  1. Thanks guys. So if I buy this one @ $11.54 I'm good to go even though it says nothing on the label about Future? Steve
  2. I know that this horse has been beaten to death, but I have a question for anyone who may know. I've been wanting to try Future for a few applications & I've not been able to find it in my area. After looking on Amazon tonight, I'm confused. There are 4 products listed. 3 of them seem to be the same item in different packages. They are listed as "Pledge Floor Care". Some say "With Future Shine", some do not. Regardless, they run around $10.00- $11.00 for a 27 oz. bottle. Then there is a product called "Pledge Floor Finish" "With Future Shine". This one runs nearly $50.00 for the same size bottle?!! What's the deal there? & which one do I want? I will be passing if I have to pay $50.00 for a 27 oz. bottle! The only thing I can figure is that the expensive one might be sold in multiples, yet I can find nothing in the product description that states that. Some of the others are clearly marked as 2 packs, 3 packs, 6 packs, etc. The only other one that appears to be sold individually on Amazon is the first one. The last photo is the product that doesn't state quantity. Help me! I'm thoroughly confused! Steve
  3. Wow! This project is going no where fast! I guess it's because summer is coming on. Just haven't been able to get a lot done on it. I had the day off from work today, so I knuckled down & spent a good portion of the afternoon on it. At least got it to the point where I could get a coat of primer on it! I did do much more work under the hood than I normally would. I added the inner fender detail as I stated in an earlier post, to deal with the narrow fender wells. I also fabbed up the fender "lip" for the hood to rest on, extended the firewall down to the chassis & added a new top for the radiator brace. I also did some re-working on the fender wells themselves. I smoothed them out considerably from what they originally looked like & also added a "groove" detail on both like the 1:1. I also fabricated a hood latch plate that will attach to the grille top as well as a few other details to be added at assembly. Now that most of the fabrication & prep is done, hopefully I can cruise into the parts that I enjoy. Paint & interior. Steve
  4. Just general warpage Carl. I thought maybe the top had been crushed but after looking it over, there are no cracks or breakage evident so I assume it's like that from a combination of heat & improper storage. Something probably sat on the roof for 40 years! Not only the roof is crushed, but the entire body is badly warped. I needed the hub caps & steering wheel for a Flintstone resin 2 door that I'll be doing, so I didn't much care about the body. Steve
  5. Just got it today. She's a real mess, but I only bought it for the wheel covers, tail lights, some interior parts & possibly the front bumper. Anything that's left is up for the asking. Here's a perfect example of what happens to these old promos over time. Steve
  6. I agree with Harry as well, but I've always been a sucker for the Pontiac 8 lug wheels. If I had to choose between the wheels you offered Jim, hands down it would be #1! I'm personally not a fan of any of the modern wheels on an old car. They always just look really out of place to me. The wires look good. Steve
  7. Likewise! I'll trade with Rick any day of the week! Everything went as smooth as silk! Steve
  8. I consider it PC when you feel like you have to walk on egg shells for fear of offending someone. I think this post illustrates that fear & why it's become so prevalent in our society. I can't do this, it might offend person A. I can't show that, it may offend person B. Exactly what is acceptable to "everyone". I don't know, do you? It's perfectly acceptable to me to have people post their photos on my threads. Seems it's acceptable to Tom. Are we wrong? Are you right? I personally am very tired of trying to decipher what is acceptable & what is not to every individual on the planet. This is a "public forum". It is not our "private space" We can not expect to not have our space encroached upon. As I don't wish to start another testosterone fueled pissing match, I'll just leave it at that & conclude by saying, I have no problem with photos on my threads. I am not offended, I don't feel that you're being un-courteous by doing so. I guess I'm just an oddball. Steve
  9. I agree Tom. I think it's a little silly too. I have posted photos of my builds on other peoples threads, mostly WIP threads to show what I did with the same kit. My motivation was the fact that almost all of the kits that I've built in the past 5 years have been vintage kits, & I personally would like to see anything that anyone has done with those types of kits. I guess From what I'm hearing, I was mistaken. Even a photo of a build to show something as small as a paint color or a particular technique that was used to achieve a certain affect is always welcome to me. These forums are supposed to be about discussion & interaction, & as far as I'm concerned, a picture is worth a thousand words. It never even crossed my mind that anyone would be offended or feel that their "thunder" was being stolen by having a photo posted on their thread. So, in the future, I will refrain from posting anything on another persons thread without permission. I guess the PC society that we are living in today has infiltrated pretty much every aspect of our lives, why not here as well? Steve
