Definitely a contender for "World's Most Ridiculous Custom!" An interesting and well-done build, though, as your projects always are.

Beautiful work!

Nice! Can't wait to get this kit.

Beautiful work!

Congrats on the acquisition. "Bad Dream" has got to be THE most ironically appropriate name for a kit, ever! I built that kit from an earlier issue 35 years ago and it was indeed a bad dream!

Super clean build with lots of detail! Outstanding workmanship throughout.

Looks like a prolific year!

Nice work. Has a very authentic look.

Nice job on a horrible kit! The Airfix is by far the most accurate DB-5 but is getting expensive in unbuilt form. Aurora's Bond car has always come off as a quicky curbside bastardization to a DB-5 of their DB-4.

Touchy, Touchy Terms

"Then" where what's meant is "Than" "Manufactures" when what's meant is "Manufacturers" Really irritating. -
Touchy, Touchy Terms

"Two-door Post" irritates me. It's a freakin' SEDAN! Even more annoying... "Two-door No-Post," which is, of course, a HARDTOP! -
Thanks, guys! Hope to get at least three done in 2013!

Two IS more than zero!

Informed sources say one will be a '58 Edsel Ranger two-door sedan with stick shift and/or a 1961 Vauxhall Victor estate wagon!

I build the Fiat when I was a kid. I loved it. I'm pretty sure it uses the same chassis as the "G200" bubble top "Car of Tomorrow." Kind of doubt many Fiat altered drag cars had four wheel independent suspension!

Revell '57 Chevy Convertible.
John Goschke replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Theoretically they should be able to use the boot and up-top that's in the '55 BelAir convertible kit for the '57. But I really, really hope they don't make the windshield frame a separate plated piece. As can be seen on the '55 kit and the '59 Impala and Cadillac convertible kits, they never fit properly and always look out-of-scale. They should mold the frame with body just like the old AMT kits, and let us foil it. Kind of doubt they will though, unfortunately. -
Nice! Has a sort of mid '50s look to it!

Thanks for the comments, guys! This was a fun project! To answer Steve's question... The model actually came apart fairly easily since the original builder, for the most part, hadn't observed the rule about scraping plating and paint from the parts before cementing. In a couple areas I did have to score the joints a bit before carefully prying them apart.

Beautiful, top-notch work as always, Sean! Unique subjects and interesting variety, as well.

Late this summer I picked up this old '34 Ford pickup off ebay 'cause I thought the old paint looked cool and I was the only bidder at $9.99! It's an original issue of the kit, molded in red plastic. The paint appeared to be Testor's Burgundy Purple Metallic applied ages ago. When I got the model, even though the paint was a bit rougher than I expected, I still decided to disassemble the model, clean it up (smelled like an ash tray full of Lucky Strike butts!), polish the old paint and rebuilt it using some new-old parts from the stash. Before the rebuild. Note the spare tire cover is a continental kit piece from an unknown kit. Revell U.S. Royal Master tires on custom Barris "flying saucer" wheelcovers from the kit. '32 Ford bumpers front and rear... After, rebuild with polished-out original paint... Custom taillights from an original issue kit, BMF on all the bed cover snaps. Wheels and tires from an old-tool Ala Kart. Covered the face of the old spare cover with some sheet styrene, smoothed it out and added some stretched sprue around the outside to represent piping before spraying with Tamiya Racing White and Dullcoat to make it look like a vinyl cover... '49 Ford steering wheel. Dash and wheel centers painted with NOS Testors Burgundy Purple Metallic... Chassis before. Brush-painted flat red. Underside of fenders brush-painted white... After. New chassis, original fenders. Wheelbase adjusted, moving front axle forward, rear axle back. Scratch exhaust system from aluminum ground wire. Tamiya gloss aluminum frame, Alclad suspension. Engine, before with oxidized plating revealing red plastic. Original worn headlight rims in painted buckets... After. Engine painted Tamiya Lavendar with new valve covers. Headlight assembly replaced, with bracket, buckets and horn in Alclad, plus new radiator cap and emblem...

Nice photography, particularly the outdoor shots!

My build of AMT's '60s vintage, Trophy Series '57 with Lancer caps from a 1960 AMT 3 in 1 annual kit. Love this old kit in spite of its flaws and inaccuracies! Here it is with some Photoshop work to correct some of the inaccuracies and add some Sam Hollingsworth Nomad-style flames and panel outlines....

Love this build! Makes me want to drag out the Aurora 1/16 Mercer Raceabout kit that's in my stash!
