  1. The title says it all, but if you want to know the story behind it... about a year ago I bought a 1:1 blacked out '19 Scat Pack Daytona from my niece and her husband. He loved it and it killed him to sell it but apparently my niece told him it's time to grow up and get a sensible year round vehicle (we're in northern New England- so special interest cars are in storage 6 months of the year). She's not wrong, they are young with a daughter at home, and not rich. My daughter saw the car on facebook marketplace, I didn't even know they were selling it until my daughter saw the ad by chance. So long story a little less long, we bought it. We joke that he had to grow up and sell it, so someone twice his age bought it! So, I am building AMT's '21 Charger R/T as our '19 to as a gift to him and will surprise him with it when it's done. But as you all probably know, this kit of course comes with the R/T's 5.7 and I need the SRT 6.4. I reached out to Texas 3D but he does not have that in his files and is not starting any new projects at this time. Is anyone making this motor?
  2. Wow that is some impressive detail right there...
  3. I built this 10 or so years ago, but where I've just gotten back on the forum after an ~11 year hiatus, I figured I might post some finished work during that time. This one is AMT's Dick Tracy Ford that I bought on ebay. It was started by I'm guessing a 7 year old, and missing some parts. Nothing was painted. So it was a no brainer to build it as a rat rod. I wish I could remember where I got the wheels and tires from. If anyone recognizes them, please let me know LOL! The engine is THE 427 from AMT's '32 LIL VIKY which "bolted right in", but I flipped the exhaust reversed/upside down. I also created some poseable steering for it. This was super fun to build.

    '62 Bel Air

Thanks for the compliments, guys. Quick spur of the moment build after seeing a gorgeous black 1:1 online for sale. The one online was factory with dual exhaust and street suspension, but I loved the look of the 1:25's exhaust and stance.
  5. I am Soooo jealous of you guys that have other options besides the internet and Hobby Lobby.....

