  1. Well done!
  2. Cool and different! Takes a real modeler to tackle an R&R! Nice job.
  3. No need to wait! It is done.... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71580
  4. I can't think of any field of human endeavor where all of it is "awesome." Can't expect model cars to be any different. All the modern technology aside, in the end each model is a work of sculpture. Some sculptors are more talented and have a better eye than others. Some manufacturers may not be able to afford the best talent or may not want to invest the time and money for the number of revisions it would take to get a kit close to perfect (or acceptable, in some cases) before release. Those manufacturers can almost always count on the consumers who are willing to pay a low price for a mediocre product, rather than spend more for an excellent one.
  5. Nice builds! I really like the Impala and the Fleetline!
  6. Thanks again, guys, for all the comments. Austin, the candy red is actually Tamiya Mica Red over Tamiya Silver Leaf. The silver gives it additional depth, as does the Tamiya Clear.
  7. Beautiful model and really interesting subject! FWIW, I like it better without the racing markings.
  8. Neat build! I've always liked the Trabant for its simple, uncluttered design and decent proportions.
  9. Thanks, guys, for your enthusiastic response! It means a lot!
  10. Wow! That came out great.
  11. Finished my build of this previously unmolested original '59 issue kit as a sort of tribute to the first version of the '58 that the late, great Larry Watson painted for Lavonne Bathke. This one kinda kicked my butt a few times but I'm happy with the end result.
  12. Nice job on a tough build! Excellent color choice, looks like it's straight out of a '56 Mercury ad!
  13. Nice work! Love the attention to detail in finish and texture.
  14. Stellar workmanship, particularly on those headlight covers!
  15. 1. CORRECTED '58 Plymouth Belvedere two-door hardtop! 2. '57 Buick Special/Century two-door hardtop 3. '57 Mercury Monterey/Montclair two-door hardtop
  16. Really outstanding job on this build!
  17. Very impressive work on this old kit!
  18. Beautifully done, Marcos! The client ought to be real happy!
  19. You guys can have all your pimp wagons and country club land yachts! My first choice would be a true Carrera Pan Americana road race-prepped '53 Lincoln Capri hardtop. But it'd probably take a few more Washingtons than I've got!
  20. Nice details, jb! Hope you don't mind if I suggest tossing that old AMT molded seat belt and scratch up something a bit more realistic. Seems like that'd be more in keeping with the level of detail you've got going everywhere else.
  21. Excellent work on the new hood line! It takes more modeling nerve than I've got to do as much cutting and fitting as your doing with the parts in paint! Hat's off to you!
  22. Thanks for the comments, guys! With way too many projects started, I'm really trying to see this one through to completion soon in spite of some setbacks. Marshall, the windshield frame and all the molding around the cockpit will be foiled. Brett and Tom, the white is a mix of Tamiya Pearl White and Racing White. Unfortunately I ran out of the Pearl White so there's really not enough in the mix to be apparent.
  23. Here it is fresh out of the masking tape for the panel outlines...
  24. Always enjoy your work! Looking forward to watching this one.
  25. Here she is with Mica Red over the Silver Leaf. Looks good enough to proceed to Phase II. Word to the wise: Uncleared Tamiya Silver Leaf does not particularly like masking tape!
