  1. the color is Cobra Guardsman Blue Zero Paint #1080 can be hard to get. Gravity Colors makes the same color and can be a little easier to get. Bill
  2. ok,this one goes back a few years. had this one mocked up for a while now and finally got a base coat of color and decals done. now some clear coat and final assembly.
  3. thanks Edgar, i try to get as close as possible to the real car how it raced back in the day. sometimes i don't chose accurate when it looks ugly, like red door panels and red dash pad. i have a really good Racing Camaros book with some great pictures. Also very fortunate to live near 2 race tracks and pictures of the real car can be very helpful.
  4. thanks Anton. engine done and getting ready to prime the body. deciding on what tires and wheels to go with. just picked up a set of mini lite wheels and GoodYear blue steak tires from meanmachinemodels. a newer style goodyear logo but they look really good.
  5. yah the Fred Cady decals look like high quality decals, just never tried over laying decals. i will give them a shot. my first attempt at a vinyl top ,added a couple small strips of plastic to simulate a vinyl top . just need to paint semi gloss black after body is painted blue. a little work to interior, fabricated some aluminum panels and modified a Plastic Performance Products roll cage.
  6. nice project, i would say super dark blue. really hard to tell.
  7. i just can't find any info or pictures about this car. The Trans Am Mustang of that same year ran a 2- 4 barrel intake on a small block 289. that would look cool !
  8. Another little project i have started. 69 Sunoco Camaro. . doing this number 9 car . aftermarket resin cast body found on e-bay years ago. fireball modelworks minilite wheel and tire combo. the fred caddy decals were all i could find. the white outline on Sunoco is a seperate decal and looks like a pain . does anyone know a better option for decals? thanks Bill
  9. moved to WIP Nascar. pictures are jpeg and should be able to open. please let me know if i'm posting pictures wrong.
  10. Hello Group, it has been a couple years since my last post. busy with my 1/1 scale cars but now im back at the hobby table. Many projects i want to finish but couldn't help starting a new project. i found decals for this Bud Moore Cougar that i believe ran in a Nascar GT series. Don't know much of the history of the car, maybe someone here does. So the old Cougar kit came with a basic false engine compartment with no shock towers. So i chopped out engine compartment and front suspension clip from a revell/ monogram 65 shelby mustang. wheels and tires from Plastic Performance Products. Bill

  12. thanks for the comments and feedback. With the wheels supplied in kit , the front tire looked like a rubber band. Hard to capture in a photo but the tire size doesn't look bad on a HRM kit. The MFH kit has huge fender openings. As far as stance, you would have to modify suspension some what at step 2 . this picture of a MFH 1/24 427 Cobra better shows the too low profile of front tire and same tire supplied in 289 comp Cobra kit. As you can see in JC photos the number 15 and 14 didn't have low profile front tires.
  13. went with a slightly bigger front tire to fill up fender well
  14. thanks Pierre. Yah, i would love to see a 289 Comp Cobra in 1/12 by MFH. The 1/24 kit is very challenging and although the 1/12 has a lot more parts, the fit and detail makes for a much more enjoyable build. A look at at the different steering wheels. The 1/12 has pins that go through the steering wheel . The brown paint has sucked up the clear and will need another coat.
  15. The mini me to the 1/12 MFH Cobra, a little more progress
  16. a small update and some advice. Not a big deal, but the kit does not come with lower radiator (pipe) hose. I made one and wasn't to hard. If i would have know before hand i would have made hose and installed before i glued engine to chassis. If not , prepare for some f-bombs like i dropped.
  17. Thanks Ray. The most detail i have done on a firewall. I hope it's wired correctly !
  18. i skipped ahead a couple steps to finish the dash. the kit comes with clear plastic lens for the gauges. they didn't look so good when installed so i went with something i have tried before. a 2 part clear resin by Art Resin. drys super slow and easy to work with.
  19. thanks for all the comments and positive feedback. To be honest, i don't know what Brass Black is used for normal use. It is a mild acid and when applied to brass it will turn it black. I built a 1/8 scale Gurney Eagle engine model kit a while back and the kit supplied brass bolts. Another modeler suggested Brass Black for the bolts . Gave the bolts a black metal look. Not really intended for aluminum and was an experiment that went ok. the wheel inserts are painted with Mr Metal Color iron 212 and rubbed with a paper towel after paint has dried. it will make the edges a bit shiney.
  20. The aluminum rims supplied in kit look great for a show car,but not so realistic for a race car. Dulled rims by scuffing with a red 3m scuff pad and with a Q-tip rubbed some Brass Black on rims and quickly wiped off with a paper towel.
  21. super clean build Pierre , looks great !
  22. thanks for all the comments and feedback. Very happy with the kit so far. Love the large scale ! Sorry MFH , no advertising on this one.
  23. Great project Pierre ! Chaparrals didn't win a lot of races, but they sure did look good.
  24. nice work Gary, very cool project ! Love the look of the Ford J car. This is one of many future projects.
  25. finally finished step 1 ! kit does not come with coil and spark plug boots, so i added my own,
