothpick which didn't do well to compliment it. The last couple pictures are of how the judges saw it. Anyway thanks for tagging along, -Newbs99

Well, however the paint goes, I want it to have a vinyl top. This is my progress so far to complete this ambition. The edges are rough, but I'll fix them later after the orange lacquer.anyway... After MANY coats, I finally got what I wanted. capturedvideo.MOV I'll post more soon, -Newbs99

Alright, so I haven't come far since my first post over this build. Here is my progress. I'm painting the motor as the stock box art picture. With this 57 cent miracle At least I've gotten the little stand built:) It holds the other race motor that this kit came with. Anyway, Expect more soon. -Newbs99

I havn't even thought about the interior yet John. And jrherald420, I am planning on using a trick of the roof that I'm almost certain that I found on this forum. It is where you spray spray adhesive on the roof( make sure to block off the rest of the body) and give it several coats. Then, apply your flat black (or gloss) over the adhesive. This will give you the look and feel of a scale vinyl roof. Anyway, I'm about to pos more. -Newbs99

Alright, so this is gonna be my next build...a revel charger. I'm going to paint it Testors Fiery Orange and havn't decided yet if I'm going to make the roof vinyl or just leave it the orange. Anyway, I'll keep updated. -Newbs99

Thanks Slusher and those wheels came in the box as the uprades over the stock ones, so that's even better because I didn't have to pay more for Pegasus. -Newbs99

Thanks Midnightprowler -Newbs99

Hey guys, So since all I've done lately is take pictures and work, I'm going to just throw all of my pictures on here up till the end of the build. Thanks and expect more projects soon. And yes, midnightprowler, I did end up clearing the body after I had had it on the chassis to somewhat ensure that the decals would remain for now. Without further to do...the most pictures you've ever seen together...my build.. The box will be its final resting place and I'll post one last picture of it wrapped tonight. Anyway, this is the end of this build. Thanks for tagging along;) -Newbs99

I thought the same thing Dragfreak, but I then realize that it sticks up under the dash away form the seat. So I turned it back toward the seat. Anyway, expect more soon. -Newbs99
-
So, I've gotten most of the interior completed along with finishing the chassis. Here is where I am... What really got me was how much the interior door panels lean in to fit with the dash and rear seat. Anyway, I should wrap it up today. -Newbs99

One word...amazing -Newbs99

My description image is of an xmod hummer, the mini z's cheaper cousin. Michael, have you ever considered of putting an old truck body on a mini z overland or xmod truck? Anyway, I can't wait to see the finished product. -Newbs99