    '62 Bel Air

I had this in the Mock-up section 2/2/25 and now she's done. I bought it started on ebay many years ago with the motor and some of the suspension glued together. Nothing was painted and the kit was complete minus one tail light, but I stole one from another kit. I was going for a barely street legal version back in '62.
  7. I wish the Walmarts around here had kits EVER! I haven't seen a kit in Walmart in probably 10 or 15 years except right before Christmas '24 they had about 6 in the isle but I had them all already... Also jealous of you guys that mention other stores- Ollies for example. I guess we don't have any of those stores around my neck of the woods in NH that I know of. For me it's Hobby Lobby or the internet... The best deal I can expect is from Hobby Lobby when they do the 40% discount, but I have all the ones I'm interested in until they come out with some new ones.
  8. That's awesome. I love it. Gorgeous truck and scenery. And the camping in it! Too cool! I love the original patina with the new 350. Vehicles up here in NH rust out underneath way before it has time to get some patina LOL. Funny you say you wonder why some of us on here build models instead of the 1:1 (I assume that's what you meant). I laughed because sometimes I say to myself if I spent the same time on my 1:1 '55 Merc as I spent on models it would probably be back on the road by now LOL. Mostly about the limited space and weather for the 1:1 vs the year round comfort of the model man-cave!
  9. Combining Revell's Big Game truck and their Chevy Sport stepside to recreate my buddy's beater GMC stepside that he had in the late '80s when we were in our late teens. Reworking the front suspension as his was a 2WD. In the background of the mock-up is the '71 Skylark I had at the time (which is also in the background of the top pic next to the mock-up), and another buddy's '83 Hurst Olds that he had then, which I am still working on. There will be alot of rust and weathering on the truck! LOL
  10. Great info, thank you guys! I appreciate the help. Going shopping... and checking out the parts pile. I have nothing to do this weekend but work on models and plow snow. I love it when that happens!
  11. Just starting a build of my buddy Norm's mid/late 70s GMC stepside pickup that he had when we were in our late teens in the late '80s. I have these two models to use the GMC grill with the stepside bed of the Chevy, but I just realized that they are both 4WD and my buddy's was 2WD. I looked through ebay for 15 or 20 minutes and haven't seen a sure thing for a Revell model of that era GM truck with the IFS of the 2WD. Does one exist that will be "plug and play"? I do enjoy scratchbuilding stuff, but if one will "bolt right in" it would make sense to do that. Also working on Revell's '83 Hurst Olds which was our other buddy Wayne's car at the time which was (and still is) like new as it was only about 6 years old which was 10-15 years newer than most of us had at the time LOL. The '71 Skylark in the background was mine which I recreated from Monogram's GSX. The '76 Firebird was Norm's also and was pretty mint. 400 4BBL 4SPD. What a blast. Anyway I digress, any help on a 2WD IFS would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  12. Go look at it, what's the worst that can happen LOL?
  13. '55 Mercury Montclair with a '60 352, 4 on the floor and lakepipes. I was looking at cars on Craiglist in 2020, totally not to buy one, just looking for the heck of it and saw this about an hour away. Had to have it. Drove the hell out of it for a couple summers until the brakes got too bad to drive any more. Life has been getting in the way of getting her back on the road and now it's stuck in 3rd gear from sitting too long.... I am determined to start terrorizing the streets again this summer, though. She's rough but alot of fun and runs great. I have learned from the guys on the H.A.M.B. not to call it a rat rod! LOL
  14. Steve, that is one of the most, if not THE most 1:1 looking photo I've ever seen of the scenery around a 1/25 model. The model is gorgeous, too. Very inspirational. Nice work! I would love to know how you did that asphalt. The whole thing is amazing.
  15. This one has been shelved for probably 10 years, but this thread is inspiring me to get back to it. The plan is for it to be a phantom factory stock super bee "truck". I think I'm going to switch the tail lights to '68 Dart ones so it can have a traditional tailgate. I figure those are the tail lights Dodge would have probably used.
  16. I love this thread. So much imagination here! I bought this one years ago on ebay as a started kit. Someone had glued some of the engine and suspension together, but nothing was painted. A couple weeks ago I saw an absolutely perfect 1:1 black on black '62 bubble top 4 speed 409 online for sale and I had to bust this out and replicate it. The 1:1 was a street car with dog dish hub caps, but I am keeping the S/S stance, exhaust, and bare steelies of the 1:25.
  17. I do the same thing lots of the time. It's funny there are days I go to the workstation and not much happens other than looking at the project and thinking about it. Other days progress happens like crazy and it get to be past bedtime and I wish I had more time. Another couple things that keeps me going is I usually have about three going at a time. If I'm not feelin' one I'm bound to be into working on another one. Or if I'm waiting for paint or glue to dry on one, I can get after one of the others. Also a huge stimulator, which I'm sure pretty much everyone does is to have the right music going! For me that is usually the Jerry Lee Lewis station, Rockabilly, really early Stones and the like. Beer goes pretty good with building, too.
  18. I love that! Can't wait to see that build!
  19. This 1/16 just showed up today. I had one of these when it was new in the early '80s in my early teens. I remember building it but unfortunately, like the dozens of other models I built back then, it's long gone to who knows where. I saw this on ebay and had to have it as I am a wicked Dukes geek. This is from '81, not the reissue, still wrapped. There was a note inside saying that this belonged to a gentleman who just passed away at 86. This was part of his collection of 1000+ models. Wow, and I thought I had alot of models LOL!
  20. Just getting back into this forum after 10+ years. For about the last half of those years I haven't had a man-cave, but now I do again, so back into the models! Luckily I still have the piece of paper from back then with my username and password LOL! It was interesting to see what I was reading and writing about back then. This post in particular I felt like a follow up was in order, as there were alot of welcomed replies. I'll bet some of those who chimed in on this back then are still here! Well here they still are, untouched since the original post almost 11 years ago. In other words basically untouched since either my dad or my grandparents put them in a box (which I also still have) in the early '60s. I bought this cabinet at a yard sale last summer, perfect size for them to all be together. In the OP I said these were either my dad's or my uncles, but I think it's safe to say they were my dad's, as my uncle, as great a guy as he is, never had much interest in cars or in building things. My dad was all about both. The two outboards on the bottom shelf were Dad's, for sure. They run on batteries and still work. He built this boat as a kid and ran those motors on it. Looks like that Corvette is the AMT 3 n 1 customizing kit 6923 issued in '63. That would lead me to believe this is probably the last model he ever built since he moved from his parent's home in upstate NY to start college at Northeastern in the fall of '63. He's still kickin' and turns 81 on Friday.
  21. I noticed that most of the threads associated with airbrushes seem to be 1/8" BSP, but mine is M5 x 0.5 thread. So I'm assuming that standard adaptor is for the 1/8" BSP. I took a chance and ordered this from Amazon- Amazon.com: Professional 7pcs Airbrush Adaptor Kit Fitting Connector Set for Air Compressor & Airbrush Hose : Arts, Crafts & Sewing It looks like this kit has the 1/4" NPT to both M5 and 1/8 threads, and it appears to also have an adaptor to go from my M5 threads to the 1/8 hose if I wanted to switch to that. The only M5 hose I can seem to find is the cheap vinyl kind. The 1/8 hoses seem much nicer as they are available as braided. I'll let you guys know if that kit does the trick, maybe that will help someone else out in the future.
  22. Thanks very much for the reply. Knowing that, I just went to badger's website and I see it. Punched the part number in at Amazon and bingo. Thanks again.