  10. Lacquer dries extremely quickly. So quickly that what you're seeing is the paint has dried in the air before it reached the surface of the model, hence the "graininess". Spray a little closer & it should eliminate the problem. Getting the correct distance down so that it becomes habit can be one of the most difficult aspects of painting. I've been painting for 40+ years & I still have issues on occasion. Steve
  11. Once the texture is sanded out, as long as you're using the same color, you can just shoot another coat or 2 over it. No need to re-prime. Steve
  12. I think that you're going to find the "pulse" is inconclusive. I'm guessing a good portion of us, (at least me) have never really thought about it. Being as your not likely to stop it from happening, maybe for those that it bothers, a "warning" of some sort at the original posting to "please refrain from posting your builds on this thread" might be in order. I guess if it bothers the OP, it should be his responsibility to try to stop it from taking place. As i said, it never bothered me, so if anyone wants to post something on one of my threads, fire away. Although, as some here have stated, a little relevance to the original post would be in order. I guess I can't think of a time when that was not the case for me. Steve
  13. In Minnesota it can be very hot & humid all summer. It can be either paint in the air conditioning, or not at all! I do it all of the time with no problems. Steve
  14. Doesn't look like orange peel to me. Looks like the paint is "grainy". Most likely caused from holding the can too far away from the body. Steve
  15. Beautiful! Can't wait to see the transformation! These '65s are really beautiful cars! I just sent out chrome for re-plating on a '66 & a '67 Bonneville, & now after seeing your build, I can't wait to get started on one of them. Steve
  16. Fantastic work!! But oh how I loath that style of wheels! Just a personal opinion, but the 8 lugs would look so much nicer on this otherwise beautiful "mostly" stock build! Some period mags like a set of Cragar SS wheels would look nice as well. Steve
  17. Ron's '60 has never bothered me either, & I've seen it a lot! Ron & I have the same interests & build style, so it shows up quite frequently on my threads. I just figure, we're all individuals & have our own thing. Why should it bother me? I've always considered myself a pretty laid back person. Not many little things like this get under my skin. Steve
  18. I've caught myself getting involved in that as well, & that does bother me. I need to refrain from that. You're right Bill. That is much more annoying & tasteless than someone posting their own build on your thread. At least their build may have something to do with the subject. Steve
  19. Thanks Thomas! Boy, you're really digging up the oldies! Steve
  20. I think that they need to have "mom" replace the gorilla! Steve
  21. You're right Harry. Now that I look at it, it looks a little narrow. Even though the Franklin Mint car is 1/24th, the Johan '61 is 1/25th scale. Looks narrow compared to that as well. Still looks awfully nice though! Steve
  22. I think what most people are referring to when they say that they build for themselves Erik, is that they are not building to compete or to gain approval from anyone else. At least that's what I think of when I say it. For instance, when I'm building an old annual kit with a "slab" chassis or a 3 piece interior, a lot of guys would swap chassis or do something different with the interior, especially if they're going to enter it in a show, even though they may not prefer to do it. I generally build them as they are. I understand that many of us would do those things regardless, but I build "for myself" with the intention of them going directly from the bench to my shelf & really have no thought of what anyone thinks of them. Yes, I do enjoy the comradery & the back & forth of these forums, but it does not influence the way I build. I think it would be difficult for anyone who builds for competition to claim that they are "building for themselves" or are at least not influenced by that situation. Steve
  23. Very cool! I've always liked the look of the '60 over the '59. A little more subdued. You have to admit, the '59 was a bit on the "gaudy" side. Steve
  24. I'm sure what Harry is referencing here is a left turn at an intersection where there are no left turn signals, (arrows). In that situation the left turn essentially becomes a "yield" situation. You may turn left when there is no more oncoming traffic. But a smart driver will move partially out into the intersection & wait there for either the oncoming traffic to clear, or for the light to turn yellow or even red to allow you to turn left. If you remain at the crosswalk & oncoming traffic is heavy, when the light changes, you're stuck there for another cycle of the light. And then possibly another, & another & another. As I stated, there are many intersections where I live with no designated left turn signal & heavy enough oncoming traffic during rush hour where you could possibly sit for many cycles of the light before being able to make your turn. In the mean time, if your not smart enough to get your butt out into the intersection, you're backing up traffic & creating all kinds of havoc behind you. It's not a traffic rule per-say, but it's just common sense to keep traffic moving & to keep from having the guy behind you jump out of his car & bludgeon you to death! Steve
  25. I still amazes me that none of the kit producers have seen fit to do this generation of Ford truck since the originals. It just seems like a giant no brainer! Steve
